What a legend is this Foresty Forest and his unwavering companion Rocco. I anxiously await an episode in which Foresty gets stuck in a well and Rocco rescues him by climbing several impassable peaks, meets up with a fur trapper, and leads the dog team into Whitehorse, Yukon and calls in the rescue team! It's a movie script I'm working. Other than lacking an attack by a nice Musk Ox or big horn sheep, this is probably my favorite episode. Of course, our hero, Foresty Forest, could have built some fun hidden cabins while chopping all that wood clearing trails though. Damn shame. But still, Oscar worthy overall I think.

Thank you for defending the heritage of the virgin wilderness. A shock collar on those who would litter....a hard jolt every time they drop trash.....if only. In my city ( population approx 250,000 ) last year, through a freedom of information request, I was able to learn that in the last year my city prosecuted 0 fly tippers. This despite detailed information ( photos, eye witness accounts ) from myself and likely others too. That they asked for, when I phoned them, informing them about the illegal activity I witnessed looking out my window. Nothing was done, as the same guys were back again a week or so later dumping more stuff on the street outside my flat. I despair.

As a person that was raised in a rural area, with gravel roads and state trails nearby I share your frustration as to why people will go that far with their full, heavy beer cans and refuse to crush them and stick them in a pocket on the way back. It has improved some though, when I was a kid people drove out and dumped their appliances along the roads, the real trash is often the humans. Beautiful shots from the mountain!

The extent of the mountain Pine beetle infestation in the Canadian Rockies is tragic. Made even more horrific by the lack of management of the dead trees. If harvested within five years, the wood is marketable for flooring, cabinetry and other applications. The coloured fungi, as a result of the infestation doesn’t affect its structural integrity. However, if the dead trees are left in the forest, they make excellent kindling for forest fires! This was one of the reasons why the fires in Jasper national park in 2024 were so fast-moving and destructive.
