That head tilting after drying and cutting off graduations is what I needed to know. Been cutting my daughter's very long, extremely thick hair for years and no matter how careful I was, I always ended up with those scruffy edges underneath. Going to cut it today and do what you did. Hopefully i won't mess it up. :) Thanks so much for making this.

This was very satisfying. I was taught that continually brushing the section of the hair will have your client start to worry about the cut. Also, you are able to have the client look left / right over their shoulders to trim the two front quadrants to match the back perimeter.

A very nice video, but I have a big question… You only cut the hair from behind, but if my client (or me) puts all of the hair on the chest and leaves nothing on the back, it’s mostly a very diagonal line that gets longer towards face…
@julia.mcconnell9 ай бұрын
Yes! That’s because some of us, clients, want a straight line across the back. We don’t want any V or U neck. So that’s a normal and expected thing

I can't figure out how did she cut the sides, hair by the air? Did she brush it back to even out with the reference guideline at the back, since @10:09 it shows her cutting at the back, not on the side of her arm. It feels like that must be wrong, since the hair is moved away from it's natural fall. Will that create a graduation on the sides. SOS! I need to explain to my mum, as she's about to cut my hair :)

I tried this method on my daughters very long hair. I struggled, I have never cut hair before. It looked super easy on the tutorial. Her hair is extremely thick, kept losing the guide line. Suppose it didn't help that I used dressmaking scissors, don't have any hair dressing scissors.
@noname-ll5bz4 жыл бұрын
how'd it work out ? next time make sure it's wet/conditioned/sectioned & each section held w/clips and simply work from the back to establish your guide,unclip another back section-use what was just cut as the guide-work around the sides unclipping each section left side then right side--take your time-- and how my own hair is,it's NOT dead straight and must have a sight amount of tension when cutting it-most hair cutters don't know this unless THEY are Dominicans,Cubansetc etc--cutting it the way this video is showing it will result in one inch off winding up in reality w/2-3 inches off as the natural wave & "texture" LOL are released. NOW i'm gonna hunt around in here for about 4 clips and always use nice sharp dollar store shears--they work fine and for doing it alone,you get a larger area cut straight. When my daughters were kids,i loved to do their long hair and keep it clean,healthy and in shape. I learned LOL.

@MIGTrainingChannel5 жыл бұрын
My model had lots of hair and this why it is important to always blow dry and check your work.
@e11eohe11e5 жыл бұрын
@@MIGTrainingChannel That didn't explain why it happened. Ruth, the stylist cut the models hair while the model was looking straight forward. This means that if the model tilts her head down the top layers raise up and show the bottom layers underneath. The stylist then cut them off so the model wouldn't have to worry about an uneven bottom layer.
@cudseybearforeverx76765 жыл бұрын
How come you didn't get the client to tilt her head forward throughout the cut??
@e11eohe11e5 жыл бұрын
@@cudseybearforeverx7676 if she cut the hair straight across while the hair was tilted forward, the line would have curved up at the ends. I assume the client wanted a straight line. Guessing where the line should be and cutting the ends curving down while her head was tilted would not have guaranteed a straight line once the head was straight.
@bangscutter5 жыл бұрын
If the client just wants a clean one length look, then a much more time efficient method would be to just straighten the hair first, then use a trimmer to cut a blunt line into the hair. Without sectioning. You get the same end result in far less time.
