When you said your mind doesn't work abstractly I felt... oddly reassured?? I've had this problem for years and sometimes other artists (and art teachers ugh) would look at me oddly when I said I didn't "get" abstract art, like "you're not a real artist" kind of looks and I would feel so uncomfortable, like I'm supposed to understand all forms of art because I'm an artist, and that's just... not how people work. So it felt really nice to hear someone else put words to how I feel on such a visible platform to so many people. Like, I'm not the only one thank the goddess. Even though it wasn't an intentional reassurance, I thank you none the less!! I hope others who have faced this issue get the same feeling I did :)

Honestly, right there with you with the "dont lift the pen ever" aspect. What's so horrible about lifting your hand and continuing in the exact same spot? It's still one line

@phiakitti58856 жыл бұрын

Total Trash Mammal The challenge is to not lift your hand. That would ruin the whole challenge and make it like a regular drawing.
@LilChuunosuke6 жыл бұрын
LeekFox /\_/\ no because regular drawings have lots of disconnected lines. It'd be very difficult to make it a "normal drawing" with one continuous line, regardless of whether or not you can lift your hand. Not to mention an art challenge should not require you to injure your hand to achieve, which is a serious risk with this "challenge"
@LilChuunosuke6 жыл бұрын
Mia The Dork it's not the "don't lift your pen challenge", it's the "one line challenge". I'm saying that not only does your hand obstruct the drawing, but you also risk hand cramps and pain if you don't lift your pen from the page to stretch your hand. My main point here is risk of hand injury. Risking injury because "lifting your hand defeats the purpose of the challenge" (which it doesn't) is dumb

we did this in drawing. (i'm in advanced studio now) it's really fun. there are actually artists who do contour line drawings. you actually are allowed to pick up your pen. you just have to make it look like it is one continuous line. my amazing art teacher showed us some artists' work and they are very interesting. another fun way to do this is to do a blind contour line drawing. basically, you just look away and draw using one line. it is really cool to see how you do. also, I love your videos and you are my favorite art youtuber. you always make me smile and brighten my day. i know this is like 6 months after this video was posted but...

I really loved the ilustrations, it'd be a hard chalenge for me, as you said, its hard to keep the anatomy right when you cant quite look at the whole drawing! You could modify this chalenge a bit to have some fun with it, like, 3 lines, each of a different color, stuff like that! I'd love to see move videos about it xD
@MsNefertriri6 жыл бұрын
This was one of my professors go to warm up exercises in art school. Tho to make it even more of a challange we also weren't allowed to LOOK at our hands while drawing. Only the model. Great drawings though kasey! Glad you didn't die 😆

I did a one line drawing (without realizing it was trending) because I wanted to try the exercise again like when we had to in high school, so that made me chuckle when you said that the last time you did so was in high school! I ended up having to do two lines because the I forgot to do the bottom row of teeth in the skull. It ended up okay but it was a little easier for me because I laid down watercolor shading first. Great job for not having done it in awhile!
