The inversion reminds me of a paper I used in art class that was multicolored and then coated in a black coating. And you scratched your image into the coating to reveal the colors. I have no idea what it is called.

The fear you had before starting the 1 line challenge and the total disconnect in the brain for this challenge is how art felt for me for the longest time. To start the page and what to draw was fear, being explained techniques to by like teachers or books... blank. I overcame it though! I'm still a beginner and I'm still overcoming. It's like, to do art I have to completely build a new part of my brain and it's slow but oh so worth it! I think these feelings are why most says they can't draw. Humans hate feeling dumb or crappy at things and there is so much embarrassment to it. Which brings me to, you are crazy brave to share the art you did while feeling these ways!

I watched this in inverted colors it was very interesting like seeing the finished product already ( I’m using apple so just search it in the settings)

i think the colors have to be super saturated for it to be as close to inverted as possible, like in acrylic or digital. the water color having variation in saturation meant it didnt come out as close to the right colors as it could have. but it still looks super cool. i like strange colors and trying new things. great job.

That challenge sounds so crazy and I really get how confusing that must be while drawing! (might give it a try one day) However, I really like how yours came out, it got that wonderful "negative" look actually. I can tell that it has to be inverted to get the colours through but even the actual look is very pleasing to the eye. (though a bit hard to the brain since mine tries desperately to act on logic :D)

This is a very interesting challenge, and I feel that this is a good one because it forces you to look at the picture in a different perspective. I think it look really good, the background looks absolutely beautiful when it's inverted! You're right that the colours don't look like watercolour when they're inverted, it kinda looks like you used metallic marker to colour everything in. I think you did an excellent job Kasey, and I can't wait for more art challenges in the future!

I think the background, and the girl are spot on, perhaps it’s the white of the unicorn and then the seemingly harsh transition form the unicorns front to its back. I think you did a job well done going against your instincts for this picture to make it the right colors!

I'm SUPER impressed with how well the background turned out on this! It actually looks so incredibly pretty when you invert it. I also think the girl turned out really well. I'm not sure what colours you had in your mind for her, but whatever they were, I feel like the colours you ended up with actually worked really well together in the inverted image, and they really sell the "campfire glow" aesthetic. The unicorn is definitely the weakest bit, but honestly I think that a big part of that is just that the light vs dark bits on the body have a little too much contrast so the shadows just look a little too extreme and unnatural. I'd be curious to see you attempt this challenge again, using what you learned this time to improve your technique. Totally understand, though, if your brain's just too fried to pull that off, but know it would be super cool if it ever did happen.

I think part of why the inverting image looks so different from watercolor is because of the innate texture of the paper and the paints, since the colors/values were all inverted the physical convex and concave textures on the page inverted as well making it look almost as if a different medium were used
