Would you ever consider having a few "Let's Plays"? Maybe even your hubby can play alongside you. Then you can both have fun playing the games you may have wanted to play anyway or explore different games you wouldn't have played otherwise. I think it might be fun. Ooh and perhaps with some games that you really like, you could create some cosplays of your favorite characters, like Aloy from "Horizon Zero Dawn." Of course you don't have too, I absolutely love your content and I hope that more people find your channel because it's fantastic!! Another thought, what if you have a contest where people can design some merch for you and the winner's art or design can have a limited time release of merchandise that you would get all or most of the commission? And then maybe the artist or designer can get a shout out from you? I don't know I think it would be fun to consider. Sorry for the long comment, but I hope that it can help. You deserve all the best things in life. **Edit: what if for Patreon some of the rewards can be scanned pictures from your sketchbook or your finished pieces**

I don't know why, but pets and creativity is my go to. Obviously not a 40-minutes episode, but just a one or two minutes of this would kill me with happiness. Honestly I'm playing June's Journey right now cause of you and planning to buy your 'Satine dress' for a wedding after seeing it on you. I really loved your transparency about all of this, Rachel. I had no idea just how little money KZbin pays for the ads run on videos. Not that I assumed it was a whole lot, but $30 for a video with 30,000 views is crazy. Thanks for your honesty - it makes me appreciate even more the effort you put into your videos. I too naturally tend to catastrophize and panic to be honest. I read this Mary Oliver quote today and it really helped me feel I was spending my energy more wisely than I sometimes fear. “The most regretful people on earth are those who felt the call to creative work, who felt their own creative power restive and uprising, and gave to it neither power nor time.” ― Mary Oliver

1. I would try to hop on some trends, but put your own twist on them 2. I notice that videos that imply any sort of challenge do well. Not just straight up videos with the word “challenge” in the title, but also something like Safiya’s “I tried plastic jeans” where the viewer gets curious how it’s gonna look like since styling of those must be challenging. I’ve seen Kennie and a few other youtubers do stuff like “black girl tries Korean makeup”, again - people click since the are curious of the outcome (and Korean makeup is a trend in a way) Does it all make sense? I hope so lol. I don’t say you have to copycat them, but incorporating that challenging element into your own videos to get people click on your videos might be a new idea. 3. This is purely what my egotistical ass wants - I love inspiring shit like decluttering and “getting your shit together” kind of stuff Also I wouldn’t mind sponsorships as long as they don’t affect the quality of the content

Oh hon, I think you got January blues! To me it sounds, like things are going reasonably well, honestly. You’re growing slowly but steadily, you have devoted fans, many of which seem to be willing to support you...and yes...there’s absolutely nothing wrong with sponsorship. I mean, sometimes one even discovers interesting products that way. And I agree, don’t limit yourself to clothes and makeup. Try house related stuff and taking us places or vintage cooking...and just see how it goes. Also: merchandise! I‘m fairly sure, people would by both Frodo and vintage related items from you! Or why not vintage themed dog stuff 😁 You could also set up a small shop where you sell finds from your thrift hauls. And if you feel really overwhelmed, consider investing in someone else sitting down with you and helping you develop a business plan and to choose what to tackle first and how to best handle sponsors and all that. I think you’re just overwhelmed by all the choices you suddenly have to make. Which is normal, but also dangerous, if it makes you want to hide under a blanket instead of eager to jump on the opportunities. If you’re that kind of person, you may just need outside help to get started. Nothing wrong with that...I‘m a freelance office worker, and I have quite a few clients, who are really good at what they’re doing...but would get themselves in trouble within 3 month if I wouldn’t come in weekly to keep their paperwork on track. It’s life. Focus on your strengths, get help with your weaknesses 👍

You live in an area so rich with history and beauty. A few video ideas that would be cool and wouldn't cost too much besides gas/travel fair would be vintage shopping in particular cities/areas. You literally do not need to buy anything, but you can show off areas where vintage shopping can be done. Vintage shopping in Boston or Salem would be cool and I think bring in some interest. It could even be a series if there is multiple shops to visit. And you can try on and build outfits and you don't need to purchase. I guess the only thing would be you need to check with the owner if it's okay to film. Maybe some wandering around those areas videos. I really like the one you did in Salem. Visit some historical sites and give them some cinema flair with your creative filmmaker eye. You are doing great so far!❤️

Etsy is so tough! I tried it for a while and stopped. Once you calculate the cost of materials and the labor you put it, it's hard to price things to sell while still breaking even materials wise. Covering material costs AND paying yourself minimum wage for your time? Making a profit? That's a laugh! I gave up after realizing that, if I paid myself minimum wage for my labor, I was loosing money. I actually made more money finding a local boutique and selling my things out of their store.

Thank you! And keep going. (Try not to overthink too much, you’re totally worthy of your success AND get paid to do it!) xxx

I don't remember the first video I watched of yours, or why since I'm not a vintage person, but your personality and the fun you have in your videos keeps me watching. I really hope this works out for you. And please do consider patreon seriously. It's a great way for people to support you in a bigger way. Until then, I'm off to watch some of your older videos I haven't seen before.

Rachel, I will always think you set the new standard and made KZbin enjoyable for me again. I will never be to your level but I’m good with that because I feel inspired because of you and that’s the most amazing gift you’ve given me! I have one little video with half a million views....the rest don’t even touch it...and oh how I waited for that boost I thought would come. But so much holds me back and I’ve made my peace with that...and you are so much of the reason that I keep plugging along. Thank you thank you thank you

So many good ideas here in the comments section for you!! I would like to add: Period "cocktail" party...where you set the room up for a certain time period, dress in that period, and tell us what would be served. Any time period would do. Walk the dog time....just a walk with Frodo with lovely sites around you and beautiful scenery. Hell Cat Horror movie....make a small movie that includes Hell Cat in some creative way. What I eat in a day/cook for dinner...make a meal dressed as a housewife from a certain decade. Can also do SciFi/Fantasy/Action/etc versions of this. I love you and I want to support you in any way I can. Hang in there. Plus a HUGE "AWWWWW (HUGS)" for all the sappy emotional.stuff at the end there. 😍

I feel like I have a lot of the same👏🏻 exact👏🏻 issues👏🏻 as you, except on a MUCH smaller scale lmao 😂I can especially identify on the trying new things while keeping current subs happy. For some reason my channel became the Pet DIYs channel, when it's never been just about that (I'm also into beauty, fashion, diys, etc.), and I feel like anything I do outside of that is received like MEH ... Ppl care more about my dogs 😂... Sigh. You are doing amazing Rachel and we believeeeee in you!!! I watch all your vids! You got this ;) PS, your lookbooks are my fave :)

As someone who hopes to grow and make something, even if it's not a ton, from my channel, it's so nice to know... I'm not alone. And just all of your insight and things that no KZbinr ever talks about views wise and money wise. These are fab videos. Also when you talked about getting up at 9am I had a good laugh. Ohhhhh man. I totally get the whole Patreon thing, because it is your job and income. One thing I have noticed with other channels, is that they start out doing Patreon, but also still having some free content, But before too long they stop doing free content at all, which is also understandable. BUT, if I have 10 fav channels, that started out free, and suddenly are not available anymore due to obligations to their paying subscribers, I would have to decide how many channels I can afford to support, not being a wealthy person. I am not currently supporting anyone on Patreon, although I WAS supporting one. So, I would have to choose one or two to support, since I will be on a fixed income soon, or just hope my favs still supply occasional free stuff. I will certainly consider being a Patreon of yours, because I adore you.

When you talk about being an artist and paintings that you worked really hard on not selling, i feel that. I see my own paintings go unsold, as well as other professional artists in my gallery who are well established, and paintings have hung for over a year. As long as you are loving what you are doing, drawing inspiration from you world, and putting it out for others to appreciate, financially things will fall into place. One painting may not sell, but others will. There is no way to guess which person walks into a gallery and likes something. I think your form of art is beautiful and the reason people watch your video is because your vision is creative and beautiful. Never stop creating, it will pay off!

Some of the best statues in the world begun as a block of marble that was chipped away at until a beautiful work of art was formed and now we all pay to go to museums just to get a glance at the statue of the thinker, or David. Bless you for making this video. I think, so often, KZbinrs and social media personalities just focus on the positive (which is great on the one hand, but weirdly discouraging on the other hand) and makes those of us who are trying to figure out how to grow, be successful, build our own businesses feel weirdly discouraged. This video....this is encouraging. I know it may not feel like it (because boy do I understand worries and financial pit falls of being a blogger!), but it's oddly encouraging to hear someone much farther along in the journey having the same fears and doubts. It makes me feel like I'm not alone, that my thoughts are not unreasonable. That means a TON. So thank you for posting this! Ramble away!

I am so proud of you Rachel. And never, ever, ever feel ashamed for being honest. 😊 And I know what you mean about seeing other vintage youtuber(s) and how well they are doing. I noticed that popular channels that I follow. These women also have things on the side that help them money wise. Some ladies have opened Etsy shops, and sell clothing, jewlery, and crochet PDFs. You are crafty with creating cosplay outfits. And I can totally see you creating a PDF for some of your cosplay ideas. Its another idea to create an income for yourself. And just like youtube its not going to take off quickly, I do see it growing over time. And since you know we viewers simply adore Frodo you can also create something based around Frodo too. Be it a calender, t-shirts, Frodo toys (kind of what Nala cat has merch wise), tote bags, and mugs. Its just some ideas, to getting the creative juices flowing.💚

I just have to say that you are an amazing KZbinr. I have recently just joined your youtubership?? KZbin ness?? Ha I just think that you are a pretty amazing woman. And a refreshing take on the KZbin nation genre. Your filmmaking/ editing skills are awesome! And your passion may not pay the bills but it fulfills you a way a 9-5 job never could, and even your newest subscribers can see that you exude such confidence on your skills. I am a bit older than you, so I can honestly say that seeing a younger person put the emphasis on money that you should/ should hope to for those that have serious goals for you later adult life is so refreshing. Just know that you have a new subscriber for ‘life’ and I hope that you succeed beyond your/ your&Nicks wildest dreams!!
