Yesterday was my first day at this 'new job', so I wanted to document it (mostly so I would feel like I was keeping busy, lol)
I can't thank you guys enough for watching my videos enough to give me this opportunity!
I can't tell you how nice it was to sit down and edit this without any time constraints and to take my time on it, it's all I've ever wanted hahaha.

Will you have a studio space in your home? You could work on decorating & setting it up which could start opening the video ideas. You could write a bucket list (not necessarily the things before you die, but things before you hit 40). You could list all the people you would like to collab with, those you know well & those you may have been too intimidated to meet let alone ask to collab. Believe me if you say you want to collab with someone big but you haven't had courage to meet. I will be happy to tweet them your channel in order to introduce you to them...

I love how normal you are. Most of what we see on KZbin is people showing their "perfect" while pretending to be normal. Most of us don't live in minimalist, modern farmhouse homes with lots of essential oils and Mrs. Meyers. Most of us have at least one bed without a frame, waterspots on our coffee pots, Gain on our kitchen sinks, and a lot of random stuff. Thanks for keeping it real, you're going to be a great youtuber :)

I have to agree so very much. I get tired of watching some of these "Cleaning Motovation" channels where their house is pretty much spotless to begin with. There might be one thing on the floor and a pillow out of place on a couch and they consider that to be a disaster. Obviously not all channel's are like that, but its just how it feels sometime. It is nice to see something you can relate too sometimes.

In my experience as a former self-employed creative: One thing that helps is to do something outside the house first thing in the morning - go to the local diner for breakfast, grab a coffee, go to yoga... Something to kick start your day that requires you to actually get dressed and maybe even socialize a small bit will help. Another thing to recognize is that you'll need to redefine what a successful work day looks like - it might be running errands or brainstorming while playing video games. It's definitely an adjustment, but you'll get there soon enough. So happy to see you following your dreams!!

Actually, something as simple as starting the day with a hot shower at the same set time, can do the trick. You don't need to go anywhere; and yoga is just as good at home - tips from a more introverted creative (me). Coffee is less pricey, too! Best wishes, Rachel!

I notice that if I don't go out, especially first thing, without noticing at first, I set myself up for eventual depression and procrastination. I'm super sensitive to energy, and notice energy stagnation on a deep level which just feels so bad to me. It was a while before I realized that's what was going on tho. And yeah leaving the house, to get in fresh and different, and preferably nature energy, not only helps with creativity and productivity, but also the more im in nature, the more easily inspiration comes to me, to the point where I am positively IGNITED AND ENLIVENED. Without nature and especially my bare feet on the earth, I become this depressed, anxiety ridden grouch, who kind of can't stand being around people and who may or may not get things done lol. But plus nature, I am A MAGICAL BEING OF LOVE AND AWESOMENESS WHO REMEMBERS I AM INFINITE POTENTIAL ITSELF AND JOY BUBBLES UP FROM WITHIN ME LIKE !!!!!!

A great tip to keep yourself from feeling lazy when you work at home is to get ready everyday. Just as you would if you were going in to work. Even put your shoes on. At the end of the day when it's time to switch back to regular home life take your shoes off and put your comfy clothes on. It's a neat way to trick your brain into thinking it's work time.

I think our society unfortunately conditions us to feel as if, if we aren't giving away our entire life to a nine to five job, we are lazy or chasing pipe dreams. Part of it is just capitalism and part of it is people liking to bring others down because misery loves company. It's hard for nine to fivers to see people working successfully from home and not feel self conscious or maybe self righteous. Don't let anybody hate on you for chasing your dreams before you're an old lady, you've earned this and you deserve to be happy.

When I quit my job to be a stay-at-home mom I spent the first week reorganizing the whole house cause I didn't know what to do with myself. I ended up being a homeschool teacher, watching my three kids get to grow and experience the world around them. Best decision I ever made.

Don’t feel guilty because you are actually doing twice more work. Working for yourself means you gotta do EVERYTHING, you’re the manager, personal assistant, secretary, accountant, brainstormer, and a bunch of other things. I own my own online business and felt the same way in the beginning and felt the need to prove to others that it was actually “work”. Just remember, misery likes company, so if people are envious of your ability to be your own boss don’t take it personally. I don’t have to spend half my life in a friggin cubicle, hip hip hooray!!!!

I don't even entirely know why or what about it draws me in so much but it has become one of my most rewatched videos on KZbin (aside from music). As someone who works from home, for themselves [I make pro-wrestling masks and gear], that feeling of guilt/anxiety kind of comes in waves. I'm currently trying to battle that "doing nothing" guilt/anxiety that's telling me that starting to vlog again [after basically 8 years away from really DOING KZbin] isn't a waste of my time; I essentially see all hours of the day as dollar signs connected to my "real" business. Your transition to full time is part of why I want to start posting again; I work from home and I have no excuses for not starting, just my own insecurities. . .any my chronic illness/mental health issues. Thank you for showing us your journey, and being honest. You're a pretty cool cat, Rachel Maksy. [Also, welcome to being a pajama monster 24/7, it's both wonderful and the worst. I started making myself cool work pajamas to get over that "I work for me, I don't have to get dressed" thing.]

I also work as a freelance writer. Working from home without the pressure is heavenly. Making a realistic goal schedule of things I want to achieve for the week has helped me a lot and gave me a better sense of time of stuff I have to do. It takes a lot of self-discipline. I struggled with that the first month, but the paycheck I received at the end of the month actually motivated me more to plan my work way better, but you'll get there!! I used to study architecture and if you have enough space in your house, you could consider buying a drafting table, the idea is that it's a wooden plate which is quite wide so you comfortably work on it, but it also can stand vertically or at different angles. So standing up you could use it to pin sketches)

I'm 41 now, so when I decided to take the leap to go back to school and be at home with our baby (now she's 5!) it was pretty scary. I totally understand where you're coming from with the guilt and all. It'll get easier as you go. One day at the time and set small goals for yourself. Ok so the whole thing about being introverted but hating feeling alone, I relate so much. I’m introverted but I need to be around people?? I switched jobs at the beginning of the year. I went from a job where I was working with close friends to a job where I was pretty isolated. It caused me to become depressed for a few months. But I think I’ve adjusted now. Here is some advice from someone who has worked from home and been my own boss since I was 18. Now 23!: Set a time that work starts and ends everyday. There are lots of distractions and “perceived priorities” that will only hinder your work. For example, you may find that by the end of the day you’ve cleaned half of your house, walked your dog, cooked dinner, and strayed a little bit during a work related errand. By the end of the day, you’ve only put in a few hours into work and your focus was not truly all there when you were working. Its hard to ignore your home around you when it is also your office... BUT if you do add strict separation between work time and “not work time,” you will end up with a greater reward for the dedicated focus and time. I ADORE you and your channel! Im so excited to see what is next!

This is the type of vlog that I feel I could keep watching! Love the relaxing vibe it has. Also, if you feel like you can't get into the "working" mindset, a lot of people create/rent a space they use JUST for work and nothing else, kind of like an office, so they keep their relaxation and work separate. This is something I felt was necessary for school because I felt like I couldn't relax otherwise. Just a tip should you get worried about it :) But I'm sure you'll do great! Frodo is probably the cutest doggo that I know of (and I have 3 canine nieces) He’s fluffy in all the right places, he’s not too big or small, and his eyes are so *expressive* ! He’s just so precious!
