I drove it in Bangalore for 2 days. I own a Skoda Rapid, but I must say I throrghly enjoyed the drive. It so convinient, the ride, the handling, the interiors gives a really fresh vibe. Navigating though traffic is a breeze. The steering felt so nice and the feedback was absolute spot on. The only problem I faced was with the gear selector. As you mentioned in the video, its mostly a hit or miss affair. Also the piano black panel on the steering wheel felt like an afterthought. Otherwise, its a well polished vehicle. I was skeptical about EVs when I drove the old Nexon, but this one changed my mind. Looking forward to the Curvv model. Also, I think we should stop thinking about the resale value before we even decide to buy a car. It was a consideration a decade ago, I don't think it is now. About the cost of ownership, I have a friend who owns two older nexon models and the newer one which I drove, I am amazed when I see user reviews about the longevity or usability of the car. The guy has clocked almost 50k in a year and has taken it everywhere without any problem whatsoever. I drove it from Bangalore to Kerala a few times and never for once had the botheration that we're a driving an EV. It is great that Indian OEMs are getting the EV game right. I did a test drive for Ather 450X and I was amazed at the sheer built quality. I think it is worth putting our money on vehicles like this.

Now the gearbox has gone bad.. despite driving the car with extreme care. And TATA's said it would cost 1lakh.. and after negotiating, the customer has to pay 35k I'm not sure if the real cost of the part is 35k, and they are quoting it as 1 lakh so that the customer pays 35k As it's TATA, the trust is gone.. because the service is pathetic 😪😪😪 Below is the part information from TATA -- Good evening, The *Mechatron* unit to be replaced. Cost part dealer will share. For a car, where the warranty just ended .. this is the case.. think about long-term usage 🙏🙏🙏 We have been using Maruthi's and Hyundai's and Toyota's since years in our families ... none of them are as *fragile* as a TATA 🙌🏻🤐

What these companies don't realize, and why Tesla stands out from the rest-whether it's Ford, GM, or Tata-is because Tesla has invested heavily in battery management. Other EV manufacturers seem to think that just putting a battery slab on four wheels is enough to make an electric vehicle. I own a Tesla, and trust me, you should never charge it to 100%; it's better to stop at around 92% or 94%. Also, you should avoid draining the battery to 0%, although many people tend to do that.
@ContentWithCars4 ай бұрын
Very well said. Will try the 92 percent charging stuff. Why do you say it’s better?
@loopbloke4 ай бұрын
Thanks for your reply. I see many folks complaining about EVs without properly knowing how to use it unlike ICE cars. The software in Tesla vehicles is indeed smart enough to manage the maximum charge buffer. Once you set an upper limit, the software automatically cuts off any additional charge to protect the battery. Elon Musk has explained this concept in an interview, comparing a nearly empty battery to a large, empty parking lot. Initially, it's easy to find parking spots (or charge the battery), which is why the first 70% of charging is faster. However, as the battery fills up, it becomes harder to find empty spaces, slowing down the charging process. If you frequently charge the battery to 100% but only use 50% or less for daily driving, you're unnecessarily using up all the "parking spaces," which can reduce the battery's overall lifespan. A critical component of Tesla's battery management system is effective thermal management, particularly for such large and mobile batteries, which are prone to thermal stress. This system is more sophisticated than it appears, as an over-cooled battery can also be detrimental. Balancing the battery temperature is essential to prevent both overheating and overcooling, as both can affect the battery's performance and longevity. Additionally, starting with a fully charged battery reduces the efficiency of regenerative braking and generates more heat, leading to wear and tear on the thermal management system. While charging close to 100% is advisable for long trips to maximize range, it's best to limit daily charging to around 94% to extend the battery's life and health. I would also like to add that EV cars should give close to full tank range because our lifestyle and biological clocks has gotten tuned to that much of distance as a need than just a want. I am hoping battery tech would evolve faster. Thanks and keep up with your videos. Cheers.

The biggest issue with EVs is the resale value. People will think twice before buying even a 3 to 4-year-old EV at a good price. Esp a badly maintained car. So, the value depreciates immediately. Battery, Software, etc will be significantly affected. As the battery's SoH decreases, its charge capacity and range also decrease. For example, a 60 kWh battery with 90% SoH is essentially the same as a 54 kWh battery. So imagine if the battery capacity dropped to 75% lol

I own a Tata Nexon EV Max from Oct 2022 and unfortunately, I haven't had a great experience with the car and I am moving towards filing a consumer court case next month. I do agree the car is great to drive and I truly enjoyed using it until all the issues began in April this year. Tata's Service Center has no idea how to solve the HV Critical Alert and they did not even update the software in the last 4 services here in Bangalore. Finally, I got the software updated from a service center in Kerala although I reside in Bangalore. But they still have no idea how to solve the HV Critical Alert and the range has been erratic since this issue began in April. My biggest issue with the EV isn't its driving but the fact that TATA has no idea how to fix the bugs which sometimes are so severe it makes the car very unreliable. Earlier I was consistently getting 300km range but after this HV Critical Alert its always fluctuating from 220-320km of range. The car is still excellent to drive but I do recommend everyone who is investing ₹18L+ into an EV to think about the after sales issues faced by current Nexon EV owners before buying the car.

Bro please do a video regarding resale value of nexon .ev
@hybruh56694 ай бұрын
Bro, I am using nexon ev max for last one year. During the period I have so many issues such as, 1. Battery drainage suddenly from 17 to 7 quickly, then battery replaced under warranty. 2 Again the same happened. Huge drop from 19% to 3%. Battery replaced under warranty. 3. Now connecting cable between charging plot and charger becomes complaint. Vehicle is given to service centre for replacement. But part is not available bcz many nexon ev is having same issue. Buy ev that’s a good idea , but don’t buy from TATA.

You are paying a hefty premium over an equivalent petrol car and also there can be a hefty price for battery replacement in 7to9 years. Also the resale value also tends to go down as the battery life might be the deciding factor
@harir54494 ай бұрын
Over a period of 7 to 9 years, it is not mandatory to replace the entire battery pack. The battery pack is a combination of numerous cells where the faulty ones can be replaced one by one at minimal cost. Also during that period itself the car would have covered more than 1.5 lakh kms which is more than enough of an average ICE cars lifetime run. Also the running costs are bare minimum compared to ICE cars. An average ICE cars life cycle is 1 to 1.5 lakh kms and that too with too much maintenance. Considering all of these and let's not forget the punchy performance, EVs are no brainer. BTW, I own an MG ZS EV, so can't comment on Tata EVs.

What about the additional premium paid towards evs compared to the ice counterparts? It's nearly 3 lakh for a nexon. That's worth 36000 kms running cost which is additional paid.

I've been said from the dealer that its only worthy if you drive your ev an approx. Of 100 km a day

For the additional 3 lakhs, you are also benefitting from smoother power delivery, better acceleration ,more refinement and better nvh

What about long term ownership cost. Like battery replacement cost after warranty period. Nexon has 1.6 lakh km limit for warranty na. After that if battery need replacement its a huge coat right. So considering all that and the obvious range limitations and destination limitations according to charging station availability is an ev really a feasible one car for a family??

@ContentWithCars ok no issues with that what about long drives of nearly 500 + kms
@rajagopals87434 ай бұрын
After 5 to 6 yrs you need to replace the battery ie around 8 lakhs minus the buy back of old battery hence it will cost 6 lakhs which if you divide per km then it’s not that great value. Per km as per cost of ownership

I would rather get a petrol car than waiting for the damn car to fully charge. Also I can drive even in the forest region with peace of mind without worrying about the next charging point and don't have to consider additional time for the charging. Facts apart I like the quality of drive in electric cars, smoooth!!

low running cost ✅ saving the planet ❌ resale value ❌ bugs ✅ Evs I'll say should be looked at as consumables. You cant resell it, you shall use it until it dies. Installing solar panels at home is essentially free travel. Its too early to say what these will become in the long run. We have not reached the end of life of these cars. We don't know how much a battery replacement is going to cost or whether it will be worth it. A hybrid makes a little more sense in my opinion.

Electric vehicles may have caught the fancy of people in the last few years, but a large number of people driving such vehicles do not seem to be happy owning them. A recent survey has revealed that 51% of EV owners want to switch back to ICE (internal combustion engine) vehicles due to issues ranging from finding accessible and working charging stations to carrying out their regular maintenance and their poor resale value. The survey was conducted among 500 electric car owners in Delhi NCR, Mumbai, and Bengaluru.

@@ContentWithCars Car Nexon ev top model. Assuming one unit of current cost 8.5 rs per unit and my car runs 260 km in full charge from 43 kwh battery(2.5 added for miscellaneous) what is running cost for a year if car is running daily 50 km car and ac is set to auto at 22 degree carring two passanger adult and small lag daily. car is taken only for office trip. solution We're calculating the annual running cost of a Tata Nexon EV considering: * Electricity cost: Rs. 8.5 per unit (kWh) * Car's range on full charge: 260 km + 2.5 km (miscellaneous) = 262.5 km * Battery capacity: 43 kWh * Daily usage: 50 km * AC usage: Auto mode at 22 degrees * Passenger load: 2 adults and 1 child ## Factors Affecting Energy Consumption While we have the base data, factors like AC usage, passenger load, and driving conditions can significantly impact energy consumption. ### Impact of AC on Energy Consumption * **AC usage:** Running the AC, especially at a lower temperature, increases energy consumption. * **Auto mode:** While auto mode adjusts the AC based on conditions, it still consumes energy. * **External temperature:** Higher external temperatures require more AC usage, increasing energy consumption. ### Impact of Passenger Load * **Passenger weight:** Additional weight increases energy consumption as the car needs more power to move. ### Impact of Driving Conditions * **Traffic:** Frequent acceleration and braking in traffic increases energy consumption. * **Terrain:** Driving uphill or on rough roads requires more energy. ## Estimating Energy Consumption Given the lack of specific data on the Nexon EV's energy consumption under these conditions, we can only provide a rough estimate. **Assumptions:** * A 10% increase in energy consumption due to AC usage, passenger load, and general driving conditions. ### Calculations * Base energy consumption per km = 43 kWh / 262.5 km = 0.1638 kWh/km * Adjusted energy consumption per km = 0.1638 kWh/km * 1.1 = 0.1802 kWh/km * Daily energy consumption = 0.1802 kWh/km * 50 km = 9.01 kWh/day * Annual energy consumption = 9.01 kWh/day * 365 days = 3293.65 kWh * Annual cost = 3293.65 kWh * Rs. 8.5/kWh = Rs. 28,000.27 ## Conclusion Based on the given data and assumptions, the estimated annual running cost of the Tata Nexon EV is **Rs. 28,000.27**. ### Important Notes: * This is a rough estimate. Actual costs may vary significantly based on driving conditions, AC usage, and other factors. * For a more accurate estimate, real-world data on energy consumption under specific conditions is required. * Consider factors like charging efficiency, battery degradation, and electricity tariff variations for a comprehensive analysis. after 5 years running cost will be 140000. diesel car with 18kmpl at diesel price 98rs per litre. driving 50 km daily for 5 years will cost 496805 rs price of car plus fuel diesel top end automatic at kochi according to carwale on road is 19.18 total will be 2414805 appr. Nexon ev top end on road kochi according to car wale 21.06 total will be 21.06 + 140000 = 2246000 around. so the difference is of diesel in this scenario is 2 lakhs more expensive than ev. but after reselling car after 5 years ic car will have more value so basically ic is better. according to this situation. am I correct?

Being a petrolhead and now an EV owner I can say EVs are so smooth and relaxing with power always on tap. A gentle input to the throttle can get u past every petrolhead's cars. Life is so simple with an EV where you don't much care about the running cost. Charging infrastructure is increasing day by day and long journeys are also easily possible.
