Sisyphus is happy because each day he gets a little closer to a new high, just as we get a closer to our goal, and once its accomplished, while we dont start from 0 like Sisyphus, we start something new again, which is a new kind of 0. Not everyone works paycheck to paycheck, some people actually manage to maximize their time to do other things and then coming back to the grind but knowing you can do it in half the time it takes because of the months you put into it.

That's a better version of the story. These people are making up theories and discussing the irrelevant feelings of this guy who doesn't have a choice. It doesn't matter how he feels, he's not pushing the rock in defiance he is literally cursed to continue to push the rock. (And tbh he would probably feel neutral about it after an eternity of doing it). Whereas if he has a choice but chooses to push the rock, that's actual defiance. Like when Gordon Liddy decided not to cut a deal with the authorities on the Watergate scandal when everybody else got out of prison, because of his character. I’m pretty sure the reason for Sisyphus never stopping is because he does not want the gods to win. He wants to continue, as the moment he gives up pushing the boulder up the hill, is the moment he loses to the gods. Zeus expected him to fail and eventually give up the impossible task, Sisyphus is happy because he never gave Zeus the satisfaction of watching him give up. He defeated Zeus using the only thing humans have that the Gods don't, an unbreakable spirit even when faced with terrible circumstances.

Sisyphus's struggle reminds me of the same struggle of samsara the cyclical nature of existence. All students should write an essay on 'As a Sisyphus I would'... Here is mine right now. As a Mr. S I would play without the boulder every day while going up, I would learn fun games that make sense to me, like spinning the boulder around 2 axes and sometimes trying to bounce the boulder by using potholes making it an amazingly fun personal time for me. I would make poems on the way to the top of many types but when I am feeling down, I would make horror poems like the one to say while getting depressed and frustrated "Keep on working, Keep on working hard, someday I will succeed and I will never know why!'. I will accept the futility of my endeavour but I will spend a portion of my mind to learn about myself, how I like everything. How I like to hold the boulder, how I like to turn it at every place my path, and how much I hate which part of my journey. I would talk to the boulder knowing the reality of the situation, I would let the boulder know all my triumphs before meeting him/her. I would try to live till I die and I would love to feel it all no matter my preferences on the emotions I feel. I would not forget to make fun of the Gods who punished me, and everyday I will do it better than the last so that any day a God comes to watch me suffer his ears will bleed in anger. I imagine Sisyphus amazingly happy and Gods pissed off living every single day of their lives like rats in a cage. As a Sisyphus I would, I would.

Forgive me for this *Nerd Moment* but Sisyphus deserved it, 100%. In terms of being an all around awful person, he gave Zeus a run for his money. He was a king and a tyrant, a bloodthirsty one at that. If not for the Gods, he *was* the status quo. This isn't about fighting it, but the pitfalls of corrupted power and a bloated ego. He got what was coming to him. Honestly he was punished for the wrong thing, you'd think Hades would've got to him sooner for the whole "murdering guests" bit (company was *sacred* in Ancient Greece, ever heard of Hestia?). But Sisyphus being punished forever after living a full life is a delicious irony, even if a lot of people no doubt suffered along the way. By most tellings he was also a dick to his wife. What a boomer. The Myth of Sisyphus is not his story. Camus uses his punishment to explore a philosophical idea, without the muddy details that make that message less poignant. Interesting? Yes! Not inspirational.

It would be more satisfying to measure your eternal growth rather than to be endgame from the very beginning Sisyphus is happy, because he's in strongman heaven, The rush of pushing the body and struggling is greater than you might think, Most people*** dont believe its a fun way to live, but these same people are usually really dumb, chasing after normality and comfort, becoming one of the "masses" that support all the things that make us ask "how can someone be so ignorant?"

I was thinking about the concept a while back. Immortality, in this world, is seen as a disturbing and boring concept by the huge mass. People seek comfort, and Sisyphus did too. He stopped when he received the punishment. It taught him to not seek comfort because comfort is subjective. Immortality when looked with the perspective you've mentioned is indeed wonderful. It's all about the man's brain. It can make even the worst struggle, a pleasure.

While it may not have been the original intention I have always interpreted, "One must imagine Sisyphus happy", as Sisyphus could only be happy in his punishment in our imagination. We imagine the joy Sisyphus could feel in getting the boulder an inch higher than the last time when from the from Sisyphus' point of view that accomplishment is punishment all the same as falling down the mountain to start again. In a system were the improvement of one's self can serve not purpose other than to further the struggler's suffering the joy in improvement is turned to a greater punishment that the original sentencing.

that has to be the most depressing ending I have ever heard, endlessly chasing for love, money and happiness, is that what we were put on this earth for, is that why we exist in the first place, just to 'live in the moment' our entire lives were just for nothing, I simply cannot live with the fact that we must search for something that will never come to us, for it will never be enough, nothing is enough to the human thinking. That chase to happiness isn't even getting it but instead just living in the moment. Live our lives to the most as possible, and what do you propose that is, raise a family, eventually that wont be enough, gain money and wealth, eventually that wont be enough, find a new practice that would benefit the earth, eventually that work would wither away and so few would remember it. I do agree with many things you say, but not believing in sanctity and peace, true bliss for our efforts and work on these short lives we live in I cannot agree with
