What a great video! Loved the idea to sew the block in different ways to get the seams to not line up! I love your thinking to make things easier..😍😍. CONGRATS Carrie!

I have made this pattern and I just strip pieced various scrap pieces to form the block and kept the alternate block the same size

Maurine you are a gem! I purchased the Easy Peasie book and have been working on the Town Square pattern for awhile. I started on the block about the time you suggested making at least four blocks. I still got stuck with this pattern. I wish Fabric Cafe provided pressing tips! I struggled through and have some spots that are not nesting so there's bulk. I LOVE that you suggest changing the long ends with the short. Unfortunatley I am working with a directional fabric. Of course if I had seen your tip before I put the blocks together I could have made the nesting work. Will definitely write down the pressing directions for next time! Thank you.

Fabric Cafe has this pattern in one of their books and they call it Town Square.

Congrats, Carey! Love the pressing info. I would love to figure out (easily?) how to determine the yardage needed when you're making a quilt you figure yourself such as those with the 6inch center. And how do you determine the width of the strip to place next to it? I would have made mine wider but am guessing it's just a preference and not a math determination. Thanks, as always!

Preferably is is math but many times the numbers don't work so you play with it until it does work and the numbers add up correctly.

Lavender Lime has the Sweet and Simple quilt pattern for sale as an individual pattern. Looks the same as your old favorite! Larger center square, thinner side pieces than 3 yard blocks.

Great pattern! I’ve heard you mention using small scraps for pet beds in many of your videos. Would it be possible to do a video on how you make the pet beds!

I don't make the pet beds. I just save the scraps for a lady who picks them up for a friend who makes them.

I'm a newbie to quilt making and am all about streamlining the process. I see 4-patch squares, 4-patch rectangles surrounding the main square blocks in that Town Square design. I'm wondering if it would be more efficient to use the strip piecing method to make those 4-patch blocks, and then insert solid square blocks between.

there aren't 4 patches in this pattern. It is a center square with a two piece frame which are strip pieced.

For that adorable 6" block, did you subcut the framing strip sets at 2"? Thank you for this!
@theopinionatedquilter
@theopinionatedquilter Жыл бұрын
I cut them at 1.5 to finish to one so the block ends up being a 6" finished block.

You added 1 1/2” (finished) to each side. Now it’s 1-1/2+6+1-1/2=9

I know you don't like to waste fabric but I think I'd make 4 patches and then center and blanket stitch the focus fabric. Just a thought.

3+6+3=12, not 9, right?
