so the Ross has a straight pull bolt which means you also don't have to un-scope and it wont delay the reload. I will always un-scope regardless because it helps with situational awareness but if that's an important feature for you then it's one more reason to consider using the rifle.
@lukaslanger80776 жыл бұрын
LevelCapGaming Levelcap hasn't even mentioned the super-low muzzle velocity of the ross mk. III. Without having the symthic stats available yet, i can tell the muzzle velocity of the ross must be around the one of the gewehr m.95 (620m/sec) or even lower. Its like playing dart. Still a super neat rifle, tho, but this should be said.

The Gewehr M95 is my favorite rifle in this game for everything it offers... But it doesn't have a sweet spot! The Ross might just be the rifle for me!
@lukaslanger80776 жыл бұрын
Jonathon Nabajeth th m95 is crazy, indeed and it has a "hidden" advantage that NOONE ever mentioned, but which is almost better than a sweetspot: It has a higher forearm- and leg damage multiplier than ANY other scout-weapon exept the 1895 trench (0,93 than 0,75). Sounds subtle, but in fact, you will almost always gain at least a "assist counts as kill", no matter how bad you hit (expect you hit the leg/forearm at very long ranges). And enemies must be less pre-damaged to get one-hitted. The lower body and upper arm multiplier is higher too.
@Deathnotekeeper6 жыл бұрын
Just curious why would you use the straight pull rifles if you are just gonna un-scope regardless of the situation? I can totally understand that yeah you definitely got to zoom out for situational awareness. But I think for most people it is more of a habit if anything, I mean really that's one of the biggest benefits of straight pull rifles is that you're going to have the ability to put shots down range much faster then other snipers. Idk maybe it's just me I just think it's crazy to completely ignore such a benefit. I mean last night I was playing on Monte Grappa on the attacking side, a lot of the enemy squads got together to recapture B as our team was getting A. Thankfully because I had my Ross equipped I was able to put a lot of shots down range and kill many of the aggressors. Thankfully it held them off long enough that we captured the sector. If I was using any other sniper(besides the m.95) I wouldn't of been able to defend the position as well.

LevelCapGaming they thought realistically when doing the damage model the American enfield shot the same 30.06 cartridge as the 1903 while the Ross shares the .303 British rou d which is slower and not as accurate at range. The 1917 is the same weapon SGT Alvin York carried. I'll be putti g that into a Loadout for you to try
@edm240b96 жыл бұрын
The M1917 Enfield is basically the M1903 Infantry. It’s also not really an American SMLE. It’s based off of the British P14 rifle, which was supposed to replace the Lee Enfield, but WWI started, so the Lee Enfield remained standard issue. When the USA entered, they were already manufacturing P14s, so it made sense to convert them to .30-06 Springfield. Because of the shortage of 1903 Springfields, the M1917 Enfield was actually the more commonly seen rifle in the hands of the Americans by a 3:1 ratio.

Glad someone posted this, I wanted to do the same but didn't want to double up on the info. Another tidbit, the P17 actually will hold 6 rounds in the magazine, a nice side effect of rechambering for .30-06 as it is not a rimmed cartridge and .303 Brit is. I was impressed they got that right in the game.

The 1917 Enfield is a rechambered version of the Pattern 14, not the SMLE. The Pattern 14 was a rifle the British intended to replace the SMLE as their standard infantry rifle, in order to compete with the long range fire power of the German Mauser. However, the war taking place not long after derailed those plans.

I am somebody that very much enjoys using the Howell rifle actually. I find it to be the perfect middle-of-the-road medic gun. It well out performs the Fedorov at mid range of course and the bipod helps with longer range. I actually deploy the bipod more than you would imagine. And while it can't two shot like the RSC (another one of my favs) the 20 bullet mag (21 if you include the one in the chamber) is exactly what the RSC lacks. For those who don't know: it is possible to equip an AA sight with which makes the bulky offset irons a hell of a lot more managable. I find the gun perfect on mid range maps like Verdun Heights or St Quentin's scar it works like a dream on operations. Especially offense where your team usually requires more healing.

The Eddystone M1917 isn't a copy of the SMLE it's a copy of the British Pattern 14 rifle that was cambered in .303 Brit . We adopted the machinery and tooling and made the p14 into the m1917 and chambered it in 30-06 . The reason you are able to hold six is because the P14 was chambered .303 and the .303 is rimmed but the 30-06 isn't so in the M1917 Eddystone could hold six since the 30-06 isn't .

It is ridiculous to see the Howell Automatic Rifle doing this little damage per shot...this thing is basically a steampunked SMLE (they added the weird thingy on the right of the gun to help pull the bolt with an additional gas system). This gun should have less ammo and do more damage. Hell, it can even have a sweet spot system as well. Also the reload of lMG08 reload is not so unique. The parabellum MG14/17's reload also features the soldier spinning the drum magazine to extract the belt. The perino 1908's reload features the soldier adding several clips of bullets to the magazine. Both of these reload's time length vary due to how many shots you have left in the magazine.

marsel dagistani The M1917 actually set the new standard for American rifle irons. The Garand, M-14, and M-16 all use the same style. At the end of WWI the US Army had roughly equal numbers of M1917 and M1903 rifles and had to decide which rifle would be the standard issue going forward. Ironically, the M1903 was selected because it's iron sights were better for target shooting (despite the M1917 having superior sights for combat)

The Ross had issues because it had a tighter chamber and the Canadian infantry used British style ammo, which had real loose tolerances for thickness of the case, causing it to choke on its bullets (something the Lee Enfield was built to deal with). The Canadian snipers swore by it because they got the more precisely made match grade ammo for accuracy, and this saved them from the issues that had the regulars foaming seething with rage

LevelCap, on the 1917 Enfield, it's not really an american version of the Lee. The British intended to replace the Lee Enfield with a Mauser clone (like the Springfield) in 1914 and hired many US factories to produce it in mass. Problem is that when war broke out they had to stick to their Lees and cancelled production. When the Americans joined, they had all this tooling for British P14 rifles and not enough factories set up to build the M1903s so they went ahead and built rifles in that pattern chambered in .30-06. It's a British design intended for British use that the US ended up using due to shortage of their own rifles. TLDR: the 1917 Enfield is a British version of the Mauser used by the Americans because they had factories set up to build them.

The 1917 Enfield is almost entirely unrelated to the Lee-Enfield, apart from the fact that they are both bolt-action rifles that have the name of the Royal Small Arms Factory at Enfield attached to them. It shares a sweet spot with the 1903 Springfield, because they are both chambered in the same .30-'06 cartridge. The Webley revolver is not derived from the Auto Revolver, it's the other way around.
@765operator6 жыл бұрын
The two Enfield rifles should not be comparable. One is a .303 brit the other is 30-06. The Springfield 1903 is also a 30-06. Maybe this will help you understand the meta.
@emu0719816 жыл бұрын
The M1917 Enfield fires a different round to the SMLEIII hence the different characteristics. It actually fires the .30-06 which is the same round as the M1903 Springfield (if anything, Dice are consistent with their bullet characteristics). I am not really a big fan of the Enfield though, for me the default iron sights have the centre blade on the front sights so small that I keep lining up the side posts when I am acquiring targets at speed (it is a couple of pixels wide on a 15.4" 4K screen).
@Caveira1386 жыл бұрын
The American Enfield actually uses the same .30-06 cartridge as the Springfield so it makes sense to have a similar sweet spot. That's the reasoning behind the SMLE and Ross sharing the .303 Bristish/sweet spot.
@noahparkin40016 жыл бұрын
the 1917 enfield probably has stats closer to the 1903 than the smle because the 1917 was chambered in 30-06 just like the 1903. it was made when the US entered the war, they needed more rifles, so they took factories making lee enfields and designed the 1917 to use as much of the same tooling as possible but still have the common rifle caliber of the US army.
@nickrichmond62846 жыл бұрын
The m1917 is slightly different from the SMLE, both enfields, but the m1917 is based on the pattern 14 Lee Enfield rather than the SMLE. The pattern 14 uses a much stronger cartridge and is meant as more of a marksman rifle rather than standard infantry.

The m1917 is a p14 Enfield copy, not an SMLE copy. Sweet spots are based on cartridges in bf1, ie. The Ross and SMLE are identical, because .303, the m1917/m1903 in 30-06, the 1895/Mosin in 7.62x54R.

The M1917 Enfield is not an American version of the Short Magazine Lee-Enfield. It is an American version of the British Pattern 14 Enfield. During the war SMLE production could not keep up with British needs. They needed rifles and turned to Remington and Winchester in the United States. Instead of producing SMLE's they produced the Pattern 14 Enfields. They were quicker and easier to produce. Fast forward to 1917 and the United States has entered the war. They needed rifles to supplement Springfield 1903 production. The P14 Enfield was re-chambered for the American 30-06 cartridge (as a result could hold one more round in the magazine) and the M1917 Enfield was born.

The P14 was to be mass produced by Vickers, who could not do as such; so the British government looked to Winchester and Remington for production of the rifles. The intention was to replace the SMLE; however your average british soldier did not only prefer the SMLE over the P14, but the SMLE was already standard issue at the breakout of the first world war, and so it would not make a great deal of sense to replace that which we know works. It then gained a few changes here and there, and eventually became the M1917 rifle.

M1917 enfield is an American version of the p14 enfield using the same 30-06 cartridge as the m1903 Springfield, hence the same sweet-spot distance .
@arieheath77736 жыл бұрын
The 1917 isn't a variant of the Lee Enfield. It's essentially a Mauser action, based on the Pattern 14 rifle the British were testing in trials as a result of the Boer war.
@arieheath77736 жыл бұрын
Also, the reason people call it the American Enfield is that it was designed at the Enfield plant in Britain. The reason we used them is because Remington and other companies were producing them for the British. A relatively simple conversion to .30-06 and presto, new service rifle.

I bet the M1917 has the sweet spot of the M1903 because they both use a 30-06 if I am not mistaken

A note on the 1917 Enfield. It's not an American weapon, so much as it is not a British weapon. It's a bit of a hybrid. The action is the answer to the question of what would happen if a Mauser and a Lee Enfield shagged. It was a British design, originally the P13 and was designed to replace the SMLE. However, just when the P14, the revised, state of the art version of the P13 was finished, WWI broke out and we couldn't get all the factories which were producing SMLEs to switch to the P14 pattern. Thus, we asked you yanks to make them and in the US, Winchester, Eddystone and Remington all produced Pattern 14 Enfield rifles, all in .303, same calibre as the SMLE. Those factories produced a good number of theose rifles which Britain bought and used in the rear line like the Germans and their Gewehr 88s. Not front line use. When you lads joined the war, you had the same problem ironically, your factories weren't producing enough of the new rifle, your M1903 yet you could produce plenty of the pattern 14s. However, America used the 30-06 cartridge so the US army ordered the P14 rifles to be rechambered in their own cartridge. This happened in 1917 hence the name of the rifle, P17 in British service (we used them too yet actually in WWII) and M1917 in American service. The P17 using 30-06 could fit 6 rounds in the internal magazine instead of the 5 the .303 P14 could hold, this is because .303 is a rimmed cartridge and 30-06 is not. During the Second World War, the British homeguard held on to a number of P14 and P17 rifles, the P17s got a red band in case the old lads in the homeguard tried to put British ammo in them which would blow the gun up. They were all re arsenalled and fully refurbished. They also removed the volley sights which were part of the British specs for the P14 and were sighted to shoot at excess of 2000m in large groups in a sort of artillery like fashion. Shooting them at long distance at long range like a volley of arrows. Largely pointless yet still a feature. I've got a 1917 Winchester P14 that was rearsenalled and no longer has the volley sights, it is in near new condition for a 100 year old rifle. The P17 and P14 rifles are incredibly accurate they were often issued to snipers with or without scopes, like the Ross though they had none of the reliability issues of that rifle. There is also a flip up iron sight which is more accurate. The aperture sight is much better than the leaf sights of other rifles. P17s and the rural upbringing of many doughboys gave them a reputation for sharpshooting. The rifle rewards a good shot, I can hit an 8 inch diameter target at 200m with my P14 and I promise that they are truly excellent rifles. Much better than the 1903 that the US adopted in force later, though somewhat heavier.

The reason the M1917 is so different is because it is chambered in .30-06' and not .303 British. As well as it is not a copy of the SMLE and both are entirely different patterns of rifle.
@mrganey4136 жыл бұрын
The 1917 Enfield has the same damage model as the 1903 because they are both chambered to use the American .30-06 cartridge.

capitain here: To give some backgroundinformation about the Sniperrifles shown: The Enfield 1917 is a British designed gun produced by the americans at first for the Brits, them for themselves. The British version would use the same cartrige as the SMLE, .303 and thus would feature a five Round magazine. However, the Americans used te Rifle in their own calliber; 30.06. since .303 is a bigger cartrige than 30.06, the american Enfield will feature a six round magazine (that way you can see the Enfield 1917 in the Game is American and uses 30.06). Using the same cartrige as the M1903 Springfield, it totally does make sese that the M1917 works more like the M1903 and less like the SMLE and the Ross(which also uses .303) "flies away"

The IMG 08/18, Howell Rifle and Ross Rifle MKIII are my favourites. All the weapons are good except the RSC SMG
@lejenddairy6 жыл бұрын
I actually like the IMG 08 a lot. It's like a BAR with a bigger magazine.
@putinonasmile84786 жыл бұрын
The lmg 08/18 is the best lmg in the game. It takes the benefits from the parabellem and the mg na 15 good high fire rate but controllable recoil and low first shot recoil allowing u to tap fire for longer ranges. I would I courage everyone to try the suppresive variant. More ammo and an adjustable site that makes aiming clearer.

LevelCap, I have recently switched from console to pc, and in general the switch was quite smooth. I love to fly planes in battlefield, and switching from the joysticks to the mouse and keyboard i cant seem to fly anymore and with this new dlc i would love to give it a go. would you consider making a video going over your mouse and keyboard bindings as well as some tips to control the plane better?
@newpeupyoass6 жыл бұрын
Much like how the Russian 1895 and the Mosin have the same sweet-spot range because they both fire 7.62x54R, the Ross and the SMLE have the same sweet-spot range because they both shoot .303.
@newpeupyoass6 жыл бұрын
Same goes for both the M1903 and the M1917 Enfield, they both use .30-06

The reason the American Lee Enfield has the same sweet spot as the 1903 is because they’re both chambered in .30-06 while the British enfield is chambered in .303 British :)

M1917 enfield is a 30-06, same as your 1903, where the smle and ross are both .303 brit. Thats why the damage is the way it is.

When this game was announced I imagined the only automatic weapons we would see would be similar to the RSC factory. I was really disappointed at how widespread the automatic weapon use became.

The American Lee Enfield is a longer version of the rifle, before reaching the SMLE III the British were using the standard Lee Enfield, this is what the Americans got, the SMLE III is i think almost 6 inches shorter.
@itz0reo16 жыл бұрын
The reason why the 1917 is similar to the 1903 is because they shoot the same round, the 30.06. While the 1917 Enfield is similar to the British Lee Enfield, there are a few differences.

The 1917 has a different damage model because it doesnt uses the .303 round, its chambered to fire the 30 cal round

The 1917 Enfield is the same caliber as the 1903 (.30-06), which is why it has the same sweet spot. Not sure why we got the 1917 Enfield instead of the infantry 1903, but whatever.

The lebel was my main, like 15 service stars with it, but now the 1917 is my go to, the bolt cycle time is so quick, it beat out the lebel IMO, which i think was the best up until now.
@BodyCounter6 жыл бұрын
*THINGS HE DIDN'T MENTION:* 1. The Howell has a bipod on both variants, so that negates the whole Farquhar Hill being more accurate statement. 2. Also the P17 uses the Springfield calibre so it's meant to have the M1903 sweetspot and not the SMLE's one. 3. The new Revolver although it's an almost identical version of the auto revolver, the Mk VI has slightly lower control than the Auto Revolver so that's another trade off to have it as an all class pistol.

Thing you forgot to mention: RIght now the Howell is bugged, it's got .21 base spread and .2 sips, instead of .18 and .1 like all the other SLRs.

the small ''L'' doesnt mean ''Luft'' it means ''leicht'' wich is an adjective and in german grammatic adjectives are allways small so its ''lMG''
@theshinken6 жыл бұрын
There were actually both IMG 08s and LMG 08s and both were used on aircrafts (because the lack of water-cooling). And as a whole, an MG 08/15 was considered "light" at the time, because the MG crew can carry it to new positions somewhat efficiently, while big boys like the Maxim needed to be set up in a lengthy and work intensive process for the advantage that you can fire a Maxim literally forever, while MG 08s do have a breaking point.
@theshinken6 жыл бұрын
As opposed to the modern definition of "LMG" which is: "can be carried and operated by 1 or 2 men in regular squads instead of needing a full squad itself." The MG gameplay in BF1 never happened in real life (Maybe with the exception of the Chauchat or BAR in some limited cases).
@bl4ckdr4gontv936 жыл бұрын
Yes, and so? It still lMG, because its a german name
