Sleepless in Seattle is another movie which they aren't together until the end. I really love Serendipity... John Cusack and Kate Beckinsale are great in this, but so are Jeremy Piven and Molly Shannon! When Jonathan, gets the book from Halley, with Sara's name and number in it, and Jonathan gets in the cab with Dean... ugh, just kills me! Then the scene with Jonathan standing in the snow crying... gets me every time!!!

I was about to watch this movie but decided to do a search for a reaction to this movie before hand and can't believe this is the only one that came up. I was also kind of surprised there even is one. Not the most popular of romantic comedies but all my favorites are a bit different such as Definitely Maybe, Eternal Sunshine, and Hi Fidelity to name a few. I'm a sucker for the formulaic romantic comedies as well, but put an odd little twist and it just adds to it. I also think you get a higher level from actors in these types of movies than the majority of the formulaic rom coms. Thanks for the reaction and looking forward to seeing what else might be on your channel.

I don't watch many romance movies but this is definitely one of my favourite movies of any genre. The thought that there's something out there drawing us together is a beautiful and hopeful thing. John Cusack talks about the constellation Cassiopeia to love interests in 2 different rom coms, Serendipity (2001) and The Sure Thing (1985). A romance that I also love is Somewhere in Time (1980). Fate and destiny bringing two people together across time must be the ultimate example of love overcoming all obstacles.

Dear Lindsey, I felt exactly the same as you did with this film, I too loved all of it. I also saw your review of "The Holiday" and "Love Actually" which is how I came to this film. Of all of the three "Serendipity" is my favourite. And, like you I am way too familiar with unrequited love and always look for the two people to come together again, it always feels as if the world is on the right axis when it comes together in love.

This is a beautifully put-together movie. The love story is great, but I also love the best-friend dynamic between John Cusack and Jeremy Piven. They've acted together in films since the '80s, so that might have helped, but they feel like real-life best friends. All the coincidences in the movie are so well-placed too. It really is impressive that those 1st few mins of the movie leave us with the undeniable feeling that they belong together. And that end scene where Halie gives Jonathan the book gets me every time. How... serendipitous. JC plays it really well too. The music adds a lot to this movie too. The songs are great, but I find that the musical choices for the crucial parts like the end when they finally meet again, are just perfect! They add a magical feeling, almost whimsical touch. ♥ ~Caroline

Just came across your channel (long story short: I'm very happy) and am thoroughly enjoying a small binge of your content. Short of writing a mini(ish) dissertation, I'll just say I lost count of how many times I wanted to shout across/through my monitor and chime/add stuff to what you were saying about this movie, lol, and it's not even one I put up high on my list of faves (and that's not to be taken in a bad way). Fun fact: Cusack and his buddy DID meet when they were 'fresh manure' and have stayed friends ever since (they were also together in Grosse Pointe Blank (I wonder if you'll cover that at some point?)). Another dissertation I could easily write is on repeated viewings of movies but I won't bore ya, suffice it to say I am so glad your channel exists with the 'let's look back after multiple viewings' approach, as well as your analysis throughout the vid; I have been thoroughly engrossed with this vid and The Holiday so far. - Any thought on some Richard Curtis back-catalogue posts? Like Four Wedding, Notting Hill, Bridget Jones Diary, The Girl In The Cafe. - Thoughts on: Bob & Rose (2001), Moonstruck, Sense and Sensibility, 84 Charring Cross...

If I recall correctly, the scenes on ice were filmed in August. So although the character should be freezing, they were really feeling the heat during filming.

Lars isn't playing an oboe. He is playing a shehnai, which is like an Indian clarinet. I have actually played the oboe since 1986. They are similar instruments and both have a double reed, but the oboe is a C instrument, while the clarinet and shehnai are Bb instruments, which means they transpose their notes to match all the C instruments in order to play them together.

Serendipity as a restaurant is an utter delight when dining. The decor is so eclectic with its marble tables, antiques, lots of pink...so charming! The food was delish!

First time watching one of your videos. Have to agree with pretty much everything you said. I absolutely love this movie but funnily enough my go to "romance" movie is a toss up between Vanilla Sky and Lucky Number Sleven. Definitely not in the same genre but the relationships in both movies get me every time. If by any chance you do watch Vanilla Sky, you HAVE to watch the short 'making of' video 'Prelude to a Dream' along with it. Also great reaction.

This movie has an interesting effect on me now, because since Monday, March 8, 2021, I have been waiting for and hoping to reconnect with MY literal, Sarah. There was a Woman that came into my life, named Sarah and she affected me from the second I first SAW her. I said to myself, "I have to talk to this Woman". Each passing day, we got closer and closer, until one day, she was gone. I have not seen or talked to her since, Friday, March 5, 2021.

I have no idea why people love this movie, the leads are horrible people. The people they are with are adorable, but they just threw it all away like it’s nothing. I can’t bring myself to root for these people. I was wishing for the bad ending…lol
