Nhl edmonton oilers vs vegas golden knights without connor mcdavid still ended up in a rout. We touch on the golden knights vs oilers highlights and the big nights for zach hyman leon draisaitl dylan holloway a bit, but focus on what I consider to be an nhl trade that continues to be absolutely massive for edmonton oilers highlights and franchise heading into the nhl playoffs 2024 . For continued coverage of nhl highlights today , news and rumors (we covered the arizona coyotes relocation moving story in the last video), and maybe various nhl news today like how the connor mcdavid injury is nothing to worry about, predictions rankings picks and the eventual oilers knights playoff series. Prior to the Ekholm trade, the Oilers longest win streak was 9 games in 2000-01, and they had 5 different 8 game win streaks in the mid 80s. In Ekholm’s first 10 months as an Oiler he saw a 9 game win streak to end the regular season, then an 8 game win streak in November, then a 16 game win streak over the new year. Unreal winning percentage since getting here.

I absolutely love Mattias Ekholm as an Oilers fan. The way he moves the puck, plays physical, and assists Bouchard is truly amazing. He has clicked so well here, and the best thing about the trade is he has term remaining until 2026, so he is here to stay and will be much more likely to sign an extension when the time comes than a player who only played for, say, three months on the team before free agency hits. He also had a hip flexor injury that he recovered from that led to him missing training camp and the preseason, and is truly a hardworking player. I hope Ekholm continues to help the Edmonton Oilers win and potentially go far in the Stanley Cup Playoffs

ekholm has been a perfect fit. he's actually really helped bouchard and nurse. nurse maybe be overpayed but that doesn't mean he's a bad dman. hes valuable to the team and having less on his plate only makes him better. his biggest issue is he tries to do too much. adding ekholm and Vinny emerging has given the oilers a solid D group

I was kind of sad for Schaefer, growing up in Edmonton, get drafted by the Oilers, only to get traded away. But Ekholm is exactly what the doctor ordered. Couple that with the shift in our mentality thanks to what seems to be Paul Coffey's influence, and it's just been nice to see.

If you average out Nurse's contract with Ekholm, Bouchard and Ceci it seems like a pretty reasonable price for a top four. Obviously this has some copium in it because when Bouchard and Draisaitl run out in two years, and Ekholm runs out in three, it's going to look REAL bad. I don't think they can trade Nurse for equal value, so he's in there for the next seven years. Not to mention needing to negotiate McLeod, Holloway and Foegle too. I don''t know much about their prospect pool, but it's been THIN for picks recently, so I don't feel like anyone's coming up to make a big impact anytime soon, including Broberg.

For my money, the best deadline deal in recent history was the Avs getting Lehkonen for Justin Barron and a 2024 2nd rounder. He's so underrated for his value in forechecking and puck retrieval so the Avs star players can stay on the attack. Can play on any line, any situation. And he chips in 0.8 points per game, while being on a $4.5M salary for the next 4 years. Not to take anything away from Ekholm, he's clearly a perfect fit with Bouchard on the blueline. And obviously I'm an Avs homer.

Artturi Lehkonen scored the goal that won the wcf (sweeping the oilers...) and the Stanley cup for the avs but yeah sure, ekholm and his round two appearance is way better than that... shit like is why i hate edmonton fans and i hope they never win a god damn thing.

The last time you made an oilers video was back when they were 2-9-1, so we need more oilers videos!!

I would trade Nurse immediately. 4 million more for what? To take more costly penalties?

Yeah....don't forget 1 week prior the Oilers had their own stick they rec'd on the butt end....Dallas W 5-0 They burned that tape and moved on as I suspect VGK will as well.

This channel is gold. I couldn't agree more. The viking is just the perfect player for the needs of the team. Like you said, I can't imagine this team without him. And don't want to. He just scratches a huge itch

Hockey is a little bit like military, you don´t need the best player for your team but the right player for your team. And people easily forget how much of a dumpster fire Oilers defense was before.
