I have this one and so far has been the most appreciated from non watch enthusiasts. Been a conversation starter more times than any of my Rolex. I don’t wear it enough but I love it. My only Omega thus far but a good one.

I echo this completely. It was my first Omega (just bought a seamaster diver 300), but have 3 Rolex’s. This watch 100% catches more attention from the average person than any of my other watches. It really is eye catching, and it has caused me to turn in to a bit of an Omega fan boy. I have a new found appreciation for the brand.

I have a sapphire sandwich Speedmaster and I admire the relative simplicity of its hand-wind movement. But I love the Blue Side of the Moon with the moon phase complication and the aventurine dial. Worth the nine months that I waited for it.

I have one. It's the second Omega I have brought ( the first was a Deville 22ct gold on alligator for my mother 23 years ago ), but I fell in love with it and then dwelled on it for nearly 18 months before I purchased it. But I love it.

Visited every omega store in Paris and Rome I saw. None had planet oceans. Europeans are generally into nice watches way more than Americans.

I've branched into some other brands (Tudor, Longines, etc) but Omega is still my favorite brand. My Speedmaster is arguably my favorite watch, and my SMP 300 is just beautiful. I plan on buying an Aqua Terra as well. This Speedy is just stunning, a true treasure.

Great review Bruce, I bought this watch in 2022, the original strap with the ceramic buckle is the only weak link, I wanted a ceramic bracelet with it, but my AD told me the only reason Omega doesn’t have the ceramic bracelet is because it will increase the price to at least $20K, when the watch arrived my AD surprised me with the titanium ceramic Clasp and the new strap, and the wearability literally went from the earth to the moon. Merry Christmas and wonderful 2024 full of great reviews.

I've heard that too. But I don't think it's true. RADO within the group offers full colored ceramic bracelets for watches at about 2k. I think it's only a matter of time

@@BruceWilliams Also Hublot (I know, no comments ;)) offers ceramic bracelets for their ceramic cases. But here alternative ceramic deployant clasp and dedicated strap (loking the same as the one the watch originally is sold with) changes everything 180 degrees and puts comfort and wearability into different level.

Future classic. Omega has now answered your wishes regarding the 3869 calibre, although it has made other changes too which aren't all for the better, imo. I wear mine on a semi-matt Omega "croc" leather strap with the ceramic/titanium deployant clasp. It's very comfortable and convenient, saves the original strap and makes the overall look a bit less sporty and more dressy. I agree 42mm would suit many people.

Just wish they would make some of the Dark Side Speedys in 42mm. They all seem to be 44 mm, too large for my wrist.

I scratched the sapphire on mine before the watch even showed any sign of scratch... Turned out to be a fairly expensive repair (AU$1000 ~ US$670)

But sapphire are resistant to scratch. Can you elaborate more?

@@viperRX resitant, but not completely immue to scratches. And the crystal is coated on both sides and the scratch was probably on the coating. Not sure when and how that happened but my 10-year old Seamaster only has the inside coated and the crystal is still like the day I bought it.

This was a classic case of a watch which I loved in videos and photos, but when I tried it on I felt absolutely nothing. Objectively ai can see that it’s well engineered and made, but something about it didn’t feel right on the wrist.
