Gatherer? Always a first for me, the most food per worker.
@knexus50393 жыл бұрын
I would also recommend a gatherer at the beginning for anyone else wanting some fast food production. Before the hunters cabin, before the fishing dock , get a gathering hut. And then put at least one worker there maybe two . they'll continue getting food while you set up for the first year. later on you can put four people there

I think you have the effect of circle around the market wrong. I believe it's how far people will travel from their house to get to a market. I have seen the market workers go way farther out to get supplies.

Sawmill is superior to wood cutters, you can produce firewood with it and lumber. I usually get some lumber then use that to build a stacks burner. An educated wood cutter will take 1 log and produce 4 firewood, but an educated worker at the stacks burner will take 1 log and produce 11 charcoal, almost 3 times more efficent. Combine that with building stone houses which use less fuel to keep warm and you will have more logs for things other than keeping people warm.
@verisimilitudeteller5 жыл бұрын
Also, getting the llamas up and producing food will make life easier. Llama butcher can stretch that meat further and if you get a meat tinnery going that stetches the food even further, same for canned veggies/fruit etc, although because it requires tin one can wait until later for that, but a pasture and butcher for the animals is a fast way to make food go further.
@verisimilitudeteller5 жыл бұрын
I build my entire economy on charcoal production, it's the main trade item for me, that and 20-ish feathers in each trader in order to pay exact amounts. I get logs from the trader, so I have a ready source. One town I have has 7 stacks burners with 2 workers in each and over 10k in logs stockpiled and constantly being converted into charcoal. It allows me to buy anything I want, if I choose to I can cease food production, build 2 food traders and just buy all the food my people need, or anything else for that matter. 2 traders bringing logs in and mass charcoal production makes the game rather easy. I even buy warm coats and gemstone tools with charcoal, so no need for a tailor or blacksmith, or quarries/mines, I buy what I need. Stone roads everywhere. :) I even buy building supplies and the materials to upgrade housing to their highest levels, they consume less fuel and can store more food when larger/upgraded. Great map seed is 1776. It's not totally flat but has a TON of flatland for farms/orchards/pastures.

@deathhimself16535 жыл бұрын
Then, you get a death wave. If people are born at around the same time, they'll die at around the same time. Now this means you're going to have a much smaller labor population than you're used to for a while, needing to cut back on all sorts of things to stabilize. This is the largest danger in the game, even if it doesn't kill you, it will set you back big time. The counter is a steady stream of population growth.

@@deathhimself1653 That's why most games I start are Jack & Jill or Adam & Eve, but when I start a multi family game I build a borading house, they will have kids in a boarding house but at a much slower rate, then I build 1 house per season to let the families move out slowly, then 1 house per season until I have a higher level of food/fuel capacity and a school. I try to have a school built before the first child goes to school. Sometimes I get a few uneducatated but I push hard to get that built quickly.

My gripe with this game that gets accentuated with this mod is that there is essentially only one goal - to expand as much as possible without townsfolk dying. Which is great...but it's kind of a flat challenge after some time. And with CC most of the added elements become purely cosmetic because you don't really need bread/bakery over fish & vanilla food items. People say use the added items for trading, but what is the point of trading, ultimately? Get money to buy more things that are still essentially cosmetic additions that serve no real purpose to advance the game or take it another direction. IDK, with good tycoon games there is a sense amassing wealth & larger population takes you to another tier of game play where you can do more. With Banished it's the same challenge from start to finish and just becomes about distribution and stability. I like it, it's nice and laid back, but after a while when everyone is surviving and happy the point of giving them taverns and luxury items is kind of lost.
@TobelPlays4 жыл бұрын
It does seem to lack some depth beyond just grow and be stable. I miss games like Caesar 3 that had buildings upgrade as you provided more and more wealth, allowing for a metropolitan center or something like that.
@CrStrifey4 жыл бұрын
@@TobelPlays I actually haven't gotten very far in CC but it would be nice if there were a dynamic like in Dawn of Discovery aka Anno 1404 wherein you begin with peasants then to attract and retain higher class citizens and tax income they bring, you need to supply them with luxury/refined goods else they move out or riot. Then you could set goals like instead of just pushing for town with x # of citizens, you could have x # higher class citizens. Alas, it is what it is. Keeping my eye on Transport Fever 2, heard the first one was good. Otherwise it's back to 2003 with Sim City 4.
@knexus50393 жыл бұрын
You asked what was the point of using food products that are not in vanilla. But that was the whole point. Products like bread and walnut bread and apricot bread, fill the need for grains and fruits. so instead of having a separate grain and a separate food product , you now have one product. If you work up the food chain to make canned food, then you just turned your one piece of meat and one piece of vegetable, into much more. When you can turn 1,000 food units into more than 1,000 food units, then you can support bigger and larger villages. But as far as the other issue of stabilizing a town, it's actually shown that you do not need to keep growing bigger. There comes a time when you are population reaches a good balance that the constantly growing new generation fills in the open spots left by the old generation. When you reach that point, you don't have to make more food production or more houses etc Your City cycles itself over and over, generation after generation, with what you have in place already.
@trumplostlol30072 жыл бұрын
It is not a city builder. It is a colony simulation game. You are forced to expand because of natural population growth. Finding resources, producing consumable goods, finding new locations for expansion, .. are the ultimate goals of the game. Some people say this game has no goal. Yes and no. There are many achievements on steam that you can use to challenge yourself. You have to plan ahead for the location of a new market cause ultimately, you want your market to cover most of the houses within the market circle. Think of market as the center of clusters of houses. So, houses should be expanded in clusters surrounding the market and each cluster should have access to natural resources for the people within its cluster. So, in the best case scenario, you will have clusters of houses surrounding the market and have forests, mines and quarry farthest away from the market but close to each cluster of houses. Once your market can't cover new clusters of houses, you need to build a new market. And new expansion should circle around this new market. This way all your citizen will have access to all sorts of different consumable good and be happy and healthy. LOL

Four months late comment here, but if you want to revisit Banished, take a look at one of these two modpacks: 1. MegaMod (found on BlackLiquidGames, the makers of CC, see blackliquidsoftware.com/index.php?/files/file/211-megamod-801/ ) 2. RK Editor Choice Mod (found on World of Banished, a currently-active mod maker forum, see worldofbanished.com/index.php?topic=2925.0 and worldofbanished.com/index.php?board=49.0 ) The CC MegaMod is CC plus a whole bunch of other stuff of various themes. The sheer amount of content can be overwhelming, and organization can be lackluster at times (you can sometimes uncover entire sets of buildings in a single little tab), but it gives you the maximum amount of options for customizing a town. Almost every mod made before 2018 is included in it, except the North mod series. RK Editor Choice is a more vanilla experience. While it includes a few mods, it converts Banished to a more medieval feel. A variety of modmakers who are active today use RK Editor Choice as a baseline, so you can add in mods as you like. Someone made a NOTRE DAME model; it's astounding.

I've heard the occasional famine isn't a big deal cause it will keep the population in check, but when my numbers drop from fifty to ten in a couple years I know something is up. I even tried pushing through it once, but within two generations I had a bunch of old men and no women. Thanks anyways. its kind of a game bug.. What happends, if u dont store a lot of supplies (and mostly food) first, as soon as u build houses, new inhabitants will go to market and grab as much food as they can to their house. So lets say, 2 people in a bigger house will take idk, 500 fish etc, no matter they will use only 10, and will rob your markets... How i deal with that certain issue, never expand houses unless you have 10-20 or more K food stored..
