I also hate that they completely forgot about her fashion business that she started at the end of the first one, just to turn her into a stay at home wife. I can't believe Giselle didn't MAKE an outfit for Morgan that suited her personality and everything, they could have taken this movie in such a different direction, sigh.
@michaelklaus Жыл бұрын
I just realized that when Morgan heads out for her first day in school she is not just wearing clothes that are neither her style nor her size; and not just simply wearing any of Giselle's clothes; she is literally wearing the clothes that Giselle wore the day before. Giselle obviously is an evil stepmother before using the wand. btw. for a second I thought that Gisell had made her dress from the day before into a jacket until I rewound and realized that Gisell wore the same dress and jacket combination only with a belt that held the jacket tight
@SamRK-10008 ай бұрын
It could’ve been really cool if Giselle was perhaps more “mature” and if they explored more that Giselle and Morgan have in common, like unexpected things they might agree on but are keep parts of who they are as people and bond more, Giselle realizing it’s ok to be realistic and pragmatic while Morgan realizes it’s ok to be unrealistic or have have dreams sometimes. I dunno, they could’ve told a new story without having to spend like 40% of the movie using magic as an excuse for character development
@mamamarshmallow Жыл бұрын
One of the things that bothered me is that in the first movie, they said that true love's kiss is the most powerful magic, but in this one they say it's memories! Which one is it?! (my vote is true love's kiss, probably because I love the first movie so much)
@PinkPopcast Жыл бұрын
Haha I know, it took me a second to get on board. True loves kiss could’ve easily been a mothers kiss on her daughters cheek

@@Jamestopboy I agree with that. People bashed Maleficent, but I think it's a case of memories powering "true love's kiss" in action. Philip couldn't wake Aurora in that version because there weren't enough memories between them to form a bond of true love.

I basically heard about this for the first time through Disenchanted. I really wanted a movie where we see Nancy and Edward’s love story. Imagine it starting with a funny and sappy song between them and as the movie matures, they have a strong, powerful, and romantic ballad. Of course Idina gets a fantastic I want song. Maybe Edward too as he tries to figure his place out as king. I also wanted to see Nancy adjust to Andalasia, but fall in love with it because of her love for fairytales. I felt Giselle, Morgan’s, and Robert’s story was finished narratively. Maybe they can cameo when nancy and Edward need them.

My girlfriend (who's crazy good at knowing stuff) said this movie lost the soul of the first one, where the root of the comedy was the absurdity of a character out of her element. It worked because she didn't fit in in the city. It would've been nice to keep that somehow, maybe displacing another character. The new one didn't feel so much as a comedy in my opinion too. It wasn't bad, it just felt like the only connection with the 1st movie were the characters, didn't feel like a sequel at all.

My sibling made a great point with her thought that they should’ve had Morgan’s wish at the end take them back to NYC bc that’s home to her. They could’ve figured out how to make them all comfortable from there (maybe move to one of the areas of NYC that’s a little greener. Maybe just start a rooftop garden/animal feeding station with Giselle. Almost definitely get an in-home portal to Andalasia and go visit sometimes. Compromise.) I think that change and a bit more emotional logic/w how the wish was warping Giselle, Morgan, and Robert’s real world feelings into fairytale ones would’ve drastically improved things. Like that moment of Giselle being like “that’s sarcasm isn’t it?” As her wicked self was great! If they could’ve just made more of a connection b/w her feeling jealous/bitter that Morgan would give their new home a chance for a boy she just met but not for her own mother, and shown Morgan feeling like Giselle just wanted to get rid of her so that she and Robert could have their happily ever after, and Robert feeling like he doesn’t want to work for a big firm anymore (fight dragons) bc he can make more of a difference with a small practice (saving that little girl), idk I just think making those types of parallels would’ve made the story hit a lot harder all around for me. As is, it still makes me feel for Giselle and Morgan and I’m glad that the movie is primarily about the mother-daughter relationship, I just wish some of the emotional plot were done a bit better so that the whole movie felt well-rounded. As for the moving plot, as someone who was moved (for my stepdad’s personal preference) from a diverse city into the super racist suburbs for high school, I fully agree that moving your kids away from everything they’ve ever known/a place they love for your own edification is trifling (barring certain mental health concerns and stuff), esp from a progressive population to a highly bigoted one which is often the case when you move to American suburbia. (Tbf Giselle might not be as aware of that aspect since her main exposure to our world is NYC but still)

It would've been cooler if she wished New York City was Andalasia, but her and her family didn't change. I loved Enchanted because of the "fish out of water" aspect. If she wished that New York was Andalasia, her family would be the fishes out of water. Her husband waking up to go to work, only to be told his job is to defeat a dargon?? Their lives would've been flipped up side down, and they would've had a hard time adjusting. Morgan thinking she's supposed to go to school, and someone asks her to try on this shoe and it FITS? Now, Tyson is determined to marry her. Giselle realizing that although she loves Andalasia, she's used to the big city and STILL feels out of place, AND her family still isn't happy!!! Hello! That's her villain arc. That would've been fun.

As a stepchild myself this movie really hit for me - the idea of growing pains and the awkwardness of people who love each other but aren't meshing as usual. Never for a moment did I doubt how much Morgan truly adored Giselle while also understanding how forcing - or trying to - Morgan to be happy ASAP was not what either needed. There definitely could be some improvements in execution - perhaps a small conversational moment after everything is fixed where they apologize to each other before the dream catch-all is revealed - but overall I also have no real complaints.

I genuinely thought SO MUCH was going to be different about this film when I watched it. Within the setup, they were SO heavy-handed with emphasizing that only a "true Andalasian son or daughter" could use the wand to make a wish, AND made a point of showing that Giselle was orphaned in the woods as a baby. So when Giselle used the wand, my mind immediately thought "OH okay so the fairytale life shee's wishing for is going to go HORRIBLY wrong because PLOT TWIST she is NOT a true Andalasian and was in fact a normal human child left in Andalasia." And then I thought that Morgan was going to go up against Giselle an a confrontation with the help of all their friends because Giselle's fully become the evil queen, and it was going to be resolved because Giselle finally has a revelation like in the first film where everything doesn't need to be perfect. They were gonna reach some sort of understanding because found family is just as real as blood family and that true love was going to break the curse/spell.
@DrawciaGleam02 Жыл бұрын
I see "true Andalasian son or daughter" as someone who has formed a genuine connection to someone from Andalasia. Sofia doesn't have blo relations to the king and queen yet is seen as a true Andalasian daughter because they LOVE her. So it makes sense Morgan was able to use the wand in the end.

10:35 yeah I kinda hoped that Edward and Nancy were expecting and that Nancy was - unlike Edward who is blissfully unaware about the mechanics od Andalasia - was fearing that this might indeed be her or their death penalty and that their kid might end up with at least one dead parent well maybe this is the plot of Thricenchanted EDIT: saying that I think I could see them being cursed like Sleeping Beauty's parents and then Giselle, adult Morgan, and teen Sofia have to play their part as "fairy" godmothers to help their kid on a hero's journey while they have to deal with their still not fully solved relationship issues

12:36 love that movie; used a lot of these characters once for the background of a p&p roleplaying game character and our dm used a that for a really neat story arc for our party; good times

17:27 although Cinderella's stepmom just favors her biological daughters and wants one of them to marry the prince instead and Snow White's stepmom wants to kill her (except for the adaption Snow White: A Tale of Terror, in which the stepmom also wants to wed and/or bed the prince, afair... and I think she succeeds in the latter; great perfomance by Sigourney Weaver if you ask me); in Mother Holle, the stepmom is equally abusive as in Cinderella and sends her bio-daughter down the well so she can come back as golden as her step-daughter; in Seven Ravens the stepmom turns the princes into ravens... have to look up the non-Grimm-fairytales... so usually they have better things to do than "block love"

the ending of this movie is kinda meh if you ask me; I guess that at some point in the production they wanted to reveal that Giselle wasn't born in Andalasia after all hence the foundling backstory (guess we have to resolve that in that Thricenchanted, too); but then they wanted to have Morgan deal with the fear of loosing Giselle; and also they wanted to create tension by having Malvina get the want but at the same time cop out by having her not being able to use the wand; otherwise it would have been a perfect explanation why Giselle's wishes turn out so bad: because a non-Andalasian can use it but their wises turn evil; also if you notice, the movie resolves the tension in the relationship of Morgan and Giselle without ever digging for the origin of the tension; but the scene introducing the wand still seems to work with that origin; Morgan is not Andalasian is a stand-in for Morgan not being the biological daughter of Giselle whereas Sofia is; so Morgan is afraid of being replaced with her parents new daughter; I think that if these plot points were NOT discused it just makes this production even worse also... the stuff I said in another comment about the failure of Andalasia fashion

Hi One of My Favorite movies Is Enchanted and I am so excited to see your reaction to the sequel! • I like the storyline/idea of Giselle making a magical wish that backfires and turns her into an evil stepmother.I think it was a decent and fun sequel. •I do think the storyline had potential but I don’t really completely like the execution of it. There are so many missed storyline opportunities in this movie. •Honestly I think what mad me enjoy the movie much more was because of the main cast, they gave it their all in this movie! Amy Adams acting evil is everything! •Also I am happy Idina Menzel is finally able to sing in Disenchanted. But I wish there were more Nancy and Edward scenes..

You know what, maybe she’s (Giselle) going through postpartum, after “watching” this with y’all and watching it once when I wasn’t a mom, it’s kinda making sense

It kinda explains the wanting of ‘change of scenery’ and wanting things to be back to ‘normal’. Idk I could be reaching 😭

I liked the plot but I feel like the music wasn't as good as the first movie's, tho that "But I'm badder" song was pretty damn catchy

I loved this movie but for totally different reasons than the first one. The sequel feels like they didn't rewatch the first one lol
