Yes and No. The newer versions of the 2.0L TSI engine are available with a combination of direct- AND port-injection, addressing that problem. Also, carbon deposits aren't a huge issue to begin with. Accessing and cleaning the valves really is a piece of cake.
@xNewNickx3 жыл бұрын
The Golf VII R has dual injection. So no significant carbon build-up. In normal driving it only uses indirect injection. Direct injection only comes into play when pushing the car really hard.

I own a standard vw golf, only a 1.4 litre which puts out 120hp but it's a very capable engine that punches above its weight. Pulls well from low speeds/overtaking and nice smooth and quiet at highways speeds. I can very much believe this Golf R is a real blast to drive. The GTI' s although not as fast as the R's are also supposed to be a great drive.

Best suspension mod on a haldex car like this is aluminium front control arms with anti lift solid bushings giving more positive caster, transforms the cars handeling, also save 2.5 kg of unsprung weight, turn in and cornering stablity is 10x better with this simple mod, just did it to my a3 8p 2.0tfsi quattro(haldex) from 2005. Best investment i did on the cars supsension.👍

I used to have a SHO; unfortunately, the Americans either can’t or won’t build a car to last. Mine started falling apart with only 60k on the clock. All the American brands are poorly made from cheap materials in my experience. Ford is probably the least bad of the Big 3 and FCA is definitely the worst, but none of them are good. Their trucks do seem to be better made though. Oh, and SHOs depreciate like a lead balloon. Mine (fully optioned) was over $50k new, I only got $8k as a trade in just six years later. That’s a huge dick punch.

Replacing the plastic water pump on the 2.0 TSI engine is a real pain in the ass as you have to remove the whole intake to get to it. Oh, and no cam cover gasket on this engine as there is no cam cover. . Instead, the cam bridge is adhered with the special VW green colored Anaerobic Flange Sealant (which gets old and then leaks oil down to the water pump swelling the rubber gaskets of the water pump flanges, cracking the plastic water pump, and causing it to leak.)
@MrCarGuy3 жыл бұрын
The plastic water pumps are an inexcusable decision by VW.
@petejilka9683 жыл бұрын
Yes. Any kind of oil leak that drips down to the water pump swells the rubber gaskets and blows out the plastic flanges causing it to leak. I went with the all aluminum one the last time I replaced the water pump on my CC. Hopefully, that is the last water pump I will have to replace.
@komentierer3 жыл бұрын
@@MrCarGuy You clearly never work on modern cars. Every manufacturer I know of EXCLUSIVELY uses plastic water pumps in their current cars. You'll have to look to the aftermarket to find other options made of metal, because the aftermarket monetizes that fear of plastic. The truth is that the bearing in your water pump will wear out long, long, long before the plastic housing can cause any problems. Metal water pumps are noisier, more susceptible to vibration, more expensive and (if the rotor element is made of metal) even prown to higher rates of failure.

I run an R as a daily driver. They are a great fun car but they can sure drink the fuel. If I am late for work, (and the journey is across some wonderful English rural roads), it can get as low as 16 mpg on that run, (and that's to a UK gallon so 14 US). I think they enrich fuel to cool the intake, but in "normal" use with light throttle low 30's are easily possible. They sound good too, even if some of it is artificially broadcast through the speakers. Overall a great performance vehicle all the better for its "wolf in sheep's clothing" everyday car looks.

@@stuffhappens5681 well, mileage and specific color may play a role here, assembly region too. I live in russia, and vws and skodas have pretty bad rep when it comes to painting here. @Yawbus19763 жыл бұрын
Chipped paint on the bonnet is caused by practically driving up other peoples arses on the motorway. Keep some distance and it doesn't happen. So, sign of a bad driver rather than bad paint job.
