You need 70lbs at least to perform a set. Until you can do 10 with 70lbs you shouldn't even be thinking about trying 42lbs.

Thank you! I am confused. I was able to do 24lbs 4.5 months ago. That was by 1.5 months of effort starting from 54lbs. Then I didn’t do any for 3 months so I lost muscles, strength and skills and had to restart. Where do you get 70lbs? Appreciated.

@@sparkfit6 I'm not sure what the next weights are but you probably need an extra 2 or 3 plates to what you are using in the video.

@JGH1708 I guess it depends on your program or method. I mostly use supersets, ie, trying the 1rm, then adding more assistance, until I finish 5 reps in total, I will call it a day for pull-up. For powerlifting I mostly do strong lifting 5x5, which seems what you have emphasized. By this way I feel more motivated with still growing muscles on my back without getting too fatigue or discouraged. I was able to do -36lbs, 1 rep and rest 5 seconds and 1 more rep just yesterday, 1.5 months after resuming (and even had 3 weeks of sickness in this 1.5 months).
