8100 - Breaking the World Record for Most Pull-ups in 24 Hours

Had one goal from April to October and that was to get the title of most pull-ups in 24 hours.
Dreamed of this moment for months, each and every day.
I would wake up in the middle of the night to go pee and would be counting reps in my mind, "1, 2, 3, 4, 5..." as I would normally train with sets of 10.
This day was far from my best performance and I actually had much better training days prior to this where I was going faster and had zero stomach issues.
You never know how your body will react in a 24 hour span though and despite all of that, I was able to get it done.
While the record has since been broken, nothing will take away the accomplishment that myself, my family and my friends did on that day in October.
Keep in mind that I did all of this training with a full-time job. I don't get paid to do pull-ups and I would have to make time for it every week leading up. The point is, if it means a lot to you then you'll make time for it.
Couldn't have done it without my wife, Alicia, who supported this idea from the start. If you don't have someone who supports your dreams then you're with the wrong person haha. But seriously, it matters a lot.
3 times a week I'd do 2,000 pull-ups to get me in shape for the 8100. From April to October, I increased my max by 4,000 reps. All it takes is all you got. Would do pull-ups two hours prior to work and get 1,000 done and then do the remaining 1,000 after work and get done around 7pm.
Lonely nights are a must if you want to be the best.
My brother, my dad, my wife, my friends... couldn't thank them enough if I tried. Also, Eric McCormack is an absolute legend. Such a good trainer, coach, person. Couldn't have done it without his intensity and encouragement.
Lastly, thank you Luke Dusenbury for making this film and capturing this moment! He's the greatest videographer in the game and his vision for his films is like dang Spielberg.
Anyway, onto the next!
Thank you to my sponsors as well:
MTN OPS SUPPLEMENTS: Code "TRUETT" for 20% off your order
mtn-ops.sjv.io...
Their energy products helped me stay awake during these 24 hours and they're products I use every day. Protein shakes, energy supplements, fish oil. They got it all and I recommend them.
TEN THOUSAND: Code "THANES15" for 15% off your order
bit.ly/3HDCofL
Best gym apparel in my opinion. Rocked their stuff in both attempts and do every time I go to the gym. They're like lululemon, but for men.

Hey Truett, my name is Gavin, I’m 17 years old, and you inspire me. I found your 4100 video in June of 2022, and I’ve lost track of the number of times that I’ve watched it. I could hardly do one pull-up on the minute when I first saw it, but something about what you did resonated with me, and by last spring, I was at the point of being able to do 30 in five minutes and change. Obviously, I’m nowhere near your numbers, but seeing what you’re capable of inspires me to be better. Having been able to watch you since your first video here on KZbin has been awesome, and I’m really glad that you’ve had so much success. I don’t think that I’ll ever go for the record, but I do want to do a 10k run, followed by 100 pull-ups, repeated 10 times, for a total of 100k and 1000 pull-ups (which might be an interesting weekly fitness challenge for you to try!). If it wasn’t for you, I would never have tried to improve with my own pull-ups back in 2022, so thank you, Truett, and congrats on the record.

Very impressive however his record was broken handedly by a real Australian, Gary Lloyd (QPS SERT operator) who clocked 8,600 in the 24hrs. Nevertheless, 8,100 is very impressive, especially for a 'real american'

The day that you got your pull up record was the day that I accomplished my goal of running a 6 miles desert road. The first time I attempted to run this road I failed and went out too fast giving up at 4 miles. When I came back I not only ran it faster but ended up running 10 miles farther. It’s amazing to think how peoples lives are so different but yet all aligned at the same time with our own accomplishments. These are the kind of feats that inspire me, hopefully when I grow up I will be running ultra marathons and makin waves. Great video!

All day I kept checking the live feed to see how you were progressing and even though you couldn't hear me, I was cheering! The timing of this day was important to me because I was at a point where I was deciding if I should train for and run a marathon or not (first timer), and at one point I said to myself "if Truett can break the pull-up record, I can run a marathon!" So while you were ripping the skin off your hands, I was hitting the pavement to start the training. So thanks for motivating me to be better! Thanks for taking all of us on the journey with you!

In July of last year he underwent his amputation surgery and in October, on his first birthday, he received his first prosthetic leg. Fast-forward 3 months and he is on the verge of taking his first unsupported steps and I see this video... I hope my Truett and I can be as awesome as you and your dad are!!
