I had both shoulders frozen at different times. Dr. Mandell's advice is right on spot. It works. Especially with added heat. The best and the fastest healing I got was wall stretching in a very warm pool. You can do it in a Jacuzzi. I wish all of frozen shoulders to heal fast.

Great advice. I did that last year to help heal my frozen shoulder. But I also installed a pull-up bar in my house and used to do passive hanging 10-20sec to begin ... it was painful at first but after a few days amazing relief could be felt as the joints open, stretch and the muscles strengthen. Now I can hang up to 2min and even do pull-ups. Frozen shoulder was yesterday. Hope you all get better!!

I read from some other “expert” it should be an “active” hang. Nobody can agree on anything it seems …. By Active I mean you keep the muscles tense .. dont’ sink your shoulders over your head …

Thank you so very much Dr. Mandrell for your encouragement ! After 30 plus years since rotator cuff surgery , now working to break up the scar tissue after repeatedly reinjuring it listing things a bit heavy. Thankfully I've discovered really good therapists here where I live that are guiding me too. Your encouragement is priceless.

I suffering from frozen shoulder since 5 months, due to over training. I do elastic-band training, scapula pushups and planking. And... yes I do a stretching exercise very similar to what is show in this video. I grab a pull up bar and slowly lower by body and hold that for about 30secs. Recovery is slow but I see I made progress.

I suffered for a couple of years with a frozen shoulder, which I guess is something Type 1 diabetics are prone to getting. I went through so much physical therapy and cortisone injections with no relief. Thank goodness for a fantastic surgeon at the Mayo Clinic who operated on it and it hasn't bothered me since. The surgery was very painful but I'm so glad I had it. And that was one of the exercises I had to do in PT. I'm glad to see it has helped others.

Great tip. Working with a physical therapist on this now. Suspected tear or inflammation where the bicep attaches. He told me most people over 60 have microscopic tears in rotator cuff, so keeping the shoulder mobile is important.

Thank you very much. I've been suffering from I believe Frozen Shoulder now for about a year. Went to many Doctors but they just sent me to more doctor's not telling me what was wrong. The more I googled.... It sounded like Frozen Shoulder. I went to a massage therapist twice a week for like 4 month's and it started to work....but now it's coming back! My Frozen Shoulder was pretty bad! I couldn't even move my Arm. It's much better now but....yes, massage therapy help's loosen the tightness!

@@bevsaramaga4952 hello bev. I'm not a dr., so take this information with that knowledge. I got in five years ago in my right shoulder, it was very painful...I couldn't sleep for 3 months as it was freezing up. I went to the emergency room the second day and they told me what it was and that they couldn't do anything about it, except try to manage the pain. It came on rapidly and with no warning or apparent trauma. I went to an orthopedic surgeon on month 4 ( took that long to get the appointment) all he wanted to do was cut...I said no way. I did stretches everyday to the point of uncomfortable and just lived with it. Frozen shoulder has 3 phases and mine combined lasted a total of 3 years before it 99 percent recovered. It occurs more frequently in women and that those suffering from diabetes. I'm a male, non diabetic and in good shape, so there isnt a firm profile of who'll get it. I just got it in my left shoulder about 6 months ago, but to a much lesser degree. Odd are if you get it in one shoulder, you'll get it in both, but the only good part is that it doesn't return to a shoulder that has experienced it.I went to physical therapy right away and I think it really prevented further freezing. Another good practice is to just hang from a bar like we did as kids, with your arms fully stretched. You can moderate the weight if it's too painful by supporting yourself with your feet. A good warm up prior to stretching is recommended. If you're doing an exercise and it makes it worse, I'd back off. I use the la pull down with light weights only to give it enough resistance for a stretch. Good luck.

Is this meant for when the inflammation phase is over (and the full stiffness occurs) or even during phase 1? Also didn‘t get the comment on scar tissue. FS is not an injury but exponential growth of tissue cells (just saying as quite often the term FS is used for all kinds of stiff shoulder aka lack of mobility issues). Note that your suggested exercise probably also does make sense for any other such things at it is really a soft but effective one in closed chain controlled manner

I did this instinctively yesterday. With a slight twist... when you get on a level where it still feels comfortable, rather than finger walking any farther... you put the palm of your hand against the wall and carefully start pushing against the wall. It will feel weird but after 10sec or a bit more.. the rotation muscles around your arm start to really relax and instant relief comes. It also makes it possible to build up strenght for particular movements. Wanted to thank you for your video on lemonjuice & garlick for clogging of the vains.. It worked !
