i'd never heard of this series ("Public Defender") before - i'm very impressed - this episode was very polished - with a tight script - well directed - with capable actors - the incessant background music had been a tradition in the movies and early TV - that has become more streamlined since then these episodes were all based on actual cases - i think they name the pubic defender & city at the end as a stamp of authenticity - which means that the original events occurred in Columbus OH - which means they made some big changes to the story to fit LA i don't recall the actor who played the public defender - Reed Hadley - but a look at his filmography lists quite a few films that i've seen - he was about 44 at the filming of this show - but looked much older - he would eke out a couple more decades i recognize the actor in a guest role - Peter Hansen - largely cuz of his co-starring role in one of my favorite films - WHEN WORLDS COLLIDE - he has a distinctive voice and look another one with a distinctive look - matronly Ann Doran who appeared briefly at the start - she had a long career - i'd seen her countless times in movies & TV i didn't recognize the pretty actress who brightened up the role of the defendant - canadian-born Suzanne Alexander - unlucky with casting - she was in her 40s when she thru herself out of a San Francisco hotel room

probably because most of them have far too many clients to be able to do little more for each of them than show up in the court room on time.

How would you know? Have you needed one? Are you a public defender? Do you volunteer your time to help their offices? If you had any real experience at all, you would know that public defenders are sadly very overworked and terribly underfunded. It's called burnout, not "no effort." BE the change you want to see. There are loads of programs in counties all across the USA where people with little or no experience can volunteer their time to help public defenders. So put your money where your mouth is, and shame on you for your harsh judgment.

You can watch all 97 episodes of One Step Beyond for free on the KZbin channel "One Step Beyond". The copyright on this great old series was allowed to lapse, so this entire series is free to watch. Every one of the 97 episodes of that great old series One Step Beyond, which ran from 1959 thru 1961, is better than the video uploaded here. And why shouldn't people complain about an upload that this content creator mistitled. Pretty shabby work if you ask me. Don't appreciate your sanctimonious attitude.
@trevorbrown_artistАй бұрын
Its not a complaint as much as an observation. I am well-versed in the episodes of One Step Beyond and was confused I had never heard of The Sapphire Mink, and had to do research to discover if it was an episode I had missed, which it wasn't. The way these algorithms work is they suggest programs similar to what you were already watching, I was watching an anthology show and was eager to partake in another one, but this is just a fifties legal drama. Words mean things as do titles, it would be nice if this name was corrected for those actually looking for Public Defender.

Yea if the public defender were or would be honestly a fighter for the purpose of the person carring the truth and nothing but the truth they stood up for justic. Of the client . Then they would be honorably favored. Most don't really vare for the truth and justic because they"re not hetting paid they only get paid if the person plead guity . Of domething yhey honestly fid"nt do , if they pled .not guity. The public defender fon"t really gight gor the inccoint. What use pf being a lawyer! If you want do a justsfied job for the public. Whom ever it may be. Gor a slack public defender. , you might as well be a garbage collecter gor ehat eorth you give the person thst truely need your help. This goes out the all slack public defenders supposely defendind the justifief person period.
