Found this in the owners manual: Disabling Keyless Unlocking: With the vehicle off, press and hold [LOCK] and [UNLOCK] on the RKE [REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY] transmitter at the same time for approximately three seconds. The turn signal lamps will flash four times quickly to indicate access is disabled. Using any exterior handle to unlock the doors or open the liftgate will cause the turn signal lamps to flash four times quickly, indicating access is disabled. If disabled, disarm the alarm system before starting the vehicle. Enabling Keyless Unlocking: With the vehicle off, press and hold [LOCK] and [UNLOCK] on the RKE transmitter at the same time for approximately three seconds. The turn signal lamps will flash twice quickly to indicate access is enabled.

I'm going on my 11th year with my Nissan Leaf (bought new for around $25.6k with all the rebates). I bought it because being retired and only doing short trips it is all I need (Long Trips - I take my Harley). Maintenance-wise EVs can't be beat if you take care of them (my total maintenance cost over all is less than $500, incl. a flat tire replacement). Batteries still give me around a mid-70s range from the original 105 mile range, because despite being passive cooling if you never keep the vehicle fully charge for long periods of time and garaged, the batteries last. I expect to get another 5-10 more years from the original batteries.

Same here. Bought my Leaf SL new in 2011. Now has 40,500 miles on it. Battery capacity is down to 5 bars. I can drive only 30-40 miles on a full charge. Car always garaged and in a moderate climate. Nissan recently quoted me $13,500 to replace the battery. No way. I never got 100 miles on a full charge when it was new. 80-85 at most. This Bolt EUV looks like a good replacement for my falling Leaf.

@@wmalden My Leaf has one third your miles and I still can fully charge and can make about 70 mile range. I kept my battery happy by never leaving it fully charged for long periods of time (usually and hour or two) and it was garaged. Just recently the only high cost maintenance item that hit me was a water pump going out. I expect to get several more years out of the car.

Leased my 2022 Bolt EUV Premier about 5 weeks after you got yours. Currently have 5491 miles on it. Definitely recommend the adaptive cruise control, will never own another car without it. Also will never have another ICE car! After 11 months of driving, I'm averaging 4.8 miles per kWh. Charging to 80% gives me an estimated range of 233 miles. Most of my driving is around town, resulting in an average of 5.0-5.2 miles per kWh. Until a recent 2200 mile trip, I had a lifetime average of 5.0 miles per kWh (at 3200 miles on the car). During my road trip, the car only averaged 4.5 miles per kWh. Back when I could still charge to 100%, I was seeing an estimated range of 320 miles (the range estimate proved to be quite accurate). I found the leather seats to be very comfortable throughout a day of driving. Enjoyed having the ventilated seats, very cooling when it was hot out. So far I haven't noticed any of the problems that you brought up (keeping my fingers crossed - LOL). Thank you for a very informative video, looking forward to watching your follow-up video.

I ordered a Bolt Euv, want to ask you how is the rear suspension on this car? I read some reviews where were complaining about rear suspension being too soft and bouncy when going over potholes or bumps, is that correct? Thanks
@leonardwright2835
@leonardwright2835 2 жыл бұрын
@@stefanbololoi7110 I am not an expert on car suspension systems but I didn't notice the Bolt EUV being too soft or bouncy compared to other cars I've owned over the last 60 years. Granted, I'm primarily a Chevy man, I've had a few Buicks and a Cadillac that I wasn't impressed with compared to the Chevys of the same era. The Bolt EUV is a nice solid car. I will say that it is much more of a daily driver for around town use compared to taking it on long trips. Not because of the ride but because of the slow charge rate (even using DCFC chargers) and the lower range you get during expressway driving (not much chance to use the regen feature on an expressway). I did accumulate about 340 extra miles from the regen during my 2244 mile trip but I can consistently get about 50 miles of additional distance around town during 200 miles of driving (same rate on the trip would have added over 500 miles of free regen mileage).

Good review of your Bolt EUV. I was an early adopter with a 2017 Bolt EV Premier and it has been the best car I have ever owned. I haven't had any quality issues, especially like the ones you mentioned. I absolutely love the rearview mirror video and one pedal driving. I do wish it had adaptive cruise control, but not a big deal. I also wish it had an option for all wheel drive for Utah winters, but with front wheel drive, it performs as well or better than any other 2 wheel drive vehicle. I like the looks of the EUV better and wouldn't hesitate to buy one if I needed another vehicle. I get about 300 miles of range in summer and 200 miles in winter if fully charged, though I typically only charge to 90% to reduce wear on battery.

@Kimmer
@Kimmer 2 жыл бұрын
@@robertfaulkner7152 The EPA rating is based on average use including city and highway driving as well as winter and summer driving. It's actually a pretty good estimate as a yearly average. However, my drive to work, for example, doesn't require me to get on the freeway where I typically would drive 70 to 80 mph. I go on roads with speed limits between 30 and 55 mph which greatly improves the efficiency of electric cars. So, in the summer, I get over 300 miles of range typically when it's warmer. The cold decreases battery efficiency and I only get around 200 to 230 miles range in the cold winter months in Utah driving to work. We often drive however on freeways when going to events on weekends which decreases the potential range. So, overall, the EPA range is a good estimate of what to expect with normal driving throughout the year, but it can vary a lot depending on driving technique, temperature, and speed. By the way, these ranges were with the older battery, so I expect a little better this summer with my new improved battery.

You do know your electric vehicle is worse than a gas? The vehicle has more poisonous material in it than any gas vehicle.. Your batteries are so poisonous we have no means to dispose of them. On top of that in about another 4 to 6 years you're going to have to replace those batteries. It will cost you the same as the vehicle. Worst of all, they have to mine 10x more area just to get the rear Earth materials to build your car.

I was looking at a new 2022 EUV at the dealership and it ALSO had that same bit of weatherstripping on the rear hatch stream free and sticking up. Should be fixable with some 3M adhesive, but that tells me an assembly problem that is consistent. Maybe the robot arms doesn't start applying glue soon enough for that area.

I have had a Bolt EUV for two years, and I have not had any problems like the ones mentioned on the video. I apprecieate the candor and truthfulness displayed, so I know what to expect. There is a big difference in range and climate as was emphasized and explained, but by doing a few things as others have mentioned helps. Using the heated seat option and less cabin heat is a good start in cold weather. The summer is a different story. LIving in a very hot area, the only consolation is that I can charge the Bolt every night when I know the a/c will be used throughout the day. As with any vehicle, it is a trade off with want and necessity, but overall the Bolt has peformed significantlly as has been indicated by serveral of the owners. The level of satisfaction seems to always vary on how and when the Bolt is driven.

Good review. It looks like DCFC will be 1hour for every 200 miles. Less in winter. Almost acceptable. A few more miles or less time charging and I would definitely buy. The issues are very minor, the tiny weatherstrip is for air, just tear it off, each door is sealed with a 1 inch rubber strip. The tailgate can be closed by touching the exterior if you can reach. The driver chair will still slide no biggie. Thanks for the video .

15:43 Most of the complaints about the seats are hold overs from the 2017 Bolt EV's seats, which were narrower, firmer, and had a lot less padding. However, the seats have been modified several times over the years, and the seats in the 2022 Bolt EV/EUV are actually the 3rd or 4th generation seats. I'd be surprised if most of the people still complaining about the seats have even sat in the 2019 Bolt EV, let alone the 2022. While I don't know that I personally agree, I gave someone a ride in both the 2022 Bolt EV 2LT (perforated leather seats) and the KIA EV6, and according to them, the Bolt EV's seats were "much more comfortable." To me, they were about the same, so I think that might have been due to seating position. Either way, it's a good example of how far the Bolt EV's seats have come in terms of comfort.

Thanks for the review! I ordered my Bolt EUV last week (no estimated arrival time) and going to trade in my 2015 Sonic LT. The Sonic has 130k miles on it, and unfortunately starting to get regular repairs and maintenance done. I figured I should put that $1000/month toward a car I’ve been wanting for the last few years instead of keeping this car running. The dealership already had the car ordered, last week was the last day they could customize it. They have no idea when it will be built and when it will arrive, but they assured me it wouldn’t be canceled because of the discontinuation later this year. A lot of the negatives you brought up are just little things that I sort of gotten used to with Chevy over the years. A minor thing breaking here or there, or whatever. My old Cavalier had a lot of these issues too. I take the best care of my Sonic as I can, you’d think it’s brand new just by looking at it, inside and out. Thankfully, I can (hopefully) charge at home. My garage is all set up, but I still need the electrician to come out and make sure an install can actually happen, my breaker is in the basement, so I hope it doesn’t go too far over what Chevy is willing to cover. My Cavalier lasted my 9 years, my Sonic just hit 5 a month ago. Ideally, I’d love the Bolt EUV to last me ten years. This is the first car I’m buying brand new. Any used car I was looking at was over $20k, so I might as well get a new car.

It would be great to hear how GM took care of the issues and if the repaired parts hold up or still break over time. I also suggest signing up for a Bolt users forum. lots of cool information there and Im sure you will get the answer to the lock question. Again thanks for the Video, and get the stuff that does not work corrected for free under warranty. Then do another video on how that experience was and did they fix it or does it still break. We did not take the time to read the owners manual. So for 6 months we charged at 8 Amps. I was watching a youtube video of a person that found a very strange way to charge his car faster by messing with the plug. This pushed me to think we might be able to charge it faster by just reading the manual. In the mainual, we found that you could set the charging amps to 12 amps from 8 amps. This made a big difference in our Chevy Bolt lives! We have to set it to 12 amps each time we charge it. I wish I could flip that around. I also installed a heat detector above the car so that I have time to get out of the house if the car over heats and burns the house down. We love our Bolt now that we charge at 12 amps! I reside in Michigan where all GM products are built and the delivery seems to be much easier, addressing issues, and cars being on the lot . I haven’t seen anything go over MSRP . How many Bolts, in total, are GM actually selling in 2022? I've heard, due to the highly publicized fires, it's no longer a desired vehicle. And, thank LG Chem for destroying its reputation if that is the case. When GM lost the incentive, I purchased a 2021 Kona EV. It was a very good vehicle, but was wary of the resale value due to LG Chem batteries catching on fire so traded it in for a 2022 Ioniq 5. GM needed to do two things with the updated version of the Bolts: 1. Change the name 2. Improve the charging rate 3. Bonus - dump LG Chem as a supplier; instead they are used as a supplier of the highly touted Ultium batteries using 2017 technology and the resulting slow as molasses charging rate. Very disappointed with GM after such a good few years for the Bolt

I have a question for those who own a Bolt in weather such as in Las Vegas or Phoenix. I live in one of these climates. What if I park my car inside my garage and charge it as normal with a 240 volt outlet, but then I drive to work and there is no shade for the car, and no power available to plug into, not even level 1? Certain parts of the day during the summer easily reach over 100 and sometimes over 110 F, how will the car behave? Does it have to constantly run the cooler for the battery, and will I come back out to the car at the end of my shift with significantly reduced charge left? Or is it really not that bad? Or does it not need to cool the battery if the car is parked and hasn't been driven for several hours?

Stefan, Currently restricted to 80% charge until I get the new battery (which your new car will already have). Before the 80% restriction, I was getting 300-325 miles on a full charge. Regen is your best friend, can substantially increase your range. Learning how to use one pedal driving and the regen paddle by the steering wheel is essential for best mileage. Personally I seldom use the brakes, just try to maintain a safe distance behind the car in front of me and let regen and use the paddle to come to a full stop.

The only troubles I have had with mine in 15k miles is that 1) occasionally I will look at the dashboard while its parked and the green light will NOT be on even though the car is plugged in and electricity is available in the plug (this occurs AFTER it is full charged, not during charging) whereas the manual states the light should _ALWAYS_ be on when plugged in, either blinking (charging) or steady (charged). This seems to correspond to when it is warm enough outside that the fan and possibly AC compressor came on right after charging (it never comes on DURING charging), seems like the charger is overheating and confusing _something_ in the BMS. I have taken it to the dealer and they didnt find anything, but this is also the dealer that asked me "Who makes the Volt?" when I called to see if warranty service was completed on my Volt, so... And 2) the windshield glass reflects a LOT of light from the top of the dashboard into my eyes if it is anything like sunny outside, to the point I HAVE to wear polarized sunglasses or take a risk of not seeing cars coming at me or people in the road. The Volt had this too (worse, actually; I had hoped changing cars would fix it). What I really wanted was a Hyundai Ioniq 5. But they were estimating THREE YEARS to deliver it, so I bought one of these. I cant bring myself to say I love it (I did love my 2g Volt and my '06 Accord 4-cyl 5-spd), but I like it a lot. Recently I discovered that, due to the new rebate program NOT covering Ioniqs, they are actually available on the lot now! I went and looked at one the other day to see if I might want to upgrade, but honestly even if it was an even swap (it would not be _anything like_ an even swap) I would be reluctant. The Ioniq is HUGE; I have gotten used to being able to get into any space without worrying much about door dings with the Bolt. The Bolt display is nicer, back seat is same size and trunk is larger. I usually love new toys, but not sure the juice is worth the squeeze in this case (especially $30k worth of squeeze).

Thank you for such an eloquent and informative video!!! I have a question for your next one: How does using the regenerative braking feature(s) impact your battery range? You said you drive exclusively in one-pedal, but it sounds like you’re having to charge every night. Do you just drive a LOT each day or does the regen braking not charge the battery much? I’ve driven a friend’s Prius and the battery would typically charge itself fully over maybe a 30 minute ride. Though this is obviously a different system, I was hoping the Bolt would be similar.
@chmd22
@chmd22 2 жыл бұрын
Regen braking can only recover a portion of the car’s kinetic energy. It can’t put back in more (or even the same) energy than what was used to accelerate the car in the first place. It greatly improves overall efficiency, but does not create energy from thin air. Your friend’s Prius was recharged by the gas engine (directly or via regen), which the Bolt obviously lacks.

I didn't notice if you mentioned the range is very contingent on speed as well.. if you are only using city roads..your range will be through the roof. my 2017 ev is holding up pretty well.. hate that there have been zero software updates.. and the Post onstar free subscription sucks. .. wish this were a more popular car for modders. Being able to schedule your preconditioning sessions would be a killer feature. ( the i3 has had this since 2014?) The door chime is overly annoying/loud in my '17.. hate that you can't adjust its volume lower. (think drive in movies.. or camping.) You didn't mention the 50kw dcfc limit sucks rocks compared to every other ev out there with the range it supports. Thanks for the vid.. ^ comments are just to engage people in hopes you get more subscribers

Does anyone who lives in an apartment without the ability to install your own charger have a bolt? What’s relying on public chargers like?

8,500 miles? Boy he saved a lot of gas last year. My Ford Edge would have done that on around 400 gallons.

Why did they recall the batteries? I'm thinking of trading my 19 Honda Insight in for one in Jan. once the rebates are back for federal level

Question - anybody: it is Nov 2022 and 2023 Bolt models are out. With the past battery fire issues with the Bolt, With your Bolt, do you charge the vehicle in your garage? I live in Illinois and we are in our winter months now, so was wondering if it is safe to charge a Bolt EV in my garage without worrying about any battery fires??? I don't know how safe the Bolt EV cars are now and if you have to do certain precautions. Thank you for the video and any information.

Adaptive cruise is only ‘free’ for 3/36, after that you have to pay for it monthly

Nice video! I might be buying a ‘23 Bolt tomorrow. Bottom trim, but I think it does come with adaptive cruise now.

I love my Bolt EUV with Super Cruise…I don’t think I’d get another car without some sort of auto driving assistance.

Have you changed the battery in the remote control? Cheap and easy thing to try. That is how I fix that issue on my SUV when it happens.

It was actually even simpler. I just had to press and hold two of the buttons 😅 it works now

I noticed you have an Apple Watch - are you able to unlock and start your vehicle via the watch ? Also with the app ( chevy volt app ) do you need the key fob with you or is the app on the phone enough ?

With everyone obsessing over DC fast charging I'd like to get an early model without it at a great price. With that range I don't need DC fast, it's more expensive and harder to find.
