It can be very challenging as an inexperienced camper. Just knowing how to pack for a camping trip can be very daunting. Even more so, it can be frustrating not knowing what would be the best place to choose. I would like to say thank you ! Now we can spend more time enjoying our camping trip and less time trying to decide which place is best. It is all due to your knowledgeable experience, Keene insight and not to mention those amazing views that you have captured.

The first time I was there was 1969. There were a few dirt areas to camp and it was stocked by a fly fishing club. The last time I was there was 2005 and I was driving a Ford Ranger with a 4cyl motor carrying a cabover camper with a utility trailer. I got stopped at the cattle crossing and had to take the long way in. It's much farther and steep. Not as bad as the first section you did. It takes you way up on the mountain and drops down to the campground. There was a nice trail towards the end of the lake that would take you to Bowers Lake and beyond with a right turn that would take you to the top of the ridge to the east. The view from there can look both ways north and south following the valley. The fish can be spectacular in there.

This may be the first time I have reached out to the 3 of you because in our case we view you on the TV. SO... we don't reach out to you. But I am taking this time to reach out on my 8 year old tablet to say thank you for sharing you work... Your destinations and sharing such details. Your destination, the camp site information. That road....You guys are brave. We encountered a road that I just could not continue on. We took the Dog out and I made a 7 or 8 point turn around. There was no room for 2 vehicles. The drop off edge was so steep, it ruined me for those kinds of roads now. After we came down, we looked at it from below and from the highway. It is on Copper Creek road past the falls. Hwy 95 North of Bonners Ferry. It forks and the road goes up the side of a big mountain. Its almost Canada like where you were but East a bit.

That road looks like the one into Burro Creek that had at least three places my Promaster spun the wheels, especially coming out. Had to rest the brakes too! Still looks like a Megs place. Just got back to Kansas after 3 1/2 month’s traveling the northeast coast of US and Canada. Fantastic trip! Was going westbound but fell last night possibly tearing my rotator cuff, sprained wrist and contusion to kneecap. May be later than mid November before I’m out of here.

This is a cool looking lake! We are going to have to visit it! Neat that you heard and saw loons! We have loons in Northern Idaho (up north of Bonners Ferry) in Smith Lake and Robinson Lake. So, they are here. They aren't the easiest to film, though. It's almost like they know you are filming and they hide and are quiet. As soon as you put your camera up....out they come. lol. Aspen do grow at lower elevations up here. Here are just a few of the many places to find them in North Idaho at lower places. There is a huge stand at about 3200 feet in elevation going up Deer Ridge Rd (north of Bonners Ferry, and North of Moyie Springs), off of CR 72. There are several neat places to camp by Deer Creek near the Aspen. There are also Aspen in the "valley" area up by Boundary Creek WMA (right up on the Canadian border). You pass several Aspen stands on West Side Road getting there at about 2200 feet in elevation. The Aspen are also along the St Joe River, at Huckleberry Campground (a BLM site). That one is at about 2400 feet in elevation. Anyway, they are one of my favorite trees. I love to watch the wind going through the leaves.
@oneadVANtureatatime
@oneadVANtureatatime 2 жыл бұрын
We had family near Sand Point but wow, you are way up north! I would like to check Smith Lake area out a bit next time through. I love aspen trees as well! The sound the wind makes blowing through the leaves is unmatched. One one my favorite places in Wyoming has aspen trees growing out of white sand on the edge of a crystal clear lake. Loons are the best! If and when we ever settle down I hope it’s loon country. 👍😀

@@oneadVANtureatatime You've got to check it out! Smith Lake is free, so is Brush Lake. Dawson Lake is also free, but you definitely hear the traffic from Meadow Creek Road. There are also places along the Kootenai river to camp for free (one near Kootenai Wildlife Refuge and one near Boundary WMA). The one near Boundary WMA has absolutely gorgeous sunrises. And, there is free camping all along Deer Cr Ridge. Oh, and you can camp for free during the off season at Robinson Lake, Copper Creek, and Meadow Creek Campgrounds (spring and fall....winter would probably be inaccessible).

New sub here, 2nd video watched - beautiful location, marked my atlas for the future :) Oh, yeah, when I lived in Colorado there was a backcountry road rule...downhill traffic gives right of way to uphill traffic (this way uphill traffic does not lose their momentum)...guess this rule doesn't apply to all states

How high can your drone go? I know there are restrictions in national forests ,400 feet, if I remember correctly. You always get some good footage.

What a wonderful video... that place was so nice... I would love to go there some day too...how long do you have to leave for on the blm or park sight ... could you just do back and forth? and I guess I would not need to fish for that price...lol... wow. but boy that road is scary... stay safe and healthy ... Great question! Most blm land we have found is 14 days out of a 28 day period and you have to move out of a 25 mile radius in that time. 👍😀

This is Chopaka Lake… the coordinates are in the video description. So many obstacles on this route that are going to cause you grief with that size rig. We WOULD NOT RECOMMEND IT! We have seen people get big rigs into some pretty impressive places though. Definitely scout it our first without the 5th wheel.

Tent? Someone help me out with info, on how they utilize the tent.
@oneadVANtureatatime
@oneadVANtureatatime 2 жыл бұрын
+Madison we don’t use the tent very often. We have it to save our spot at really popular free campgrounds…. Check out Saturdays video. It’s an old backpacking tent that is falling apart so now it is our dogs tent. He gets his bone treats in the tent when outside as he hates flies and bees! He tends to get stung…. So treat inside tent equals no bee stings. When we decide to go backpacking again we will need a new tent 1) it’s falling apart 2) it smells of a nice juicy bone ….

Hello! ?????? Is your GSPSCN Silver Tire Inflator able to inflate a KO2 85 psi tire of a ram 136wb. The one I bought can’t inflate my tires, ( a different bran). I want to be sure that it can inflate my tires, my van weighs 6000 pounds
@oneadVANtureatatime
@oneadVANtureatatime 2 жыл бұрын
Our rear tires are 80psi on 8600 lb van. I would say 80 pounds is close to max as the last 5 pounds takes 10 minutes to fill.

Carrie got this seat at Walmart. It’s one of those ones that goes on bleachers . I had to cut off the piece that sticks down to hold it in place so it wouldn’t puncture the paddle board. I hope this helps, I don’t see the brand name on the seat itself. 👍
