I saw in the comments, you're now using a Rasberry Pi? can you go into more detail on this, and how to actually power it? I've never messed with wiring before
@OnePixelataTime5 жыл бұрын
Must have missed this comment. I originally ran a wire(this was plugged into an outlet) from a power supply made to power it. However, I later changed that, it now receives power from a 4 pin molex that connects to a usb plugin that connects to a micro usb cable. This at first result in a corrupted OS, happened randomly, due to power being abruptly cut from the RasPi, but it stopped after a while. Why? I don't know, just did.

You should all be aware that monitor power supplies could very much harm you. It is NOT recommended to remove the internals from the power housing if you're brand new to electrical wiring, and instead just run the monitor power cable out the back of your PC.
@OnePixelataTime6 жыл бұрын
Currently all wiring is enclosed in a container, would that still be an issue?
@HTHazard6 жыл бұрын
@@OnePixelataTime that's likely fine and is the recommended way to disassemble it (transplant it to a smaller PSU container). Was just a PSA to young/new people that those circuits are powerful enough to cause harm

Some of the monitors I've taken apart in the past, their back light is composed of one or two lights inside it, how the monitor being lit wasn't the concern, but how the image was being displayed was. One the monitors I disassembled worked fine, but it wasn't the case with all of them. You'll have to figure that out on your own if you don't mind taking the risk.

In my case, trial and error, but you can always try other things like looking up the model number of the part or using a multimeter to measure voltage.
@ka7r6 жыл бұрын
hey could you be a little more specific? do you just clip stuff and see what it doesn't need ? can't you damage it if you clip certain things ?
@OnePixelataTime6 жыл бұрын
It's difficult to which specific cables since it changes by model. I would try a ground wire and one of the red wires(to my understanding, colors represent different voltage, red being 5 and black being a ground, how accurate this is, I'm not sure, but its seemed consistent with what I tested) to see if it would turn the screen on, wires connected to the display board(if that makes sense).
if it just work without pressing the button, it should work if you didn't leave it on after all, because those look like standard push buttons that connect two wires and push... ok less nerd stuff technically the button doesn't do anything until it is pressed, which means that not having it on at all, would not change anything.
@OnePixelataTime6 жыл бұрын
Are you referring to the buttons that the monitor comes with?
@catboy93776 жыл бұрын
@@OnePixelataTime Yeah. Sorry, I wasn't clear enough. The circuit board for the buttons doesn't look like it stores anything, you should try running it without the buttons plugged in. if you want to be sure, you can probe the buttons and see if there is any voltage going through while you are not pressing them, to make sure they are not a switch. but they look like a push button, so just removing it should work. Except if it accidentally turns off, then you need to put them back :P

I haven't tried it, but I doubt it would work very well, LCDs have (at least the ones I have handled) a small border around them that doesn't display anything. It's line getting two pictures with frames around them put next to each other to make a large image, the frame being there takes away part of the immersion.
