Onimusha Theory - Is Ohatsu Actually an Oni?

Another theory that came to mind as I was compiling all of the events for my Timeline video. In truth, I'm surprised it took this long for me to notice the one plot-point that made me look a bit deeper into Ohatsu's heritage. This is, admitedly, based on just circumstantial evidence, but I like to think there's some merit.
I still have one or two more Onimusha projects in the works, with one fairly latge project that I've just finished writing the script for, though not quite as large as my Timeline. Seriously, I'm not sure I'm ever taking on a project that big again!

Fantastic video. This is a really interesting theory, and definitely explains why Oyu had the Faith or in the first place. I also like the idea of Nobunaga potentially having Oni blood, that's a fascinating twist for the Genma lord. Just want to say I'm so happy I found your channel. I've been eager to revisit the Onimusha series after watching the (disappointing) Netflix series, so coming across your channel with so many high quality videos is an absolute treasure. Amazing work, definitely will be working my way through your other videos.

Onimusha has been my favourite game at all time. So many good memories. Tq so much for making content of this long dormant game. Hope the upcoming onimusha anime can tell us more abt the backstory of the oni warriors and genma.

Her father Azai Nagamasa is categorised as an Oni in Onimusha Soul. So that explains everything.

Problem is that Onimusha Soul says a ton of things out of nowhere that either have no build-up or just flatout make no sense, like Yoshimoto Imagawa being an Oni even though he dies offscreen during the opening cutscene of Warlords, or Shingen Takeda being Genma despite being bitter enemies with Nobunaga (yes, I know that Oni 2 mentions the genma trying to recruit him, but historically, he opposed Nobunaga in 1572, 11 years before Oni 2) Basically, Onimusha Soul has so many contradictions and strange continuity points that I don't count anything solely established in that game as canon. Plus, even if I wanted to further look into what that game explores, it was discontinued years ago, so I'm pretty sure it's impossible to access now

I always asked myself why Nobunaga was using magic attacks so similar to Jubei's and in Onimusha 3 his weapon reminded me of Jaques's Enja but I always thought, It's just Capcom reusing asssets like they always do. However, your video has changed my perspective of this...

I always assumed that the genma bugs that were inside her gave her some sort of power to fight against genma.

That was my theory too, initially. Still makes more sense than the explanation that the game actuallu gives us.

Oda Nobunaga was an Oni would make sense as there are also Oni defected to the Genma side like Gargant. Ieyashu Tokugawa would have a reason to destroyed the known Oni bloodline aka Hideyori after seeing the immense power possessed of mix Oni and Genma. Since Hideyashu/Soki was bio son of Ieyashu and being reincarnated of god of darkness, so the Tokugawa must also be Oni to some degree.

It's believed that Soki's Oni blood came from his mother, Lady Oman. Given that she ahe gave him Lamentation before disappearing, I'd say it's likely that she was the only one who knew of Soki's Oni blood until he was older. Either way, since Ieyasu has a known disdain for the Genma, it would be interesting to see him opposing both the Oni and the Genma, making it a bit more difficult to work out which side he is ultimately on

Maybe the Genma learned a lot from the trilogy and returned to the overworld stronger? prone to regular human weapons
