The writing and acting nowhere near as good as it was in the first 5 series, this show just went constantly downhill after 1989 until the final episode in 2003 in which I along with millions of others turned off half way through and went to bed

I agree. Heroes and villains was the only decent episode after that period. I'd like to add, I have a very unpopular opinion that the raquel and cassandra character castings were not up the the same standard as the rest of the cast. Time on our hands was a nice ending to the story but maybe a few years too late and then they milked the series with more Christmas specials after that which were vastly inferior in every way to the episodes you are referring to
