Playthrough Rules:
1. Only my selected pokemon in battle
2. No items in battle
3. No glitches or exploits (the badge boost and marowak skip permitted)
4. No Losing of ANY Kind (No Blackout Training)
5. No Double-Team TM before level 100*
Other Things to Know:
1. Pokeballs (HM Pokemon) are allowed in battle
2. I play the game at 4x game speed (238 frames per second)
3. My Pokemon have perfect DVs
4. Skipping the bike is not allowed
5. Saving between Elite 4 members is allowed
6. If the solo Pokemon faints and I choose to blackout it counts towards my reset counter and I still have to reset
Terms:
1. STAB
--- Same Type Attack Bonus - a 1.5x damage multiplier for using a move that shares it's type with the attacker
2. DVs
--- The Gen1 equivalent of IVs (individual values), these range from 0-15
3. Stat XP
--- The Gen1 equivalent of EVs. But unlike EVs, you can reach the limit with every stat

Short Bio:
My Name is Steve, and welcome to my Channel!
I grew up in the early 2000's playing a lot of generation 1 and 2 Pokemon games on Gameboy Advanced and SP. But I wasn't a big team building guy, or catch them all kind of guy. I liked changing the settings to set battle style, and brute forcing every battle with the Pokemon I had (just like ASH). Now as an adult, I get to do the same thing, but I'm informed about stats, match-ups, and glitches.
So follow along with me, each week as I speedrun Pokemon red and blue with a different Pokemon and fill my pokedex, learn from the experience, and beat it again with a much better performance. Sit back, relax, and watch me struggle/ease my way through Kanto with 1 single Pokemon. Keep an eye out for easter egg and play mistakes along the way, make sure to tell me in the comments about them.

That's great, the one I'm currently working on was voted for by community tab. It's an aerodactyl race video, but it's racing itself. The difference being that one learns rock slide, a move that it should have been able to learn, but can't.

Wow, that was a brutal run, but a very interesting one as well😮. The metronome luck was really random, especially with that bug catcher on the way to rock tunnel and with cool trainer as well. Who'd thought these one were kind of the mini bosses for the end of the early game. These were probably salty losses. 😅 As a kid I hated grinning toggepi in gen 2 because of metronome, so I always taught it headbutt or return or flamethrower, so that I could get a toggetic. 😅

In hindsight it wasn't incredibly difficult. But I made it harder on myself skipping a lot of trainers and training. I don't think I could get a time under 3 hours though, but that's just an inherent difficulty with full(ish) team runs.

Not childhood, but I believe it's the speedchoice romhack has a metronome only option (including enemy trainers), and me and my uni friends spent many a night racing with pure RNG at the wheel

Since I’m 17 this counts to me: a few months ago I was battling Whitney in Crystal and my Togepi called Belly drum before head-but sweeping her entire team in one hit each, that was when I decided Omelette was a permanent team member

Lucky beyond belief. To be honest, if I were to do that challenge again, I would need to make sure to battle everything and make sure all my pokemon are level 60. I probably wouldn't save any time either, the training would take so long.
