I hate coming across reviews where they play at 4k ultra on a 50 series card or card from 7 years ago and call it trash for not spitting out 100+ fps. Like do you know what these cards are intended for?

Yup, I agree and I said that in the video, that it has never been intended for 1440p even at launch. Just showing a variety of settings configurations to give you a general understanding in which games you can go over 1080p low, and in which games it can't even go over 60fps on 1080p low natively

I just bought 3070 for $250. Switching from 1070ti I gotta say the performance boost is significant, it's quieter and runs cooler. My 1070ti ROG STRIX could easily reach 75'C, while I just couldn't make the 3070 MSI X Gaming Trio go past 60'C so far.

I think the biggest cause why it's relegated to low settings is the 6GB of RAM. The RX 580 8GB seems to fair better in non-esports games than the 1660, or at least smoother if not faster. Also, it seems to not sell very well where I'm from. Then again, I have an abundance of RX 6600 8GB from china at just $100.

When i do epic settings on high I get around 70-120 fps on avg with a 1% low of 55

the 1660 was a 1080P card in 2019, benchmarking it at 1440P is unfair. I was running a 1660 Ti (even that card was aimed at 1080P) from release up until last year and it was a good experience there were just some settings to adjust in the newest releases.

It was also tested on 1080p in all games tho, 1440p was just to give a better understanding of its limits. And btw, since you decided to upgrade even the 1660 ti, imagine how the regular 1660 owners should feel nowdays

The RX 580 is a lot weaker than the RX 5600 XT even though the 580 has 2gb extra vram

man i gotta upgrade my 1660 ti to something like a 7800xt bc is lowkey lacking, in games like beamng drive. ( I run a 165hz 1440p monitor and refuse to use 1080p after switching to the good life) my 12400f is alright tho :D (for now)

You mention to tamper your expectation but why start every game at 1440p ultra on 6 year old mid level gpu? Starting at 1080p high would be more appropriate and give desired performance. Are you framing it this way so you can point and call it trash to proove that the performance doesnt outweighs the cost? If so its pretty disenguous.

Just to show the limitations of the card, and then show what settings users should be playing on. I used to test budget cards only on low settings, but then I would get comments asking what fps would people get on high or medium for example. So showing games in a variety of settings is the approach we're taking right now

All the hardware survay proves is that more people use Nvidia. Nvidia does have more under the hood and their 80 series out performs AMDs 80 serise for example. But at least AMD has the common decency to let anyone use their upscalers and frame gen tech to boost performance on any brand of gpu

Just finished the video and saw a lot of AMD recommendations. It's all about price to performance. For example if the make believe Nvidia RTX6060 cost $550 and the AMD RX9070 cost $450 If Both have the same performance, the AMD has a better price to performance. Sure the RTX 6060 will have more raytracing cores, dlss, nvidia frame gen but if someone isn't going to use all that why spend more when they have the same base performance?
