I'm an ex muslim and I can safely tell you I DID NOT leave because Islam was difficult for me to practice, I'm zealous for God and when I was muslim I would been the type to be so obedient to God's word that if Gods word tells me the only real way to please God and garuntee paradise was to become a martyr, fight the non-believers and die in the cause of Allah then that was exactly my plan. But all praises to the most high God 🙌🏾 the first time I actually decided to study in order to understand the quran, I began to come across many problems, which I then went to my uncle- who is learnerd brother. His response was "wow moni, your going on wid some scholarly ting here, I will take you to see a scholar." I got together my questions and took them to this scholar, all the man did was, twist the quranic verses words round to mean something totally different to what the actual meanings were and add his own twisted interpretations. So clearly as you can imagine being so unsatifisfied with every answer this scholar gave me, I left Islam-but this was totally based on study and criticing the quranic texts! Six years on I am now a born again disciple of the God who came in human flesh to die as a perfect holy, living sacrifice upon a cross. Brothers and sisters Jesus is the way the truth and the life! People who question why doesn't God come down to earth- why doesn't he show himself? Well, he does, through miracles, signs and wonders that are happening all through the world even today as I am speaking people are getting visitation from the risen Lord! The true creator of the universe has always shown himself, since the garden Eden where the biblical narrative shows God was walking in the cool of the day alongside Adam, he parted the red sea, he appeared to moses from a burning Bush, in the old testament (the torah) we see God appearing in my many places to the prophets. Please humble yourself and simply "God if your real I want to know you!" cry out to him, and you will only be lead to the true creator of the heavens and the earth yaweh he ask and you shall receive, seek and you shall find, knock at the door and it will be opened. I must warn you though, Christ came displaying the love and the mercy of God, but next time he shall come-he's coming to judge all those who did not repent and turn to him, accept Jesus and live for him shall damned to eternal fire where "there shall be weeping and mashing of teeth"! You are right. I know three people whose husband/wife converted to Islam to please their Muslim in-laws. I also know over twenty Muslims young and old who have left Islam in principle but are not talking about it openly for the fear of the Muslim community. In Turkey, Tunisia, Algeria and perhaps Syria it is safe to be an atheist. In the other countries there is a relentless repression of apostasy. In Saudi Arabia if one declares that one is an atheist, the punishment is death. Pew research estimate that 10% of the populace are closet atheists. Mostly that is young and female. It is the same with all high control, cult-like religions. The leaders have to keep their adherents poor, isolated, uneducated and fearful to maintain the belief system. The problem is that Muslim communities/Muslim majority countries are going to be left behind economically if they don't have an educated population that is able to interact with the rest of the world. The leaders will have no choice. Also, with access to the internet, their people are starting to see the differences in standard of living and are demanding their share. I believe the reason young educated muslims are leaving islam is because they were taught never to use the voice of REASON when studying Islam and when they went to university they use their reason to say Islam is false about the things they were taught which are actually false in islam e.g the return of Jesus, dajjal, mahdi, moon splitting, magic, jinn possession, Adam and eve story which contradict the scientific proof of evolution, jesus speaking as a new born baby ect When you do come to Birmingham I would love meet you and have a civilised and academic discussion. Well I am indian and a hindu and I know God exists . The stories in Islam are not false btw can't say about moon splitting but I know for a devotee of God such as him nothing's impossible as in one of our holy texts it's written that God can bend every rule and law of this universe for true devotees . So it can be truth also . Only thing muslim communities needs is to shun the tribal laws of those times because I think many things have been added to the Quran after death of prophet Mohammad to control people as Quran was written later and they never even allowed prophet to write his own will and they even hunted prophets family and killed them . So whose to say that his words weren't changed and used by people after him to rage wars and justify them in name of Islam . The same thing that organisations like ISIS are doing . Same with Bible where they say Jesus is God to control the people for political benefits by the church by Romans . He was always praying to God . Something same happened with hinduism . Problem is Islam never changed and Muslims are continuously exploited by others in name of Islam . This is what I see . Just sharing my opinion .

An Imam in Lagos, Nigeria (Though have no little educational background i.e doesn't go to school) who teach Quranic Studies, well vast in Arabic language, converted to Christian last few weeks ago. Having considering all Quran teaches and what Hadith said about Mohammad very ridiculous and disgusting left Islam. Secular say it's "brainwashing, to control the mass.." if that's the case then I choose Christ as my guide 100%. Honestly I've heard or read all the reputations online that didn't phase me at all.
