In the "Hoarders" A & E show there was one woman who hoarded dolls. Lots of people do but that show the lady was from Michigan. They had a team of experts come out and value all her dolls. Shockingly the total amount was about $500,000. But this is NOT a great example for hoarders.

@jamesfournier34583 жыл бұрын
I doubt very much she got that kind of money. Appraisals are always high, but getting that much is another story. And even if she sold it all, she probably went right back to buying dolls again.
@marthahanley66503 жыл бұрын
@@jamesfournier3458 It was value. What it may sell for in antique stores or another doll collector. I'd take them all to a legit auction house let them auction them off. They are not something to sell on E bay. LOL But she will just buy more and end up with more dolls than she already had.
@jamesfournier34583 жыл бұрын
Yes, values go up and down on dolls. Certain collectors will pay higher for something if they really want it, but it doesn't really mean it's worth it. That woman was obsessed.@@marthahanley6650

No foot treadle Singer sewing machine? My mother was born in 1925 and hers came from her mother. How they EVER got this moved into our first house I've no idea. It was iron and I could barely push that treadle at all. As for the cords what's valuable is the copper in them. The largest the cords the better as it is easier and not have as much to strip. An old toaster? Cord for sale, cord for sale. :)
@B_Bodziak4 жыл бұрын
I would've never thought about the value of old plug-in electrical cords (copper). Although, it seems like more work and possibly damage to strip them properly and sell them all.

They had wire cutters, cut them before she could blink and left. But it was the damn clutter item she wanted taken. :P As far as cars stealing the catalytic convertiters is done often. @@marthahanley6650 Wow. Do you think the catalytic converters are popular because they don't make them anymore?
@marthahanley66504 жыл бұрын
@@B_Bodziak It's been known FOR YEARS that stealing catalytic converters is HIGHLY profitable for their precious metals. And many people would have NO IDEA theirs has been stolen until you hear your motor. I just googled it. It says the problem with Prius is that is it STUPID made in making them TOO EASY to steal that valuable required part. Prices gotten in scrap yards go from $50 to $150. Thieves are stealing catalytic converters out of cars for their precious metals. That's because Priuses also have easily accessible catalytic converters. LAPD Lieutenant Tim Torsney told the Times that some crews in the LA area are capable of removing the converters in less than a minute.

This is great that these people appreciate things! The sentiment and appreciate of beauty of items should be regarded as positive. Shario D.N. I am not sure these people are hoarding, at least there are different levels of hoarding. This guy was willing and happy and actually planning on selling his items, for profit, he was collecting and happy to sell. Hoarders are not willing and also cannot walk in their home with unsanitary conditions, which was not the case with this gentleman.

@@tracefryer2594 Hoarding = accumulation. A supply or accumulation that is hidden, or carefully guarded for preservation, future use, etc... It doesn't always have to be monstorous, or "unsanitary." My mum is a level 1 hoarder. Also, every hoarder always claims they're "collectors!"

Trace, as a mental health therapist, I have to let you know you are not correct in your ideas of what does and does not constitute hoarding. If you have so many items that it prevents you from using the rooms in your house for their intended purpose, then by diagnostic standards you having Hoarding Disorder. You don’t have to be distressed at the volume of stuff in order to be diagnosed because we know that hoarders quite typically have very poor insight into the severity of the hoarding situation.

Many people find their purpose in things... material items. It's not how it should be. God created us to find love and purpose in Him. God's love will never rust or get old. His love is everlasting. Do you know of God's love for you? YOU ARE LOVED: God loves you and desires for you to spend eternity with Him, however, SIN has seperated you from God and from entering Heaven (If you have ever lied, you have sinned, making you a sinner). That is why God sent His Son Jesus Christ to save you, to rescue you from the punishment of sin, eternal Hell. You can not get to Heaven on your own accord... Your good deeds, being a good person, your church, your money... Can not save you... Only Jesus Christ can save you!!! WHAT TO DO... Go to Jesus Christ with a humble heart. Repent and put your trust in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, yielding your life to Jesus. AN EXAMPLE PRAYER: Jesus Christ, I come to you a sinner, I repent of all my sins and ask for your forgiveness. I believe you are the Son of God, that you went to the cross, died in my place, paying my sin debt and that you were buried & rose on the 3rd day to everlasting life. Jesus, right now, I choose to receive you as my Lord and my Savior, trusting in you alone for my salvation. I surrender my life to you and ask for your will to be done. I invite your Holy Spirit to come into my heart to make me more like you. Thank you for your forgiveness. Thank you for filling me with the Holy Spirit and for your gift of eternal life in Heaven. Amen! NOW WHAT: Being a Christian is all about relationship. You grow in your relationship with God as you spend time with Him, in your Bible, in prayer, in time of worship and praise. I suggest reading the gospel of John first, and then read the books that apostle Paul wrote, Romans through Philemon.
