Thank you so much for the lesson Hitoki-kun, now I know what word to use for my previous ドロドロ relationship! I had a lover when I was in university that cheated on me. When we broke up it was so stressful because I was studying dentistry (you should be able to understand health major is hard hahaha) and it was nearing my thesis defense. Fast forward in a few months after that, there was a high school reunion and there I found out that my ex cheated with my senpai's ex😂😂 I bonded with my senpai that night and after a while we ended up liking each other, and then we started dating. What's weird was during our exes' relationship, my ex still texted me when they needed advice with their own relationship. The happy (??) ending is that they broke up after a few months, and I'm in a happier relationship with that senpai until now (it's already 3 years). めっちゃドロドロですねｗｗ

Oh god, my life is ドロドロ itself. I think I have a good dorodoro story. It involves me (male) and 3 friends (2 male, 1 female). We'll just say A-chan, B-kun and C-kun. In middle school, we all went to different schools (in the same area) but were still friends. I really liked A-chan, but didn't have any confidence in myself so did nothing. Then, I discover that A-chan was dating B-kun, who I already felt inferior to, and this made me so bitter that I stopped talking to both of them and only hung out with C-kun (none of them understood why though, I didn't say anything). Well, we all end up going to the same high school together. A-chan is excited to finally be at school with me (C-kun and I went to the same school, A-chan and B-kun went to different schools), but I distance myself from her and she's saddened. A year or so later, I find out that C-kun is now dating A-chan, so I was forced to hang out with them both. Then after a while, dramatically, A-chan and C-kun break up and A-chan tries to get friendly with just me... but I was already interested in someone else. Youth is crazy.

Wow, no homo but you look damn good in your school uniform! My dorodoro story is very short: I was taking a shower, and when I was puring some shampoo on my head the top came off and the entire bottle (500ml) poured over me. It wasn't gross but I felt extremely dorodoro.

My lovelife in highschool was dorodoro 🤧 I had a boy I liked, A-kun, who I knew since primary school. In highschool A-kun and I bickered as we did in the past but I caught feelings and things became awkward. A-kun had like 3 other girls who liked him. It took a couple of years but A-kun and I confessed our feelings for each other, which I told my other friends. My friend B-chan was one of the girls who liked A-kun, but she told me before that she didn't anymore, but then she cried when I told them A-kun confessed to me. We talked about it and made up tho. A-kun and I started going out, but we broke things off because of reasons. During our last year of highschool I became close with A-kun's friends, C- kun and D-kun. I was closer with D-kun than C-kun since we often talk about his own dorodoro story. I went back together with A-kun for a while, then broke it off again because of the same reasons. Then after some time I catch feelings for D-kun, I was still close with C-kun and him even tho I broke things off with A-kun. I confessed to D-kun, but got rejected. He told me that he had feelings for me before but backed off because I was with A-kun at the time. Then C-kun confessed to me, he knew I was going to confess (he didn't know to who) and he wanted to give it a shot. But I rejected him. The ending of it all is that I ended with none of them three but still quite close friends with C-kun and D-kun ✨

Urgh! I really felt it when you described "Doro Doro" - something you want to get away from because it's so unpleasant. Once in school I had a best friend (female) and in that time I was shy and didn't know how to tell a guy that I like him. So my best friend helped me and he (the guy I liked) told me he likes me too. Then I was on a school exchange in Canada and when I came back I learned that my best friend (not anymore!) flirted with him all the time and that they became a couple during my absence (only 3 weeks! *eye-rolling*). The most doro doro was that we (my best friend and me) were in the same class at school as well. But their relationship didn't last long (karma muhaha!). The End!

@@syclice591 Yes 😂 as I speak Bengali and the word in question is written as "দড়ি দড়ি" in my language. As dori in bengali also means rope (with the same intonation as that in Japanese, that is), it can literally and in use be translated as "rope rope" 😂

Thank you for this really interesting video! My dorodoro situation happened with my ex who became so controlling and over-possessive. Later I visited their family and it was dorodoro and kimochi warui to the highest, with a lot of spite and back-biting from the other relatives. I endured for a year before breaking up. I felt that my brain was melting, just like that ice-cream you described. And when guy friends propose, I guess it's another dorodoro situation. Here, we have the culture of calling any person older or younger to us (any gender) as brother or sister, in both native languages. So when we make male friends older to us, we call them 'ayya'/'ayye', meaning older brother, just like onii-san/onii-chan in Nihongo. So naturally we begin to see that person in that light, as a brother. So if they suddenly propose after sometime of friendship, it becomes very dorodoro. So hard to deal with! I actually do had dorodoro story but it's more complicated and things like friendship relationship. It started like this, I'm actually a female and I had 2 female friends and 2 male friends. Let's just call them by their letter, Y-chan, C-chan, J-kun and F-kun. It started at 2019... After Y-chan introduce me to her friends group, it was fun life until one of my other friend move to a new school along her sister. We were sad that time so we live with it. And I actually get along with F-kun cause we talk a lot of times especially J-kun. We get into fights frequently and we bully each other names. I didn't get along with him that much but with F-kun, he's more understanding than him. And time flies when it was 2020. J-kun and me stopped fighting and he actually likes it (I don't cause bullying names seems fine for me and I was the saltiest in the friends group since I always say I don't care phrase) I still don't like him that much but with F-kun, I feel my feelings slowly falling in love with him since I always seat next to him, closer. But things are interesting cause I see Y-chan and C-chan are always separated because of me and they always badmouth behind their backs while my inside started to laugh since they never felt the extreme dorodoro like me. I was a loner wolf back in my childhood and I had no closest friends at all especially my cousins. (From south Asia don't worry too much) Well why I said extreme dorodoro? I had mommy issues and family issues. And then when things are getting complicated, most of us went in separate ways. C-chan feels insecure about herself and talks that we're getting in her way. Y-chan said she don't want more friends than us but she lied. F-kun is still F-kun. He always on gaming Roblox. J-kun? He's getting more stupid and dumb. He thinks he's good at taking care others but he said my mom is doing for my own good if I don't sleep enough. That was a lie. I have resentment of my own mother not a real parent. She always compare me that I'm like my own older sister who always angry 9/23. But I'm nothing like my sister. My siblings gang up with my mom that my dad is spoiling me too much and here I am, I hate my whole entire family. And thanks to these bunch of idiots, they're the ones changing my relationship with everyone I loved, how infuriating. Y-chan is officially leaving me hanging with other friends and you know how jealous I was. She said she only needs me and the others and now online friends? I had online friends when I was eleven and you're just started having one very recently. Just how much toxic are you? I put you so much loyalty to you and yet this? This is why I'm sticking with anime and 2-dimensional games characters in Obey Me. Thanks to you all, now I am officially extremely dorodoro. You sure do love to hurt my feelings as an overprotective friend. We're over. Don't ever crying for me. My second wish for you is my punishment. There would be no second chances to be besties. Go cry on about it to your online friends. I just want to have an healthy friendship not this. I bet you're like I want the old days stay the same but sorry not sorry. Can't you be responsible for ones? I had been holding my guilt so much over ten years been abuse at home. Stop putting me more pressure even others. I think I have a dorodoro memory too. my friend (let's call her h) liked a guy (let's call him a) and I liked a's close friend (let's call him b). One day "A" texted me and said that a friend of his likes me. I really thought that b liked me, even though I asked a who he was, he didn't tell me. I told this to h and she was very happy for me. In the last week of school, A came to me and said that he loved me, his friend in the message that the person he said was himself. I felt very bad both because b didn't love me and because the person my friend loved confessed to me.

My dorodoro happens in elementary school. I had a crush on this boy, he and i were seatmates. I happen to like him at 3rd grade but because we separated class, we never talk much. But at 6th grade, we become seatmates again which was pretty much making me feel weird. I realized i have a crush on him (again). I never plan to confess since i, myself is pretty shy back then. One day, there's a girl from other class (call her N). So N was friends with someone in my class and i remember walking to my class in the middle of lunch break, there's only her and her friends. From out the door, i can hear her scream something that caught my attention. I realized that she was screaming something involved with the boy i like, i couldn't really tell what she was saying but i'm sure she said that she liked him. I walk into the class and she and her friends were surprised lol. I ask her if she likes the boy and she immediately denied it ans looking kinda uneasy? But in the end of the day, even after graduate, me and the boy separated school. He got into another school from another city. And i got to the same school with N. (So, my best friend now was actually one of N's best friend back then and she told me that N confesses and got turned down cause the boy said that N wasn't his type. I don't like him anymore but i find it funny because after being rejected, N cried. Though it's just a memory from the past haha)

For someone like me who hasn't date with anyone for once, I don't understand the dorodoro feeling when talking to my friends despite the fact that most of them are boys and I'm the only girl among the boys (I'm a bit of a tomboy like my mother). Despite being the non-romantic person, I always got myself involved by the romantic moment from my friend. Instead of me getting the dorodoro feeling, my friend from other class has dorodoro feeling with a boy from my class, I don't like this boy to be honest but she just liked him so much that she wanted me to give her his contact of either social media or phone number if I had one. I gave her what she wants and she tried to chat with the boy immediately which surprised the boy a lot (It's actually funny to me because this boy never had anyone other than the friends in his own social circle chat with him). Strangely enough, despite the fact that she likes him...her expression doesn't give the impression of dorodoro but more like excited. Well, at least she could have one more friend and as her first boyfriend now because....since the day her only best friend died, no one has ever be her best friend who will always walk by her side anywhere when they met her until the day she met me. I don't know why but I also feel sorry for her not because of anything but because I also don't have a friend who will walk by my side at school (I do have a few but they are older and from higher grade of high school (I'm 11th grade, she's 10th grade, my older friends are brothers from 12th grade but they never accompany me at school unless I visited them in their class first so.... she's the only one accompanying for the first time because I always walk alone). Since then, I'm the only best friend she had replacing her best friend who died and always walk by her side at school anytime and anywhere in school 😥. Dorodoro moment from my friend with the boy of my class but also sad feeling from me because she doesn't have any friend to accompany her

I guess my case isn't that complicated.. So when i still freshmen at highschool I've crush with a-chan, and my friend i close also have crush with b-chan, note that i never tell my crush.. Half of year but there is no development because I'm not sure if i truly like her or not so i became passive, while my friend rejected by b-chan and approaching a-chan, month later they're dating.. I kinda shock but not mad, and another month later i date a girl from different school..

Oh yes. So, in elementary school I had a crush on this kid. Let's call him C-kun for the sake of it Well, C-kun and I and his friends hung out a lot at recess and played tag, and that's when I developed a crush or at least what I thought was a crush in the 5th grade. So then I spent 6th in one middleschool, but hated it there so I transferred to different school in that district where C-kun happened to go. About a week into school, we met at the stairs and immediately walked past each other. (I should mention that C-kun made it pretty obvious in elementary school, 5th grade, that he also had a crush on me) Eventually we started hanging out in the halls before school but by the time 8th grade began, I no longer really had a crush on him and figured he didn't have a crush on me anymore either. Well, in comes A-chan, who I really wanted to be friends with. It was common for me at the time to call any girl I had an intense desire to be friends with my "girl-crush," especially since I swing both ways. So I was sitting with C-kun and I said, "Oh look it's my girl-crush" He said nothing But the next day, on my way to class as the whole class watched, his friend B-Kun pinned me against the wall by my neck claiming I'd "broken his friends heart" and that I would pay for it. Then left. And that was quite ドロドロ for me, but it gets worse so just like usual, C-kun shows up in my hall before class the next day. And is like "...did you see B-Kun?" "...yes... He pinned me to the wall. That was unnecessary... you sent him, didn't you?" "..." and we mostly sat in silence. Again, very ドロドロ and at that point I just wanted to avoid him for a few days but never got that freedom because he would always show up. So, flash forward a few months later, he starts crazy insulting my "girl-crush" obviously being jealous or something even though I'd told him it was a joke, and ended up saying some homophobic shit that I didn't agree with. So we got in a fight and for around two weeks, we didn't talk. Instead, I talked with my other friend who was in my hall before class and it was p good. So when he tried to contact me again, I told him we shouldn't talk anymore because I felt better when he wasn't around. ... And then all the sudden I come to school and there are stickers all over the walls. Just random like, "you can do it!" "good job!" and smiley face stickers. Just everywhere in my hall. I sit down where I usually sit in the hall... there happens to be a sticker right there. In comes C-Kun, in front of my other friend. He walks over and pulls the sticker off the wall "wow, crazy these are everywhere, right?" Obviously I already knew he was the one who put them there (for the record, this kid is very awkward much like myself and does a lot of strange things to open conversations so this was not at all unusual for him) He handed the sticker to me and I crumpled it up and tossed it at his face and decided to run. And for the next week, he tried to find me in the halls although we shared no classes... And me and my friend were constantly watching the halls and taking shortcuts... Then, I'm absent for the first few days of the second semester due to can't remember what, which is when our elective classes get switched. I have two other friends in the theatre class I had that semester. One of them avoided the subject of it all together so I thought it was strange and spoke to the other. Well, as it turns out, C-Kun was in that class. And during the class orientation where everyone gets to know each other, he'd spread the story of his "crazy ex" all over the classroom. So I walk in three days into the semester, and everyone just stares at me... Then to make matters worse, about a week later, both me and C-kun are called up to do an improv scene together. I have a doro-doro story. I was in primary school, there was a guy I liked from since grade one, and it was until grade 3 I believe, I found out my bff, also had a crush on him, and went as far as to writing a love letter to him. I was kinda jealous, but she was my friend, so how can I be jealous? Anywho, I heard he rejected it, but it wasn't nice seeing her sad. Anywho again, most of boys, I liked, ended having a crush on her, and finally one had a crush on me. But I moved schools. The end.

Thank you very much for explaining this word and this feeling. In fact, I think this feeling exists in many cultures, but there may not be a word to describe it. "Doro Doro" is absolutely perfect to describe, because it evokes a physical sensation, a certain disgust ... I think I am very sensitive to that, but I had difficulty explaining to people why I felt uncomfortable with certain situations. Now I know, I can say "it's like Japanese Doro Doro". For example, in my work now I am managing rentals, and there is an extremely "doro doro" situation. The person who lived in the apartment is not there and I have to send a document to that person by letter, but that person does not tell me the address of the place where he is. Also, this person always says "deal with my family member" but the family member calls at night and I don't answer, and then complains that I don't answer the phone. But at the same time, this family member does not respond to emails. I feel "doro doro" because I don't want to talk on the phone to a stranger (phone conversations are not recorded, I don't know what's going to happen!) And all of this is making everyone involved very upset. There is definitely no continuous "liquid" flow in relationships, things don't flow, no one understands, it's like a sewer clogged with negativity. Anyway, this helped me to understand. Thanks

I would call the literal meaning of doro -doro “sludgey or “goopy” and the emotional use of the word as “cringe-worthy” which in current times is shortened to “cringey” and even more recently just “cringe”.
