Hilarious bit about Arthur Conan Doyle; he said that if the work he was remembered for was Sherlock Holmes, he will have considered his life a failure. Also, he legit believed in ghosts and magic, to the extent that when his friend, Harry Houdini, explained to him how some magic tricks were performed, Doyle thought Houdini was a wizard that didn't know he was a wizard

Do you know about ACD and the fairy photos? Some people just want to believe, whatever the evidence says
@brianmurphy2502 ай бұрын
@@theroachden6195 Remember the movie Misery? ACD left like the author in that book/movie. Trapped by a character he finds boring. ACD broke into writing Sherlock short stories/novellas for a magazine. They got super popular and he wrote them for years, but eventually he wanted to write about other things. The stories got collected into books and sold well. Problem was that his other books didn’t sell well. Writing Holmes became boring for him and he began to resent it. He tried to quit, but the editors gave him bigger money and having a big family and a dying wife, he felt trapped. This was in the 1880s and writers didn’t get massive paydays like Stephen King. He finally killed off Sherlock by falling off a cliff. And they offered him so much money he eventually brought him back. Sorry for the long response. There was a big backlash with even the royal family getting upset. He stuck by his guns and did other books. They had mid to low sales. Finally after 10 years
@brianmurphy2502 ай бұрын
ACD did get flaky in his old age, no doubt. But the guy was a war medic, became a doctor, and wrote lots of different genres fiction. He became one of the first to develop the crime genre and his Holmes stores envisioned a detective who used science and forensics to solve crimes rather than by fists or chance coincidences ( which was how most crime stories of the time relied on) He wrote The Lost World in the early 1900s which is the granddaddy of Jurassic Park. He also wrote historical and war dramas, science fiction, horror. He got involved in real life cases when wrongly convicted people reached out to him and got 2 men acquitted ( George Edalji most famous) through his use of modern detection. A lot of his horror short stories still hold up well. He was a pretty interesting guy, and yes I think that both him and Houdini both got way too invested into the contacting dead , but they had both lost a lot of loved ones. And it’s very hard for me to reconcile that the guy who helped envision and pioneer forensics could get fooled by two little girls making paper fairies. SMH. Sorry for the long text.

Police can deal with this stuff without much trouble. They've become accustomed to the negative effects of social media. In fact, social media is a massive asset to investigation. The real problem is when the police themselves believe psychics can genuinely assist in solving crimes. Not that long ago, it was pretty standard for police to use psychics as part of their investigation. But as bad as this Ashley woman's behaviour was, I don't think it had much impact on the investigation. The focus was always on the security video, finding the white sedan, tracking the location of phones and when they were turned off and DNA. Tarot will litterally only show you want to see. That’s the strength of it. The cards are just prompting your brain. Great tool for self reflection and to some extent decision making, but not detective work.
@Tom-lc9ni2 ай бұрын
Y'all realise they are playing cards yeah? The games called Tarocchini or Grosstarock or Königrufen. Games popular in the 15th century throughout Europe. And the cartomancy part didn't kick off until the 16 century when French occultists claimed that tarot cards had esoteric links to ancient Egypt, Kabbalah, the Indic Tantra, or ancient China. The nouveau deck wasn't printed till 1900. It's a modern novelty like an ouji board to tickle westerners fetishism for eastern mysticism. May as well shake a magic 8 ball.
@TheElf_Online2 ай бұрын
@@Tom-lc9ni Yes they have origins in playing cards but that doesn’t mean anything. The way it works is each card has a basic situation, archetype, or figure that EVERYONE can relate to their life. We’ve all had a ‘tower card’ moment where it seems like everything is crashing down, the cards themselves *literally don’t matter*. The cards and meanings are only there to prompt your brain to make conscious and unconscious connections that it might not have otherwise. The cards themselves aren’t magic, it’s literally all in your head, just the power of human pattern recognition. That’s why it can seem like it can predict the future but most people know it can’t. Your brain picks up on patterns of behavior from other people even if you aren’t consciously aware of it, and based on that pattern it can make a guess at what might happen next, and sometimes that guess is right.

🌟spiritual psychosis🌟 This being said by a pagan witch, spiritual psychosis is a massive thing to be incredibly aware of no matter what religion you practice. My father was a Christian who still does have severe spiritual psychosis, and I've struggled with spiritual psychosis at times as well. always re-evaluate your spiritual beliefs to make sure you're not going off the deep end. Also, DIVINATION IS ALL ABOUT INTERPRETATION!!! Very easy to misinterpret tarot cards and other things. Take interpretations with a grain of salt. Please. And don't already have preconceptions about what answers you'll get, or your mind will only seek to please you. Be safe when practicing spirituality and stay rooted in the physical world!

This is horrifying. Did this crazy person have an audience? Why did people even entertain this? TikTok creators scare tf out of me.
@gothcsm2 ай бұрын
Unfortunately, a lot of people who entertain predatory practices like this are extremely desperate and have tried almost everything to fix their situations. Once they see spiritual things like this, they start believing it, and it turns into a placebo effect kind of thing. Struggling people tend to turn to spiritual practices (without knowing anything about them) and instantly begin to believe everything the “spiritual” person says because of their desperation to any solution that could potentially help with their issues. I’m saying all of this as a spiritual person myself who has done months of research into my chosen religion. I take every single practice extremely seriously and only use them for MYSELF. I am NOT interested in manipulating and preying on vulnerable people.
