If Platoon and Mauler debated it would be the polar opposite of the presidential debates of late. Informative and nuanced. They could just take the opposite sides of an argument, whether or not they believed it.

I reckon they could find something to debate for fun. MauLer seems to place more importance on character writing, character set ups and payoffs, and character consistency than anything else, whereas Platoon (while still very much a character cheerleader) goes into much more academic detail on the craft of writing, plotting, writing influences, thematic content etc and I'm sure there's something out there with great characters but muddled plotting or thematic focus, or, something with great graft in its conception, competently made, and thematically rich which also goes off the rails with it's characters. Depending on your point of view, Midnight Mass could fit both those moulds.

@25:00 it wasnt the Emperor that cloned Luke, it was mad Jedi clone Joruus C'Baoth. And the clone wasn't sentient, it was literally just a meat puppet controlled by C'Baoth, which is established earlier in the Thrawn trilogy that C'Baoth can do mind control, but it leaves the victim essentially braindead afterward. And yes it was from Lukes hand he lost in the duel with Vader on Bespin, the Empire managed to recover it and his lightsaber. Edit to add: Oh and it should be noted that all three books have clones & cloning as a big plot point, from C'Baoth being a clone, Thrawn using the clones, and how this particular type of cloning has intrinsic problems that are a big factor holding the bad guys plans together.

Tartakovsky's Clone Wars is a must watch. Some of the voice acting (looking at you Anakin) isn't the best, but it's pretty much just 2 hours of Band of Brothers inspired action and mini war stories from across the galaxy. Some top-tier fan service in terms of getting to see clones and jedi going all out. Grievous is absolutely LEGENDARY in it too, his intro goes unreasonably hard. Visions does have a couple of really good episodes for a non-canon series just having fun with the IP. A traditional ronin tale, a jedi and master hunting down an ancient Sith, and a pair of adoptive sisters split apart by the Empire and forced to clash. Haven't seen S2, but at least those three stood out in my mind.

It's unbelievable how some authors seem not to understand that sympathizing with a villain in a movie doesn't mean you would do the same in real life. You can connect with Tony Soprano cause he's funny and somehow honorable. In a world (the mob) where everybody is horrible, he's more likable than most. It doesn't mean that you would like a real mobster. If you would, your mental issues do not come from watching a movie... 😂

It was the classic case of telling the author the studio was going to make a sequel to the movie based on his best selling novel. He had a choice to crank out a sequel novel to base it on or the studio would do the film on its own. That doesn’t tend to yield an equal quality result. Look toward Hannibal as a similar example.

It's not true that WB can't make a Batman tv show because Fox and post-acquisition, Disney own the rights. This would be evident given the dozen or so animated Batman and Justice League centric television shows WB has produced over the course of the last 32 years, along with the sludge pile of live action shows which mention, feature, or involve cameo appearances of some version of Batman (Gotham, Titans, Arrowverse, Penguin.) WB simply see Batman as a premiere blockbuster movie machine and avoids making a Batman centric (as in he's the Main Character) show in live-action for the same reason Disney doesn't make a live-action, alternate casted tv version of Wolverine. They don't want to. It's one of the reasons why Bruce Wayne never appeared on Smallville, despite an effort to do so on the show's part because, at the time, WB Films was flying with the Nolan universe and were hyper protective of the character.

You say that a 60 year old joker wouldn't work. Cesar Romero who played Joker in the Batman TV series was actually 59-61 years old. I think it could work. In fact, that could be a nice change from the 30ish Ledger/Leto Jokers and the 50ish Nicholson/Hamill/Phoenix Jokers. Approaching the joker from an old man perspective would be new and interesting. It would be "joker humor", but coming from a different place in life. There is a difference between the nihilism, purpose, or meaning between how: 1. a young man feels looking forward into his life 2. a middle-aged man feels in the prime of his life looking forward and back 3. an old man feels at the end of his life looking back. And honestly, I think it is harder to write a young joker that competes with Ledger, than an old joker in a class of his own.

I used to care about ASOIAF but honestly I'm just going to enjoy the shows if they are well done but I'm kind of done with it from a literature point of view. I've waited so long that my enjoyment of the universe has completely turned to apathy. Same with Kingkiller and Gentleman Bastards. I can't care anymore because I know they will never be finished. Those 3 douches have made the writing world exponentially harder because now many readers are too gun shy to pick up a series if it isn't already finished for fear of getting invested in a series that will never have an ending.

That Joker (not the character joker) was not about good or bad, it was about people breaking a person until he does not give a fuck and people who break other people rarely know they are doing it. Cause they think violence is a sickness or just wrong*, not anyone's fault, but there is a reason to everything and yes it was. So when your boss or anyone in your life just kicks you when you are down... this character, makes you understand that dynamic. So you don't treat people like dirt. which you do, if you think violence is something peasants do, cause you are a bit better and when you are a bit better... you judge and push people to break. *No amount of "you are wrong",prison rape movies, cameras, rules or cops is going to help you, when someone breaks. Cause non of it matters, when you don't matter to anyone and people who do not see it as their fault, will never need to think about their part in it. That is the feeling you have inside when you understand it and that's why you drive trough people in GTA and enjoy violence in entertainment. It's vindication, but in a safe format, only it's not a safe idea for people who think you are trash and treat you like trash.

How am I doing? Well, it sounded like Drinker actually wanted to know how we're all doing, and he wasn't just being polite, so I'll indulge him. And since he apparently can't get the deep philosophical conversations he craves with his stripper friends (or so he says) I'll give it to him on levels. And from the sounds of it, he get his other needs met plenty by his stripper friends, so he can get his philosophical needs met from rando commenters on the Internet. So in that spirit, physically, I'm fine. I've got three cords of firewood sitting uncovered in my driveway right now and I'm kind of looking forward to moving it on to the porch and stacking it neatly, out of the rain and snow. Makes me feel good to take care of basic needs like heat. Simple, straight forward jobs where you know exactly what needs to be done and how to do it, are very nice. When you feel you're getting pushed to the edge of reason (by all kinds of stuff), just doing basic physical work pulls you back into reality. And you sleep well after doing it. And right now I'm burning wood I cut myself from trees the loggers knocked down then left sitting in the mud (I hate waste). I went out in the Spring with my little bow saw and cut and hauled wood in and it feels great to get Woody, my soapstone woodstove, all fired up and my house all cozy. Emotionally I get a little melancholy every year when dark winter looms on the horizon. But I have an intuition that it's gonna be pretty mild and the loggers are supposed to be coming back and bringing more sunlight - so I've got that to look forward to. More sunlight is always welcome. Philosophically, inner peace is always my goal, and I'm not letting anything get in the way of that. I've worked too hard to achieve the peace I have now, so I'm pretty zen. I get ruffled and then I get my feathers smoothed again. That's life. And as far as I'm concerned everyone should have inner peace as their first priority. Or in other words, stop dumping your crap on other people. You know who you are, woke idiots. And you have no right to go crap dumping on behalf of other people, as well. Keep your sanctimonious hands off of other people's crap. MYOB, as they used to say. We empaths have our hands full all ready, and no one else needs any extra garbage on their plates either. And you don't actually have to worry about war and mayhem in other parts of the world either. Vote for peace, stand for peace, speak for peace, and leave it at that. Seek inner peace and as they say 'as below, so above' and visa versa. I had a week not too long ago where everywhere I went people were telling me about their 'trauma'. My neighbor's lesbian partner's mother showed up at my door (WTF?). I've never met the partner and I've only talked to the neighbor once. Anyway, the mother was from RI and I invited her in to hear the news from my home state. And in the hour she was here she mentioned her past trauma three times. Well, I'll just leave that all packed up where it is, thank you very much. And then, I was just talking to this woman at the cheese display at a local store about Parmesan and before I know it she's telling me about her life's trauma. I just wanted to talk about cheese. I get up to the checkout and the clerk blurts out that her doctors want her to have surgery. Jesus, I need to start charging for my counseling services. On the plus side, it does provide perspective. Nothing I've experienced in life would I classify as trauma. So I feel very lucky (not privileged, just plain lucky - I know plenty of white, economically well off people who suffered trauma at the hands of their supposed caregivers). But I also believe in the law of attraction. Which means if you have suffered trauma, you need to deal with it or you will just compound the problem by attracting more. I saw this work out in camp as one of the two drivers who served the whole, large camp system. I went into the job doing daily meditation and committed to simply dealing with whatever got tossed my way. The other driver (mid-twenties) had a wonky energy she brought with her from unhealed past stuff. Anyway, I drove kids to the airport and picked them up dozens of times and I never had a problem. Not even a delay. The other driver just had the worst luck - shit was always happening to her - crazy, weird circumstances. Anyway, you live long enough you notice patterns of attraction. Crazy energy attracts crazy energy. And when I was younger, I had weird energy shit coming my way (I didn't have a peaceful mind), now when I hear stories from people about crazy stuff that happens to them, I wish them a nice day and sidestep them as quickly as possible. How's that for deep? P.S. The best compliment I've ever received came from a little girl at camp (about 11) who told me, 'I like to sit next to you because you have good energy.' It doesn't get any better than that. My goal in life is to be the person that feels good to sit next to. P.P.S. I bet Drinker doesn't ask again how we're doing. lol P.P.P.S. I don't care that that's a horrible picture of me. But in fairness I don't actually have green blotches on my face, as shown. I have no idea why the camera is so grainy. My first selfie, no shit. And I never look at other people's pictures and I don't much care that other people do. The last picture I had up was an old photo of me wincing at getting my picture taken. I thought it captured my spirit (and my feelings about Google) so I left it up for years and years. I created this Google account to collect spam and I never really thought about that picture, until guys started hitting on me on-line. They all seemed very nice, but I never wanted to be valued for my looks alone, so then when I switched to 'Jobs Over Jabs' I didn't have to think about it again. I was actually in the process of stripping lead tainted varnish off the woodwork in my dining room in the old picture - old clothes, no make-up, and I was holding a piece of steel wool in my hand. I thought it was a funny picture. I wasn't trying to misrepresent myself, I just didn't think about it. Now, I'd rather have a bad picture of myself up then have anyone think I was presenting myself as other than what I am. But again, I don't have green blotches on my face.

You didnt hear that in 2003 2007 2008 2012 2018 or 2020 because in all those years the company was worth more and have a better reputation that it does now. I also doubt you heard that from ubisoft themselves like you are now. The company itself is publicly looking for someone to buy them. Which gets us back to the beginning of you pretending Ubisoft is in anyway equal to Suckerpunch. Suckerpunch has no failed games, has no negative public perception, isnt looking to be bought out because they are failing.

Saying “Make your own decisions” to someone saying we should Boycott Disney+ is kinda weird…

And it’s your decision if you listen to him or not. They don’t say “boycott whether you think it’s a good idea or not….”

Not at all. You should make your own decisions and not just be swayed by knowing someone you look up to or follow says to do a thing.

@@shaunmartin454nah it’s super weird for someone who’s adamantly against Disney to not agree that they should boycott it, just because someone shares their opinion or stance on something doesn’t mean everyone listening or looking up to them should follow their every whim and wish. But not agreeing with something your whole channel is basically built on IS weird.

@@EmptyAltruismyou don’t think it would be weird if I said “we should jail all criminals” and he said we should make our own decision? like yeah obviously everyone needs to make their own decision, but fence sitting by answering like that when his whole channel is built on bashing the shitty behind the scenes goings on at Disney AND the quality of the work they put out not being worth your money, it’s super weird he wouldn’t be able to just agree and move on and instead avoid taking a stance on it. It’s weird. My comment never once said anything about why doesn’t everyone jus listen to drinker or why isn’t drinker agreeing with me, it’s simply stating it’s weird for him to suddenly not vocalize his dislike for Disney now.

@@Gojeto346I think it's weird you keep using the word "weird" it's almost like you're a parrot regurgitating a certain word that's been repeated by certain political affiliates lately
