I sincerely hope that One Piece keeps the ethnicities consistent. I loved Lucky Roo and Noniko’s casting, but my god. Oda has given us the backstory of like every major character, every straw hat and villains childhood, ethnicity, basic like and dislikes through his sbs columns, it’s all available for anyone to read, I hope Netflix doesn’t just ignore that treasure trove of lore. the reason a live action wasn’t attempted before was because Oda believed that while the world could be created in LA, his characters couldn’t be properly cast. It’s gonna be the most important part of the show going forward.

For the first question: A show I can recommend is Nagatoro. It set off "that" part of twitter because of it's first episode but it's actually really sweet. It also got twitter angry because they thought the tanned Japanese girl, with obvious tanlines, was somehow a bad depiction of black people... My languages dub is pretty good but I hear the English dub fumbles a significant plot point. It's supposed to be this sweet moment when he learns her first name but the English dub makes everyone constantly call her that, making him look like a complete idiot when the moment he's supposed to realize he never learned it comes.

I usually don't care for romcom but that one is really good. Don't be scared off by the start! The main character is literally at the lowest point of his life, years of bullying left him cometely turtled up and it gives room for so much character development! Nagatoro also grows as a person. She learns boundaries and when to stop teasing him. (I also had a guywho asked wether she has a skin condition because parts of it were lighter than others. I guess some twitter users really never leave the basement...)

As someone who grew up in Asia that complaint is patently silly. There a so many sub-types _in Japan alone,_ some of them are tan as hell. Traditionally dark skin is associated with working-class, farmers, or baseball stars. In anime a dark-skinned character is equivalent to a Texan in American cartoons. And this is _just in Japan._ Trust me, when Japan wants to mock black people, _you would know._

Would enjoy seeing Critical Drinker do a recommends or review of 'Absence of Malice'. Enjoyed it when it first released, and have comeback to it over the years and felt it aged well. Who is watching TLOU after Episode 3 or even if you get past that totally made up part of it then Episode 8? The only reason to watch to the end would be to see the rescue which even in itself isn't shown properly. Joel only kills the Doctor because he has NO choice which is shown in game as the doc would have killed him. Basically Ellie's survival depends on it. As far as TLOU2 which will be what we can see the next series being based on it which retconned the doc and the ending so that Neil could have his wet dream TransAbby (yeah we know but it defintlely comes across that way) and throws in a "Non Binary" just because current day when the reality is that in a zombie type apocalypse that shit would be the last thing on people's minds. In fact if anyone wants to claim it will be let's throw them in the middle of a war and see how few people give a fk what they identify as if anyone. In fact survival is the first thing, then food, warmth, trading, building a community, farming, elecrticity, then IF you can survive long enough finding someone to keep humanity going so "Trans" and "Non Binary" won't be a part of that crap because I doubt anyone will know what it is in the time it takes for all these things to happen. Think about it. When Eliie has her encounter it's already far into the apocalypse. I get gay and Lesbian because that's something that may be part of the way you explore your sexuality but even so it won't be widespread hence the way that the "Bigot sandwich" is thrown in there but reality is that it won't be normal even at those times as it is today. SO "Non Binary" being a thing>? Not a chance. 1 in a Billion that they even have heard of the term by that time. It's not that it would have been stamped out but where would that have been upheld? the Human race is at stake and you think that someone being "Non Binary" that far into a Zombie type apocalypse is even a thing? Good luck with that because I bloody doubt it. TLOU2 was Woke Current day BS pushed for Ideology and Woke Points. Episde 3 being Review PRAISED? Episode 3 was made-up but I liked the gruff-guy / dapper-guy dynamic and how Frank's all friendly and Bill is just at the table with a gun hating every second. I miss the "you listen here you little shit 🔪" interchange with Ellie, but eh, we got what we got and most of it works. Not a fan of how Bill was standing in the middle of the firefight with no cover like a dumbass; they did it for the shot to look cool but it was dumb. My issues with the show are mostly dumb quibbles like that. As far as TLOU2, yeah that was a _politics first, logic never_ story but I didn't have a problem with the trans Asian kid, and I'll explain why; they're just trying to break off with everything that reminds them of the cult mentality, and the kid (mistakenly or not) developed a negative association with being female and that got lumped in with their more important need to escape the cult in general. Whether you agree with it or not, there is an in-universe reason for that character _in specific_ to go genderfluid. If there _was_ a context for someone in the apocalypse to be like that, that is exactly the type of person who would do that. Whether it's right for the story to focus on that person, eh, your mileage clearly differs from mine. TLOU 1 and 2 is and always was a "woke" story, it just happens to have a lot of good writing, as well as some really _ass_ writing, in that and I'll note that for what it's worth.

Re the midichlorians- they got off entirely on the wrong foot in the first place with that. Because that term actually debuted in the EU, in the books by Kevin Anderson that followed Timothy Zahn's Heir to the Empire trilogy. A device that detects midichlorians had been found, and Wedge is one of the first people it's tested on. And it found he was completely Force-free. So at the same time they introduced this rather strange concept regarding the Force (in terms of how it had been treated thus far) as well as emphasizing that one of the most popular characters had no connection to the Force at all. That didn't go over well with the fandom, lol.

Ah yes Mauler and Drinker. The 4kids take on One Piece is indeed a hilarious disaster. It mainly comes from a bad flow because they tried to make it more kid friendly and censored enough for "modern audiences" Things like Mihawks swords are changed so they do not show the Christian cross. Don Kriegs pointy bullets are changed for suction naps. No blood anywhere. In short. It was probably a bunch of pen pushers thinking to earn a lot of one piece while not understanding that the target audience wasn't early elementary school

I really like Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, I think it is the best Marvel movie from Infinity War. It's the saddest movie in this universe, but still optymistic and sometimes funny. I watched it twice and enjoyed it even more on second viewing. The only bad thing is that music is getting worse with every part, but since they move 10 year in music every time, and we don't have a good music anymore it's completely logical.

Yeah, the old EU did start to get very weird towards the end. The Yuuzhan Vong and one of Han and Leia's kids falling to the Darkside and restarting the Sith... The Mando masturbation by Karen Traviss... A lot of the magic was lost and there was some awkward shoving in of stuff from the Prequels and KOTOR. So a soft reboot and reorganization of the EU with the stuff from the Prequel Era and KOTOR might not have been bad. But they didn't do that. It did actually feel like proper scifi and science-fantasy, instead of a soulless, burnt out tourist trap.

One Piece anime doesn't really have any filler, they do stretch out the later episodes in the anime. Naruto does have a lot of filler episodes. Death Note is a good start for serious anime as it doesn't have that many chapters, neither does Attack on Titan.

There is filler, but the real problem with the anime is the slow as hell pacing. I just reached the new world, and the pacing drops to less than a manga chapter per episode, and you can really feel it.

What about my Super Chat?! This was my first Super Chat ever, so I was quite eager to hear your takes on the matter. It's there in my purchase history, so it must have gone through. It wasn't anything important and it was weirdly phrased because of the length limit. Still, the Drinker's comment at the end about everybody's comment deserving some acknowledgement really felt weird. I suggested something admittedly far from revolutionary, my point being that it was Disney that pushed the situation this far; so that now extreme measures are required. Anyway, the one meat that can't ever go on pizza or pasta is chicken. It seems nobody outside Italy gets it, though.
