See I would agree that 2TB would seem like a fair middle ground option but given how big a lot of games are getting I would argue 4TB is probably a much better option given that it's now far more affordable than it was ten years ago where as 8TB we're seeing the prices that 4TB drives were sitting at before.

Yeah I'll buy a Xbox One series X with the cost of a 4TB SSD... We'll go after one. A 4TB SSD is around $350. Save another $100-150 for a Xbox (I've seen it for $450 for a while )

I got a 2TB two years ago and it’s already down to 500GB left. I get a new game every 2-3 months so if you play a lot of games 4tb is pretty reasonable if you don’t want to delete.

Move any game you aren't immediately playing to an external drive. You can save your games on external drives and just use the internal SSD drive for games you often play. These ssd cards can even be more expensive than the consoles.

I have a 2 tb and it just doesn’t feel like there is enough space. I don’t save anything gameplay or screenshot wise it’s all games and game saves. Thinking about the actual 8tb since they are a lot cheaper now. But like you I have an overload of games.

Wow this was very informative. I only have enough time to get through a game every 2-4 months, and so I’m convinced 2tb is sufficient esp since I’ll put ps4 games as well. By the time ps6 comes out, I don’t think i will have spent enough money on games to fill up a 4 or 8tb. I mainly want to get games on sale, so can wait for 1+ yr. Can I make a video recommendation? Some cost analysis factoring the cost of buying games, the time required to finish those games, and if it’s worth the expense if we plan to buy a ps6. That would be eye opening!

once i installed over 1000 games, and emulated 200 more, it only filled up 5TB, out of 10 in my pc... so, i would say, 4TB is my sweet spot. that's enough storage to install all your games comfortably.

There is zero reasons, as of now, as to why anyone needs 8TB in their PS5 console. Just buy an external Hard Drive for the other games that you aren't currently playing. That being said, I have a 2TB M.2 SSD in my console and have been seriously looking to upgrade to a 4TB.

Now all I want is a future Playstation with 4 slots for NVME… so you could mount 4x 8TB :) Same thing with the Xbox, I just wish we would have a version with 4 Expansion slots. I own like 110 games right now and I can’t install them all on the 1+2TB I have, they’re already full. I wouldn’t mind to buy more expansion cards, if I could mount them all in the same time. Of course, the Playstation has the advantage to have a 4 and 8TB option… unfortunately Microsoft hasn’t release those for Xbox… maybe they prefer us to use the Cloud. I have to say, I remove a Forza game to make 150GB space for other games, and now I start it using the cloud and it works ok. But I have a fiber optic 8Gbps internet… it helps :)

Good thing I don't have all the time in the world to play all those games. But 2TB is definitely a must have. In my case, I would go physical copy for PS5 exclusives to save spaces. Went digital on a game that released on both PS4 and PS5 since most game offers you for copy for both, a sweet deal if you have both PS4 & PS5. But in the mean time, I'll go full physical copy after PS4 era is over.
