Only 2 minutes in but wanted to say I adore the fact that you simply watched the performance of this legend, icon, genius, pick a word, with a big smile on your face and waited to comment. Now on to what you have to say. :)

"What a Wonderful World" was a top ten hit in the UK for Louis Armstrong in 1967. This footage is from the BBC, iirc. He passed only a few years later. His music nearly always puts a smile on my face and when it doesn't that's because he's playing the blues and he would rather I shed a tear.

The "Oh yeah" at the end makes this Louis' song. He was one of a kind. Blind people on remote islands know that voice. He just makes you want to smile.

My mom loved his music so much and was inspired by him to learn trumpet. She played it all her life. The best part is she named her trumpet, “Satchmo”. I am so thankful she introduced me to so much music, including Mr. Armstrong and Ms. Horne, and so many others. We played a few of his songs at her memorial.

Absolutely love this. Louis Armstrong's performances were magical. I couldn't tell you why, but his version of "What A Wonderful World", has always been my favorite. But I think you hit it on the head with Louis believes in what the song is saying, and I feel that. I love your reactions. I would love to hear your reaction to Dame Shirley Bassey's "Never, Never, Never" , or Emma Kok "Voila" either with Andre Rieu, or Helene Fischer, or Alita Moses, "This Will Be" with Hudson Horns(Alita was a winner at the Montreux Jazz Festival in I believe 2014).

Mr. Armstrong is the first person I remember playing with a trumpet mute. I think he was a trumpeter who sings, and you saw his trumpet in this video. With the right mute, he could play a tune with the same rasp that he sang with..fantastic. He was such a performer that after he became to ill to sing or play, he went into the rocording studio one more time to record a spoken version of "Twas the Night Before Christmas" which remains a holiday favorite.

One of my favorites as a young boy. One of the first songs I always try to work out everytime I try a new instrument. (Piano, organ, trombone, recorder... meh. Harmonica-nailed it) enjoy the tune!

The most amazing thing I hear in Louis Armstrong’s singing is his unpredictable phrasing which like Billie Holiday’s makes singing along in perfect synchronicity with them very hard to do. And like Billie his diction/story-telling/groove/intonation & honesty are on a level unattainable by anyone else.

His sound is one of the things that makes him great. So many people have tried to sing this song. My advice is "don't". You're just going to screw it up. It belongs to Louis Armstrong. Accept the facts and stay in your lane.

Nice to visit with you again Jess and great choice. Ol' Satch pretty well wrote the book on male jazz vocal stylings. I've seen him even slap a vibrato on his sibilants - don't try that at home! Btw you're a world class act yourself ma'am, just saying.

🎄Happy 2024 Year! The duet of Diana Ankudinova and Yulia Parshuta on the song by Toni Braxton - Un-Break My Heart will bring you real pleasure this holiday days. World-class vocalists in a cool show. According to the conditions of the show "Duets", the participants of the duet do not know with whom they are singing in pairs, they are separated by a mirror partition, and the sound in the ear monitors is greatly distorted. The main essence of the show is the emotions of the artists, when near the end of the performance the partition is lowered and the artists see each other. The best sound is the video from Diana's channel.

Fine reaction, congratulations! 👍👏 But... "he can get away with that"? Sorry, of course he can get away with that! He can do anything he wants to, he could do anything he wanted to in such an amazing performance like this one! An epic performance! "And I think to myself: what a wonderful voice"! I am a curious man, so I know many things about music made years, decades before I was born, and I firmly believe that only one guy had a voice even better than mr. Armstrong's voice: the one who was called "king", Nat King Cole! That's why I ask of you a reaction to a Nat King Cole's performance!🙏 In my opinion, perhaps a male singer's closest to perfection performance (my favorite one!) could be heard when Nat King Cole recorded "When I fall in love".
