I love everything about opeth but I ya e one minor complaint / question , at 4:07 , that first bend mike does sounds a lot less powerful than in the past, is he no longer hitting that bend and just sliding into that note now? Or is it just different gear and tone? It still sounds good, but if feels less powerful when compared to the roundhouse tapes for example.
@migs72204 жыл бұрын
When I hear Orchid on a version that is not the first I always still tap to the old notes as they play in my head. The newer release is just off! But my old version has a nasty skip I was never able to replace...
@AndreBigBoi22 күн бұрын
He raked the note on the record, here he didn't. A rake is when you play muted strings shortly before hitting a bend

This is a symphony of kick ass, sadness and death and I love it! This is right up there with the "Bohemian Raphsody's" and "Dream On's" masterpiece, gotta love those transissions!!!!!

This song is the entry point to another dimension of music. All other bands/musicians/artists come into same realm but not Opeth
@abhishekchaubey9036 жыл бұрын
@facepalm486 i have listened to more than you could imagine. Tool are pretentious with mathematical cringe. DT and KC are my all time favorites and Porcupine tree/SW is the only band that can be kept parallel to Opeth
@abhishekchaubey9036 жыл бұрын
@facepalm486 see for me, music should represent some kind of emotion and also, that shouldnt be deliberate. DT PT KC Opeth these bands have never composed something to prove their instrument capabilities. If you cant take a criticism about Tool, you too somewhere need to get down and listen to more soulful stuff no matter how much technical/non technical it is. I have learnt so many things from Danny carey but when it comes to memorable and emotional melodies, i dont recall many except schizm 46 &2 jambi right in two
@rbnh98276 жыл бұрын
The fuck with this cringy comment..just watch the video..give a like and fuck off..after 2-3 years you would realise that there's no 'entry point'. Good bands are good but no need to overbloat anything.

@@abhishekchaubey903 right, as if Dream Theater wasnt pretentious technical jerking 99% of the time.

I agree Abhishek ... Opeth is unlike anything I've heard. I've heard Rush, Dream Theater, Kansas, Genesis, etc. It is beautiful and sad at the same time, brutal and light, perfect ... Hugs from Brazil, and sorry for my english.

Man, I wish I could've been there. Such a musical experience! Opeth remains my only band related tattoo. These guys are everything I'd want in a death / progressive metal band. Atmospheric, heavy, melodic. \m/

This band really exemplifies my upbringing with the weirdness of Uriah Heep and the smoothness of deep purple. I'm just in aww of the performance, with a sense of joy just to follow along the cheers of the crowd. Magnificent performance!

He has definitely had to train hjs vocal cords to apply a different way of getting those growls to sustain with the more melodic singing. Truly Inspiring ❤️. I love this band.

We’ll miss axe dearly. Opeth will never be the same without him. New drummer did a pretty good job at learning the songs and making sure they could still tour but I really don’t think the band will ever be the same.

The sound guy sure nailed it. A perfect musical composition such as this one, deserves a perfect live mixing (which is hard to achieve, must be added). Opeth is just incredible, and having the pleasure to listen to it with such a great audio quality, in a live show, it's delightful!

I went to a metal festival once in Toronto. Mastodon was there. GWAR was there. Opeth came on part way through the day after some much heavier bands, and when Mike growled into the microphone I thought the fucking roof was going to come down. Could almost hear the sound engineer panicking, like, crap, I had this set for all the other vocalists.
