CLIP DESCRIPTION:
Eddie (Dana Carvey) moves the sales meeting to a place where "major life decisions are made."
FILM DESCRIPTION:
Saturday Night Live star Dana Carvey had his first leading role on the big screen in this comedy. Eddie (Carvey) and Lou (Todd Graff) are a pair of small-time con artists deep in debt to Pinkie (Mike Bacarella), a loan shark. During a lean period, Eddie and Lou resort to breaking and entering to make some money, but as they're clearing out a house, they overhear the answering machine announce that the owner is away on business for a few weeks -- and the housesitter won't be able to stop by. Eddie and Lou settle in and enjoy their good fortune, which just gets better when Milt (Robert Loggia) pays a visit. Milt assumes that Eddie is the housesitter, who is a close friend of his son. Eddie is soon introduced to Milt's beautiful daughter, Annie (Julia Campbell), and Milt decides that Eddie is executive material at his successful manufacturing firm. Soon Eddie starts to wonder if he should go on lying to the people he's come to like -- and there's the little matter of the 60,000 dollars that Eddie and Lou swiped from Pinkie's car. Opportunity Knocks also features Milo O'Shea and James Tolkan.

The most underrated comic genius of our time. Dana Carvey deserved a far brighter post-SNL career than he received. Brilliant comic. Masterful impersonator. His sketch comedy show The Dana Carvey Show suffered only from an unimaginative name and should've run for multiple seasons. Instead, he mostly served as little more than a booster rocket to Mike Myers career. Also a comic genius, starkly limited by his own successes, but Dana really got the short end.

@@terrancethomas9792 he's kinda right though, we do sometimes tend to think our deep life analyzing thoughts while in the bathroom stall, it's one of those moments where we're shut off from others and alone with our own thoughts

I forgot how good this movie was, and seeing it again on Netflix at my friend's house yesterday, I noticed even more at my older and wiser age how slick and clever some of Dana's scams are in this movie. Cracked up at his George Bush Sr. impersonation. And, this is definitely the better of Dana's two disguise movies, much smarter, funnier, and less annoying than the inferior "Master of disguise". There's only one scene I don't like in "Opportunity knocks", and that is his singing "Born to be wild" as "Wildman" at the club, it was embarrassingly awful. But, the rest of the film is great and totally makes up for it.
