Oprah has yet to fully understand how badly the Sussex interview damaged her reputation. I no longer care what she says-about anything-because she was so clearly in cahoots to spread misinformation about the Monarchy with that scripted interview. You can't play a part in putting propaganda into the world and expect to come out unscathed, and she is seeing that now with the Maui debacle. On a separate note, Dolly Parton gave of herself - a hometown concert - in exchange for donations. Oprah asked for donations but gave nothing in return assuming her name alone would entice people to give. What an ego.

It's surprising that none of them trust these two with their money. The biggest donation was an anonymous donation of 500. I bet they themselves donated them. They have no real friends, they are lonely and yet she wants to sell books teaching people happiness. Ironic!! They're blocking people from visiting their own properties, they rezoned their properties so they can start to build high rise apartments to solve the housing crisis, homeowners insurance claims are already being denied due to this emergency proclimation, the most they'll probably get is free rent in one of these micro apartments for a year or two and whatever money this fund raises. Many people didn't know where to donate and a lot of accounts that were set up for Maui were scams. Oprah and Dwayne Johnson set up something people could trust would go into the hand of verified Maui residents that were affected by the fires. Like any fundraiser, you are free not to donate anything. I'm from Hawaii and I'm grateful she and Dwayne Johnson used their resources to start this. I really don't understand why there is so much resentment towards her when her intentions were from a good place. She already donated $10 million, even if it was $100 million, I doubt that would be enough for her critics. It's sad to see all the hate and negativity when someone is trying to do good. I think Oprah and others will be leery of donating or starting any fundraiser again, it will never be enough.

The charity she claimed would put money directly in the hands of Maui's fire victims was being funneled thru a charity called Entertainment Industry Foundation or EIF. According to their own website the CEO and President of EIF have annual salaries of $1,030,759. The top ten officers pay themselves over $6,000,000 per year, with the average salary at EIF is $117,081. So of the $10,000,000 donated by Oprah and the Rock, $6,000,000 of that goes to pay the salaries of EIF employees per year.

Did you know that EIF has been around for more than 75 years and they administer hundreds of charities? The fund was setup within EIF literally BECAUSE the foundation already has the infrastructure to administer the funds. The money collected wasn’t going to pay for the salaries because the salaries are already being paid and they have been for more than 75 years. Stop accepting every conspiracy theory as truth.

Teaching people how to be happy through a book makes me unhappy. I have a bit of money, so I get that's not quite it. But true happiness comes from meaningful connections you make. That includes yourself too, connecting with yourself. Happy is also subjective and not long lasting. It's in bursts!! In order to feel happy- you must feel sadness as well. You don't have to read a book to be happy, stop over thinking it. 😊

This American isn’t happy at all. I moved to an expensive city to take care of my sick grandfather, he was dying and needed a caregiver so of course I jumped in to help. I can’t afford to move now, I’m living paycheck to paycheck. The last thing I thought would happen was getting trapped here because after my grandparents and mother died, I had no one. My family is gone. I have no family, no moral support, nothing. I work just to stay alive and keep my pets alive because honestly they’re all I have left. So a group of people telling me to be Happy and asking me for money to help a group of people who not only dislike me for being a “colonist” but I’m struggling financially myself, you’re actually insane. That is insanity. Not Einstein version, but the actual mental illness psychopathy.
