This book ignores Native Americans, Chinese Americans, Hispanic Americans, and the way in the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries that Irish Americans and Italian Americans and all immigrants from "the low countries" in Europe were also treated by the largely Protestant and Catholic (State of Maryland) hegemony in the United States. If you just look at New Orleans and the Creole system, there were many delineations, not a Bipolar one. Wilkerson also says she was surprised to discover that the Nazis used Jim crow laws as a template for their own. Any college graduate knows this. America's racism has NEVER been Bipolar. This book ignores so much. Sad.

The country has never been Bipolar. There have always been Native Americans, and black people, and later the Chinese and the Creole and Hispanics, there have been all sorts of hierarchies in the racist system. She ignores this.

It's not about Oprah...its about Anglo Saxons always get more praise or and better treatment than any other color in U.S. If I were Anglo Saxon I would feel attacked too. Please don't feel offended. But ask is...could this have any validity...!?!?
@Beehighfive
@Beehighfive 3 жыл бұрын
See my name. It's real. I'm Anglo Saxon or what some people call a W.A.S.P. For some that is as offensive as being called the n word because that was the purpose of calling us the derogatory word. We can be tracked to the 5th century in Great Britain. When you refer to us as Anglo Saxon your referring to our Ancestry as a tribe not our race. Not all white people are considered Anglo Saxon. The Irish and Dutch don't consider themselves Anglo Saxon nor do the Catholics or Jews even though they are white. Do you think all these white people had lives all peaces and roses? Did you learn anything in school about white slavery? I don't think you did because it wasn't in the history books. White people are proud people despite the horrors they lived through. The difference is we don't have a race card to pull out. We suffered the crimes against us silently and didn't play the victim. Oprah is an embarrassment to her race and the white people apologizing for their white privilege are dumb people. bitchute.com/embed/sxO14KC1AX9L/ "White Slavery, The Privilege They Erased From History." Dana Ashlie. I have never seen Anglo Saxon or any other white people get more praise of better treatment then another race and I'm 60. Most of the time the only way an Anglo Saxon can be identified is by their surname. Be proud of who are Tiffany. You can do anything you set your mind to. Don't let rich black women convince you that you are victim because of the color of you skin. The Hodge Twins made a video for Oprah. I hope you watch to the end. kzbin.info/www/bejne/mYGUh4uerLJlpJo

The only reason casteism exists today is because pseudo-philanthropists or opinionated ‘archaeologists’ fit some form of paradelia to the explicitly complex social structure of nature, citing the bias of previous anathema. This paradelia does not differentiate the natural stratification of people of high-quality jobs and people scarce of meaningful work. This is not to say that people lacking in experience cannot rise through their self-actualization to positions of influence, as we can clearly see by social media influencers. This is also not to say that affluence rids people of their bad deeds, i.e. homosexual persecution in Islamic states or the Uighur Muslim plight in China. The problem, and this is not new to you, is that you promote a mental narrative which provides an image of a black man being lynched, making your adherents reactive in nature to ANYTHING you might have to say. You do NOT speak for Indians, you do NOT speak for the united citizens of this country, and your WORDS do NOT come from a place of divinity or understanding. The TRUTH is, that any people anywhere can uplift themselves and the entire world through empathy and understanding, and these are the moral values in Indian culture. No matter what religion, atheist, animist, etc.- if you are dedicated to your human responsibilities and rights in codex, you will not promote the division of peoples first. You would first unite, if you had ANY common intellectual ground with Absolute Truth.

The euphoria of hate? Hmm. Idk. Group psychosis of hate maybe. It's not exciting or energizing for me. Maybe I hate some people but it's usually on an individual basis. I hate certain kinds of attitudes, the Karens, the people who abuse the working class and service sector employees. But this isn't based on race. So it's not as easy to pinpoint or act on. Racism requires making an many generalizations that end up to be false and harm many innocent people so that's why we have to work to rip it out of our institutions. Question rules that seem arbitrary, or only there to serve one segment of people, or level of access. Ask how can systems be made more fair, more equitable, and less biased.

While this is probably an important book to be read, personally, and I don't mean to be disrespectful, for me "Caste", is not any sort of a New Idea at all. Not in any way. It has lived on for Centuries. And I'm surprised that the Caste system in India and Germany and certain other Countries-Middle East-North Korea-China (mass genocide taking place right now against the Uighers-nobody cares!) If a person living in America as a Minority, doesn't already know that there is basically a set Caste system rooted in failure, and hasn't struggled with it their whole lives--then I don't know exactly where that particular minority has been residing. Certainly not in the U.S. One thing in particular that I disagree with is this idea of "the house-basement" metaphor-and here's why: 1) Real Poverty means you don't have ANY House at all therefore there is no Basement to fix. 2) In our Culture, a popular thing to do is take someone else's words and turn them upside down and claim that as your own new big idea. It happens ALL the time. I am not a fan of it. This House Metaphor has already famously made it's debut by Greta Thunberg and her House metaphor is way better. There is always the "burning house"-metaphor everyone is already familiar with. That is timeless. Sadly, this has been done to me. A person never recovers. 3) SO MUCH OF AMERICA is already trapped in Economic Caste systems designed by Capitalists to insure multitudes of the middle and lower classes regardless of RACE-this means EVERYONE-are now fighting against an onslaught of tidal waves of defeat that no-one can truly rise up from. The Corporate HR strategy of hiring and firing hundreds of people, at the click of an email-based on various nonrelated factors having nothing to do with a person's ability to do that Job! The very way that Human Resource Corporations now own the opportunity based solely on: Credit Score/Facebook-Social Media/References/Background Check ALL Requirements that are oftentimes skewed and or wrong and openly discriminate. Banking Constraints--Housing/Rental Constraints-1st month's Rent plus Last month's Rent plus Deposit-plus Moving expenses plus clean Credit report-(Credit Reporting is basic Modern day Slavery imposed on EVERYONE-)- The very FACT that decent Medical Care is VERY hard to get-practically impossible for A LOT of people. The FACT that being Poor leads to CRIME-The FACT that Our Country is falling down into suffering of the multitudes with no way to rise above it. These are all a type of Caste System regardless of RACE. I do not agree that we all have inherent racism in our bones. And that does not make me a racist. At a certain point, people need to be allowed to move past Race. Just care for one another regardless of skin tone and get on with HUMANITY AS A WHOLE moving forward. I'm not saying Race doesn't matter, not in any way; I just think this premise of everyone being rooted down and unable to rise up from the sins of centuries past isn't helpful. And YES, Black Lives Matter! To me they Matter A LOT! That is why all of what is and has been occurring for such a long time feels so overwhelming. I don't think this book will make me feel better about what I already know. I just wish that our society would acknowledge the Colorless Caste System of Corporate Greed and Economic Punishment that has become an insurmountable Mountain that very few people can actually climb. "Caste", is probably a fine book. And it will open people's minds. I hope so. Will this knowledge change much? Not too sure about that. The Author seems very sincere & kind-hearted 🌞🌷🌸 ~

I just realized you blame capitalism for economic disparity. It is a free market. It’s what we want so that we can create our own value in society and teach the next generation that. But I strongly urge you to look into unfair business practices and lobbyism, crowd funding under false pretense and political action commitee donation fraud. Etcetera que çera, çera for the misguided- they are just abusing our willpower and labor to stop us from creating value in our communities via outreach and social programs. We already HAVE all of that. It is just behind the curtain of lies the media feeds us. We have to take our problems TO government, so that they are visible. We should not create the problems and then ask for a bail out. Sound familiar???????????????????? K thanks, don’t let the door made in unsafe working conditions hit you on your way out, commies. Also other countries lie to their civilians about the evils of America and then they come here thinking that the solution they want at home will definitely work here because they’re free to speak against our Constitution the way they do. Executive order said huuuuhh no more! Together we stand, divided we fall.

HARVEY WEINSTEIN'S OLD PAL OPRAH;THE PERSONIFICATION OF WHITE PRIVILEGE WINFREY said: “There are white people who are not as powerful as the system of white people-the caste system that’s been put in place”. “But they still, no matter where they are on the rung or ladder of success, they still have their whiteness.” Even though SHE was poor when young, WINFREY, whose net worth is over $2.6 BILLION, is now TOO far REMOVED, she’s TOO PRIVILEGED HERSELF to speak about working-class people of ANY COLOR. HOW did SHE get here, anyway? OPRAH, who is worth nearly $3BILLION, one of the BIGGEST media moguls in US history, and probably the WEALTHIEST black woman on the PLANET by a WIDE margin. RATHER, isn’t SHE a TESTAMENT to what a person CAN ACCOMPLISH with DILIGENCE, HARD WORK, SELF-DISCIPLINE, a bit of SMARTS and capturing a few PRIVILEGES along the way? WHERE else is a person MORE free to put THOSE traits on display and PROSPER than in the UNITED STATES? In WHAT other country could OPRAH HAVE taken her shot with what SHE knew and what SHE was capable of and become as POWERFUL as SHE is and a BILLIONAIRE almost THREE TIMES OVER? How is Oprah’s FINGER-POINTING and RANTING about ‘WHITE privilege’ at ALL dealing with the MORE SERIOUS issues that are WORTH DISCUSSING and FIGHTING for TODAY? SHE enjoyed the FREEDOM PRIVILEGE of THIS COUNTRY to BECOME RICH HERSELF and she is BLACK. So the COLOR of your SKIN is NOT a PRIVILEGE.
