Awesome Ed 👍 You did invent this style whit short lines! I got the English school and that still is the same you just has longer belly and D-loop but double spey is about sweep and punch it out at that angle you so desire. The commando heads are so easy to cast its silly compere to the long ones we did back the days. The key factor is load of the rod and keep that load true the hole cast ! Single spey is much more difficult to learn then the double! Good video best regards from Scandinavia Sweden 🇸🇪

@@OPSkagit Absolutely and one more thing that can be said here ! A true a action rod help you cast water borne cast. What I mean whit true action is progressive action that increases from top to bottom. Whit out any ded spots in the blank. There is a difference whit rods for Scandinavian style casting who don't flex in the bottom section! Those short stroke fast action rod are made for overhead and touch and go cast. You can speycasting them but they not a good choice..... The OPST rod line is well working product's who help the angler. The brand of a rod is not what cast it's the action and you do the right movement in proper order ! I'm borne in scandi land Sweden 🇸🇪 and we did cut our lines sense long time back. But the fat and heavy skagit head did beef up here in my personal opinion. By shortening down the heads that do novice caster to actually be in the game fishing not battle to achieve a decent cast who can catch a fish. So thanks Ed Scott Mike who gave us this formula! Best regards from Sweden 🇸🇪 And tight lines 👍

@@OPSkagit I’ve in earnest practice cast nightly for several years. I can now single Spey long belly lines and scandi lines better than most. When I want to catch fish and have a pretty looking loop go out, there is no better/easier combo than what OPST prescribes. I say easier, that doesn’t mean everyone or any one without putting time in can make it look pretty.

Sorry, I have one more question. Would you recommend this type of double Spey on a windy day. I tried this cast as opposed to flipping the rod/line. The issue I had is that the line blew back into my backside.
@OPSkagit Жыл бұрын
Depends on which direction the wind is blowing, but yes we throw double spey casts in the wind:)
@robertwest7197 Жыл бұрын
@@OPSkagit yes we all use a double Spey with a down stream wind but is this particular double Spey susceptible to having the wind blow the line back into to you after the sweep?

Hello! Ed is always looking at where the fly has landed. For what? I'd like to think it's for knowing how to form a D-loop in a particular case. Please make a video on how to cast if the fly is too close or too far ahead of you. I don't include a way to restart casting. Thank you!
@OPSkagit2 жыл бұрын
Fly placement is important so you don’t hit yourself with the fly. We have a new video out explaining this.
