one thing i am kind of confused/unsure about is the part about glucose. i have read that glucose increases the amount of free radicals in the brain, which hurt the cells. and thinking that people who do fasting do not seem to have the "hunger-problem" (i fasted for three days myself and have to admit this is true) i am not quite sure if glucose is really that important but i'll read more into that, maybe i find something i did not know yet

What's the difference between a pre-commitment and a bright line?
@boris90478 жыл бұрын
+krige As I understand it, the bright line is just a clarification of the pre-commitment, a very clear and straight forward way to express what you are going to do, for example "doing the dishes before watching tv", simple and clear. It's a pre-commitment, presented in a clear och simple way (bright line).

Kelly AbuAmreh: A penetrating question. Ans. SELF Discipline. Alexander the Great who had conquered most of the known world asked one of his generals after a battle, " Where do I find the wisest men of all" ? the general replied.."it is said that holy men who live in a Himalayan cave in India can answer any question". After the journey and arriving with all his generals and entourage at the cave, Alexander found the holy men sitting in the attitude of prayer with their eyes closed. After some time one of the holy men opened his eyes, Alexander said " I am Alexander the Great, I have conquered the known world..what is left..what can I do now"? The Holy man replied "Sit down on that rock over there and conquer yourself now" That is the challenge to self.. Willpower is vital but willpower can be used wrongly as is evidenced by many dictators have used willpower amiss. With discipline willpower can be controlled. Also emotions will either be in subjection or they will rule and dominate. With self discipline in the mental arena men can overrule and control or quench anger. They can attain an inner peace and within that oasis of peace reason correctly. They can also if needed find and develop skill in war or combat. At any give moment what (emotion,virtue or motivation) that gets the job done in an honorable way could be used to attain victory for others and self. This brings us to honor and having a center of reference to base ones conduct on. A no compromise lifestyle with God and His word as the center of his/her decisions works for those who apply it. There are many facets that make up this thing we call "life". At any moment a culture is changing. What is "OK" to modern society is not necessarily honest or honorable by a set of standards years ago. Without self discipline and some center of reference for accountability the youth wander aimlessly. I remember reading of a successful man. When asked" what advice would have helped you most in your early struggles" he replied.."I wish someone had told me that when you get to the top..there is nothing there" Not a negative comment but tremendous illumination. There will be that emptiness or unrest until we change our focus and control our thoughts.
@Flickchaser7 жыл бұрын
Terry Gascay: Tremendous wisdom in your two answers Gratitude and Humility. I would humbly add control of our tongue but I would imagine that Humility would include the discipline to shut up and seek that rare golden nectar, the ancient treasure of treasures..silence.
