Doing a test on boiling water with Terra weekend HE and a Stanley stainless steel cooker.

Nice video. Just got the Terra pot, and it has significantly faster boil time. A suggestion on priming, I've owned my Svea since 1973. There's a faster way to prime it, especially in cold weather. Instead of just filling the primer well on top of the tank, dribble fuel into the burner cup, let it run down the generator tube into the primer well. I use an eyedropper, and it takes two dropper fulls to fill the primer well this way. When you ignite the fuel it rapidly heats the generator tube, and causes the fuel inside to vaporize more quickly. I wait until the flames just start to die down, turn the valve on and immediately get a blue flame. Ready for cooking. Also - when your finished with the stove, Turn the burner off. Wait about 15 seconds, and turn the burner back on about 1 full turn, then immediately turn it off. This will help keep the jet clean. I very rarely need to use my jet cleaning tool with this method. Still have my 40+ year old jet tool as a matter of fact!

I have a similar burner made in czechoslovakia called the Meva type 2140 And for priming I have made a modification. First I prefer to use denatured alcohol because it does not leave black soot on the burner. Secondo I have always find out a bit tricky not to spill some duel all over when putting back the windscreen so I did what Colorado Camper ( Check out his awesome Channel) suggest , add a piece a piece of carbon felt arround the base of the generator. Can tell you no more messy spill of fuel and fast priming. Check on my Channel I have put a video on that mod, simple but really worth it. Those roarer burners are bomb proof And I love their sound😀👍👊✌️
@peteriss96927 жыл бұрын
Your pre-heating procedure isnt right. The valve needs to be closed after initial lighting until the priming fuel is almost burnt, to allow operating pressure to build in the tank.

The flame control key should be removed from the stove whilst in operation, it will be too hot to touch after a couple of minutes.

I saw the Stanley in the description and I had to take a gander at the video! The Stanley will boil a bit faster if the heat is collected around the pot...but that is just a limitation in the design of the Stanley because of the tall slender structure...like a tin can but the darn thing is so useful in a lot of situations. that's why it is my pot of choice...lol.

Man Land Thank you Man Land, I like them both. In the Terra weekend HE, I can store my stove and the Stanley is classic.

Instead of an eye dropper, use a small piece of paper towel rolled up, about 2 inches. Dip that into the white gas and let it soak up the gas. Put the cap on.Then wrap it around the base of the generator. Try to keep it open at the cap so you don't fry the cap's washer. Then you won't have gas running down the sides. In the winter you may have to do it twice, so use gas from your refill tank. Also in the winter you may have to shield the stove from the cold ground to keep pressure.

If you are boiling 2 cups of water which I assume then 5 minutes plus is a very long time for the Optimus Weekender to come to a boil. I use the regular optimus gas stove and can do the same thing in a little over 2 minutes with a lot less hassle.
@NathansFerroceriumrods18 жыл бұрын
+Chuck Cunningham I agree. I have a Primus stove that I use most of the time. Thank you for taking time to comment.
