Love this channel. I like you also buy these used office PCs. I have been case swapping them too sometimes. How much did you get this PC for? When you run the Heaven benchmark, what are your settings? It means a LOT in terms of the performance numbers. For example, tessellation - is it on or off and if on to what degree - off, low, medium, etc? This one setting will totally change the results of any video card. Sorry not trying to nitpick you whatsoever. Games do use tessellation and I think it is important to tell us what all the settings are when you run this benchmark, which is a very good benchmark and easy for anyone to run. Anyhow - thanks for having this channel. It is quality and never miss a video. Take care.

When you say Optiplex, I say yes sir! I keep forgetting there are newer optiplex models to be found. If someone selling just thought it was some old PC, you could score a good deal.

It's just the same. Just double it, then add 1000 and then subtract 90. Don't be so picky! Very stupid jokes aside, I am sure it's just a typo. Yes I did borrow the joke from Elaine from Seinfeld when she was giving her new phone number to a guy.

Yes, and see if you can get the OEM single slot RX 6500 for your comparison video.
@TheGameBench3 ай бұрын
With the 6400, it's not so much the average frame rate that you have to pay attention to. It's the frame rate consistency. It can be A LOT more than 12% in a Gen3 slot, but you can avoid those issues for the most part if you stay away from the VRAM limit. And the 6400 temps are just how they are. Mine gets into the 80's on an open test bench. Some people have had luck putting a 40mm fan at the rear of the card to bring temps down some. As for the CPU... yeah, the stock cooler isn't great, and you might be able to bring down temps by adding a front 80mm fan. At least that's what I've seen in my testing.

I bought a Dell 5060 with an RX550 the other day, and the card was idling at 100% load at all times. I tried to update the drivers using the AMD app and the thing glitched my computer out midway and gave me a blue screen error every time I tried to boot. I ended up doing a fresh install of Win11 and it booted, but the 100% idling load was still a problem. I ended up just taking the card out because I didn't want any more issues. You have any idea what I can do to make the GPU usable?

RTX 3050 6GB low profile should work well in it, it is 70 watts and cost the same as the rx 6400.
@SeeJayPlayGames3 ай бұрын
1:17 yes, they're obviously doing that on purpose. They've been doing that for generations, and I hate them for it. I pretty much refuse to buy a Dell that does that anymore, which rules out this model, and a lot of others. They did okay with the mid towers, but they screwed up the SFFs pretty much every time. Lately I picked up a Lenovo M93/p, that isn't like that. I can fit a dual slot, half height GPU in there, which gives me the option of a 3050 6GB, or even a 4060 LP with maybe power adapters or a PSU swap. I guess I could still do that with a Dell, and a really slim (FlexATX) PSU; as I had that idea and posted about it. ETA PRIME did it (maybe he read my post) and proved it possible. The Lenovo M93/p has kind of the opposite problem as the SFF Dells: a slot that's useless. What can you use a PCI slot for anymore? Especially a low profile one? I mean really... USB 3.0 ports? This PC already has 6 of them. A sound card? Who buys those? There's just very little practical purpose. Maybe there was a use case back in 2013 when the machine was introduced. But now? I can't really think of one.
best budget office pc to use in my opion is the Lenovo p-520, specs in mine is 900 watt psu comes with 2 , 8 pin graphic card connectors, has 2 nvme slots, has plenty of sata connectors, a 6 core 12 thread zeon processor clocked at 4.7 gigahertz has windows 11 no compromising to install it at all installs normally, 32 gigs of ram clocked at 2666, Zeon's run just as good on 2666 as 3200 since there processors isn't so much dependent on ram speeds, i got it for under 200 usd, then added a 6700xt to it , man it absolutely destroys this pc or any other office pc ive came across period ive seen nothing else close to it got around 400 usd total in the system i bet no one can find anything cheaper that compares to it , i challenge them to try, to match its price to performance

Dell pls stop this PCIe placement nonsense you guys are the most popular prebuilt solution
@TheGameBench3 ай бұрын
In some of the most recent Precision SFF systems they've moved the x16 slot back to the correct location. Sadly, not with the Optiplex systems, which doesn't make much sense because they typically use the same boards. So... maybe there's hope that they'll stop doing this on the Optiplex as well.

@@TheGameBench I think they make it on purpose. Weak gpu on bottom, upper slot pci ssd

I have a Dell Vostro with the same PCIe placement. I took out the power supply and put it on top of the case. This way the case has space for a double slot gpu, in my case I'm using RTX 3050.
@TheGameBench3 ай бұрын
@@ZARuslan I don't think it's on purpose, it think it had more to do with the fact that there was no real reason that the market they were selling these system to would install a dual slot card in them. They were either going to install something like an OEM RX 550 or a Quadro, and those were all single slot cards. The only way I could see it being intentional would be to push people to a more expensive system to run something like an A2000, dual slot LP workstation cards didn't exist until recently. And even then, the Precision was configured the same. Still, I don't understand what benefit there was to Dell to move the x16 slot down. And even HP started doing this with the 600 series systems. At least the 800 series was left alone. But this is why I've been telling people to look to the HP Z2 workstations.
@TheGameBench3 ай бұрын
@@varkin794 Another option is to replace the power supply with a Flex ATX unit. Then you could have the power supply in the system and run a dual slot card in the x16 slot.

You'd be better off buying a brand new Lenovo Legion Go which occasionally goes on sale for $499, runs Spiderman Remastered @1200p with FPS in the 40-50s range, dock it and it becomes a desktop pc.

@@basicdadtech Star Wars Outlaws on lowest settings is about 22fps for the intro city. Not very good at all. Not in the BIOS. But you can always use something like XTU or ThrottleStop to remove the power limits, so long as the VRM can keep up, and I'm pretty sure it can do 120 watts since I've been able to push near that in a 5060 with an i7 8700.
