Just picked this game up as I work to collect all Uwe's games. Anxious to dig into this and was glad to find this video.

At 17:51 Rahdo puts the brick marker back on the space where it came from, he probably was thinking "Jen" wouldn't collect clay, but since she kept the clay and (this time) paid the action for it, the brick marker should stay on 0. "Richard" could still collect his clay later, he would just need to use the wild card, which would affect the game late... ahhhhh! Also, kudos to Leandro who also pointed this out.

Was reading the rules. And I think you should have made it clear that only in the two player game does the first player do back to back actions. In a 3-4 player game you do 1-2-3-1 or 1-2-3-4-1 respectively. I was confused for a little bit.

You made some crazy things! -Jen DID take the clays (16:35) which you then moved back (17:50), and THEN took for yourself (22:42). -Also you forgot to remove Jen's wheats from her area when she decided to back-off the wheat action (14:40), so she wouldn't have had the 5 tokens at 25:30, but 3. Looks like a really fun game! Thanks for the run-through!!!

but you can actually get stone using joker from the very begining "You are allowed to use the joker indicator for a goods type whose normal goods indicator is not in the game yet (see Example 2). This rule affects stone as well as grapes in the France variant"

"Three-peat" you owe Pat Riley some residuals Richard 😀

20:42 You generated some clay though the clay marker should have been in 0-position as Jane had generated some clay previously in that round.

Great video! Thanks for all your hard work in putting these runthroughs up! p.s. just thought it was funny@27:13 that the game allows forcing another player into a contract...seems more like servitude if the player has no choice...

Where does this one rank among other Uwe games for you? I will be playing solo!
@rahdo Жыл бұрын
i've never played it solo so i can't speak to that. i liked it quite a bit but i don't think it would make my top 10 these days

It's November 2015 and, yes, I am playing Ora and Labora

You totally messed Jen's resources...

Funny thing is that Oh my goods! has the same symbols for resources as Ora et Labora.

Richard you randomized the buildings didn't you? The Granary is 4p only. Read you thread on variants for Ora et Labora on BGG. Your vid started with 8 starter buildings and there are 13 starter buildings on total, so how did you decide on 8 and also for the rest of the lettered decks. I did not see any more comments from you in the variants section so I was just wondering. Also the district and plots need to seeded with forest and bogs when bought (see the symbols on the boards), just saying :)

Hi Richard! Great work, especially with this complicated game!

It is now November, 2014 -- just about 1.5 years since this video was posted. Is anybody still playing Ora & Labora? It doesn't seem to have lasted long on people's play-lists
@rahdo10 жыл бұрын
according to BGG play logs, 48 people played a game of it in the last 30 days. Compared to other big games from 2011, Dungeon Petz: is at 59, Lancaster 58, Few Acres of Snow 46, etc. So seems like a reasonable number of plays to me...
@adlertag26210 жыл бұрын
***** Do you and Jen still play Ora & Labora?

Johann Schmidt we would happily if we weren't constantly having to play new games for runthroughs :)

This game looks so good. Thank you for the runthrough. If you feel like taking on a dare, I dare you to do a runthrough of Middle-Earth Quest. :)

I should probably go check the artist, but it looks so much like Oh My Goods that I assume it is the same person.
@JDtheHutt6 жыл бұрын
Checked and confirmed my suspicion. And having watched this, Oh My Goods feels almost like a reworked light version of this. The art is so similar, identical in many areas such as the resource images, and has a very similar production chain feel.

You really need to just stick with your actions and stay with them. When you change back and forth you make errors that screws with the gameplay.
@rahdo Жыл бұрын
hehe, i make errors regardless! and i pull switcheroos like this from time to time because it allows me to show more options that are availalble to players so they get a better understanding of what the full experience of the game is, because my goal with runthroughs it to help folks decide if they want to buy the game, not teach how to play :)

i fell asleep during the rule part, so skipped to 17:00 and still it looks misreable, a wheel but no space for the goods on them, all bad quality. not much labora went into this game. And i heard it takes 3+ hours to play. will not buy, will not play.
@ValuePicksHub11 ай бұрын
I don't like some of the design, for example the wheel many signs are not clear in the game which makes me feel confused and suspicious about my actions and plans
