I wish they'd just done the dungeons. I don't count it as 100% if they skip a huge portion of the game. Plus it was boring as hell to watch/skip through.

This run was excellent and entertaining! I had so many questions for certain maneuvers you seemed to be attempting (some succeeded, some not???) but I didn't write em all down. I discovered recently that all Moblins regardless of color die immediately when set on fire. This includes the golden Moblin in seasons. This might be a quick time save for you instead of doing all that sword slashing. Just a suggestion.

watching this on my day off of work. i watched the tool assisted speed run of both ages and seasons on the TAS youtube channel, but my god! the seasons TAS is just a plain vanilla looking all dungeons run. that first run of seasons looked normal enough, until after getting to the Sunken City and getting the rod upgraded with "spring" now i'm just watching 10 minutes of button mashing and pause buffering on Cuccoo's for goodness knows what reason!

The TAS of Seasons was released in early 2012, while the Rooster trick was found in mid 2019. An in-depth explanation of the trick can be found here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/q5ykZIJprNGAbqc but the basics of it is that you're doing a frame perfect trick called Rooster Duping, which makes the Roosters persist between screen transitions, something that normally doesn't happen as they are just set to specific screens. Through some memory manipulation, we can exploit this to fill up a lot of object slots in the game's memory with Roosters. We can then use this to deload other objects of the same time as the Rooster, as there simply won't be enough space for those other objects to load. The cutscene in front of Onox's Castle that normally blocks you from entering until you've beaten all 8 dungeons happens to be in the same class of objects as the Roosters, meaning that we can use the Roosters to deload the cutscene and just waltz into the Castle early, which bypasses Dungeons 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 completely. We obviously need to do these dungeons in the later Seasons playthrough that actually gets all of the 100% collectibles, but it's faster to completely skip them in the first playthrough, as that playthrough is only necessary to create the Linked Ages file.

@@Nitroz11 ok cool! thanks for the reply. i'm now at the 4:43:00 mark just about to watch the heros seasons playthrough. i've learned many cool tricks that i hadn't even known about from even my casual playthroughs of this game as a kid 20 years ago. stuff like using the harp of ages outside the happy mask salesmans house to go straight to the vine wall to have Patch fix the level 2 sword. That wasn't in the prima guide book!

Oracle of Seasons is still my favorite 2D Zelda. Place 2 is for Minish Cap and No.3 goes to Zelda 1 mainly due nostalgia afterwards comes A Link to the Past. Nintendo REALLY NEEDS TO remake those games (on one cartridge and if possible with as much content that was initially lost in development due time restored). Especially after this very disappointing 35th anniversary of Zelda. Nintendo could also make a new game that has Season-changing mechanics, I mean we got plenty of games that have Time Travel as a mechanic (sometimes more other times less involved) so it's about damn time.

You don't actually need to get all the rings. There is a universal password to get all the rings in both games

Im having difficulty with 100%. Its the rings. I completed both Ages and Seasons (base) on both of my New Nintendo DS XL consoles simultaneously. I then started a linked game for each linking Base Seasons to Likned Ages and Base Ages to Linked Seasons. I am currently missing (excluding GBA rings) the Armor Ring Lv. 3, Heart Ring Lv.1 and Swimmer's Ring for Linked Season/Base Ages. And I am missing the Power Ring Lv. 3, Snowshoe Ring and Spin Ring forBase Ages/Linked Seasons. How do i get them all in one file?

To transfer the rings on 3DS, you'd probably have to make use of the Ring Secret from one of the snakes in order to get those missing rings across.
