I mean, it depends on how quickly it's needed. Late game, you usually have the rupees to buy everything in the shop. Early game, you usually don't have the rupees for anything, and it's annoying

Yeah, I noticed that it sounds like the current logic is that a key for a key means all key-locked chests are out of logic. I do remember that there is precisely *one* chest that can never be vanilla in ALttPR: there's a chest in the Dark Maze in PoD that holds a key in vanilla, and since there are multiple chests in the maze, there can never be a key in there since that's one of the areas that's logically locked by all small keys (ALttPR key logic allows a small key to be locked by all small keys only if it's the only check behind that key door and therefore you'll still be able to get every other check). In the vanilla game, of course, there's no chance of getting key-locked because one of the small key doors is hammer-locked and the Hammer is also in the dark maze.

Key logic pretty much assumes worst-case key usage so you can't get softlocked by using a key in the wrong spot. For a key door to be opened you need enough keys to open all possible doors.
