The fact that they got people thinking to this day that they were a whole different group and not a after school subunit says a lot.

The naked kpop group... It seems everyone has an opinion about clothes and attitude but often forgets that one GG with a very short life, but nonetheless were Idols sell naked, not Lisa naked, Naked Girls, that was the concept.... Hypocrisy all around...

I will never forgive Pledis for what they did to After School. More so for what they did to Orange Caramel. These girls were really doing the damn thing! It’s not easy to be this quirky in an industry that wants pretty and cookie cutter. They need to come back. I’m still waiting. T^T

I'm sorry their costume looks 100 times better than any party city costume, thats why a lot people praised them for doing a lot on their costumes. My favorite track actually Funny Hunny, but bangkok city, shanghai romance and lipstick was amazing as well.

AS and OC were my first introduction to gg and to say that I was for the ride, is an understatement. Their fun and catchy music alongside their performances made me stan them. Although I joined during OC's last comeback, I was so surprised and loved everything. Thank you for covering them

It is too cringe. The Orange Caramel were talented, but After School was way better and showcased their talents better. Childish concepts is actually made for creepy men who are into young girls. Thankfully that concept does not exist today. The west would never accept such concept.
@uwuinternallyscreaming7644
@uwuinternallyscreaming7644 Жыл бұрын
@@vixxexo6855What are you talking about, my guy? 💀 Sure, it can appeal to creepy men but that's not how it works either because they do not ask for it to be exactly attractive to them. You can't control how someone sees you even if your image is supposed to be innocent. If it was like that, then being a childish kid as a whole would be considered "creepy" because it would grab the attention of p*d*s all the time. Don't need to generalize a whole concept just because this type of public seems to have a weird infatuation for it. And sure, After School did showcase their talents "better" but Orange Caramel just explored another concept that they were not used to. There's no harm in that and it doesn't make them or cute and/or childish concepts less valuable. It's simply another style and another way of showing their other talents when it comes to non-serious concepts. Also, what does the west not looking to such a concept has to do with this conversation? You do know that cultural differences do exist, don't you? Just because we see things in another light here for being unusual, it doesn't mean that it is the same way for them on the other side of the world. Not everything revolves around the West and the USA lol.

I always thought Orange Caramel was sonically related to Brit girl group Girls Aloud: ecclectic pop music that lends from different genres, unexpected samples, leftfield pop but catchy as hell. Especially if you take all of OC's discography, incl b-sides and album tracks, you can definitely make a harmonious playlist with GA. Both really strong discographies.

I missed reference to After School's Kahi (I think it was her) posting about stupid little hats that OC wore. Also I know you featured the low quality clip available on YT of Japan album's primary release track 'Cookies, Cream and Mint' but it was not even discussed! That is an unforgivable omission as, at least for me, one of the group's most amazing achievements and unique in KPop. To not just replace vocals locally but imbue the concept completely in a foreign territory and with unique new material (as well as the usual retreads 🤣) - who organised that?! Another chapter please, especially regarding this and the weight loss suffered by Lizzy, the Picnic Live show where variations were sung by hand group AND the public. Probably even more missed!

I think OC and Sistar19 are the only subunits with just as much success as there main group and tbh afterschool was successful espically there run of diva, Because of you, Bang and shampoo. OC was at one point bigger then afterschool but thats not to diminish Afterschools success, or trifecta hits. OCs was more successful because of the time they debut, they debut at the perfect time because afterschool as a group was focusing on japan and success there which left pledis with a gap in its roster and OC filled that void and it was such a smart business move. Shanghai romance is there best song tbh. Sistar19 was bigger then sistar when they debut im pretty sure there the most successful subunit group tbh. Ma boy and gone not around any longer are some of the best subunit songs im suprised they never left this as a sistar songs tbh.

There's one little sub unit that hasn't been mentioned, but probably outshined them all. I'm speaking of course about TTS. They didn't outshine their parent group though. Loved OC and Sistar19 too though.

Midnight Theories girl, I disagree with you. Yes if you said afterschool is bubblegumpop. But Orange Caramel is not. Orange Caramel is FunkPop/CityPop not so bubblegumpop to me. Similar to indonesian singer latest single, title Kupu Kupu by Tiara Andini, that is derived concept direct from 80's CityPop/FunkPop music styles. Same concept with wondergirl reboot album and Yubin "Lady". Single. My advice to you is, please deep digging into CityPop/FunkPop genre. If not ease, please go to my playlist top 300 city pop / funk pop on this channel of mine.
