Is not an upscale version, is a different amp altogether, the OR15 have rockerverb preamp and is close loop, this one is a different preamp topology with a cathode follower, open loop and local feedback with rectifier, apples and pineapples

The coolest Orange since the Rockerverb for me. The additional Presence and the Bright switch allow also more Marshall (Plexi) voiced tones and what I really like, this amp also offers - for a contemporary amp - a lot of low-end and low-mid punch, if wished or needed and not only this thin, extremely thinned out Metal bass, as eg. a JCM or DSL only offers it. I also like these full bodied AC/DC type tones in the demo, which you hardly get from modern amps, sort of JTM on steroids, so to say. Treble and harmonics sound excellent, if not perfect. Very nice! A little expensive for a single channel amp, on the other hand I think, this anyway is a lifetime investment for those, who like this amp or Orange amps in general. This also is the price for a Made in Britain amp. Hardly something for Fender or Mesa Boogie fans, rather a nice alternative for (vintage) Marshall fans.

Well, to be perfectly honest here, in my humble opinion, of course without offending anyone who thinks differently from my point of view, but also by looking into this matter in a different perspective and without being condemning of one`s view and by trying to make it objectified, and by considering each and every one`s valid opinion, i honestly believe that i completely forgot what i was going to say ..ah i remember, great amp but very pricey here in germany! i would go with the rockerverb MKIII instead! . cheers 🎸🎸

Man, I'm glad this doesn't have a direct out. Never sounds as good as placing a microphone in front of a cab anyways. I come here after being amazed from testing an AD30 HTC at a store, would you say the OR30 is capable of covering the same ground as the AD30?

Direct out on a fully tube amp, it's kinda out of place, because all the tube tone comes from the interaction of the output section and the speaker. So, what's the point? Buy a modelling amp.

As far as I remember, yes it does. You can set two different levels and switch between them using a foot switch. Plenty of power there.

I love my Rockerverb 100 but this demo sounds bad. Dunno if it’s the recording setup, the guitar, player or the amp itself but the bottom end is loose and muddy. Not good.

Wow. We all have individual taste but I couldn't imagine living my life with such a narrow subjective viewpoint on everything. Your loose and muddy might be someone else's warm and fat. Not good to you? Great, you don't like the more traditional old school Orange sound. So stick to your Rockerverb, your Boss Metal Zone and your EMG pickups. Good for you.

@@spatnaspolecnost Why would you demo the amp with an overdrive pedal? I would assume most people want to hear what the _actual amp_ sounds like, not how close you can get it to sound like a 5150. And if you're interested in clean tones, I'm afraid you're looking at the wrong brand. He took us through the entire front control control panel pretty thoroughly I thought. It wouldn't have mattered whether he used dad, mum, cousin, uncle or brother rock riffs. 90% of KZbin gear demos are guys playing the same boring djent or metalcore riffs with too much gain and not enough mids. Why don't you let the 'dads' have this one for once, eh? Not sure why you guys are even looking at Orange gear. But don't despair, Line 6 are still making Spider amps, so you'll be right for a while yet.

@@Polyphemus. you talk a lot of s**t man, for one I am interested in how well it cleans up with volume, and since it's a single channel amp I would venture a guess that this is one of the most important things to demo. Second, an overdrive is basically essential to tightening an amp like this, so unless you play in a boomer rock cover band with no dynamics (why do you need an amp with this much gain? looks like you are looking at the wrong orange), I'd say that's already two essential things he didn't cover. Orange is a wrong brand for hard rock punk rock and metal? Listen to some bands man, I see a lot of people using Orange and it's anything from stoner rock to hardcore. And everytime I see them live I think man what a nice sound. I find your hypocrisy quite amusing with your "We all have individual taste but I couldn't imagine living my life with such a narrow subjective viewpoint" while maintaining the "go dads" attitude and talking down a guy with a valid argument.

Sounds a bit too fuzzy for my taste. Almost sounds like a fuzz pedal with balls. No doubt it's a great amp as Orange always seem to make great stuff.

@@finishin.my.coffee8780 I know what you mean... I have one, but it usually stay on about 30% gain and then messing with vol, presence and treble switch... Its such a sweet crunch sound, that you then dial in with the guitar volume. Yes it can do loads of fuzz heavier stuff, but it not why I bought it... that just starting to excite the grunt bottles and give them a tickle is a tone of dreams that as good as the demo has to be heard live. Am luck to have a high ceiling room with a natural reverb and its crunch heaven

Sounds terrible. The mids are just awful and there's just no sparkle, this thing would be lost in a mix in a second.

You need to hear it live. I have one and as far as EL84 amps go, it does its own thing perfectly and holds its own against hand wired opposition (my Dr Z Maz18)

With all due respect, I dont think you have owned one? They are very solidly made, and many models are more modestly priced. This has many grunt bottles and you either love that crunch tone or not, but it does its thing perfectly. I love EL84 amps and this stands up well against hand wound opposition...
