Same here. :) I was looking for an amp a few years ago and I had tested quite a lot of others already, analysing them and comparing pros and cons. Then I played the RV100 mk3. All that previous analysis went straight out of the door, I bought it on the spot as I knew instantly right then and there this was the sound I was looking for. It's a friggin beast!

I feel like people are forgetting no matter how round or dark an amp is, you can always use a boost and/or compressor to tighten things up. The gain structure is already there!

Sounds really good and crunchy! But I can't help but notice the drop in quality of your mixing compared to stuff you used to release 2-3 years ago. Even the intro track is much brighter, crisper, and with drums that sound more alive. It's like there's a blanket over your overall mix and the drums sound a bit lifeless. Nevertheless, video quality and editing is always top notch.

Got the Mk1 version that I love, uses 6l6 tubes and love the tone. Wish the reverb on mine was more balanced like the mkIII, it's all over the place before it hits 12 o' clock. Also the attenuator on the mkIII seems very handy, wish it had it on the first version. Still I'm not complaining, I don't see myself selling/ trading it anytime soon it's killer ;)

I have the 50 watt version. I love only ever used it in 25 w mode. It’s my dream amp and it’s amazing. Great for almost any style of rock/metal with an amazing variety of gain on tap. Attenuators is great for solo boosts

Okay, I've got a question for you. I'm not sure if it's frequently asked but I'm sure a lot of other people are thinking it. I really need a channel switching amp. My ideal tones are some kinda solid clean sound with a British crush. The problem I run into here is that most amps with a good overdrive sound have an underwhelming clean sound (shout-out to Blackstar). So let's say... You have a series of five gigs. A jazz gig, a blues gig, classic rock gig, a metal/prog/hard rock gig, and a djent gig. What amp do you go with?

I have the Orange MicroTerror, and it's only 20W but incredibly LOUD, and has that classic orange tone, even though it's only tube on the preamp. I think it has like 4 cascading gain stages, so it also gets loud really quickly on the sweep of the master volume if you have any gain up at all, because logarithms at like that. I'm playing with effects in front of the amp, and only recently figured out how to get a more modern tone out of it using my overdrive as a clean boost/filter, and an EQ pedal after that to further roll the bass off... but otherwise it just does the Orange Sound. It's perfect for doom/drone/psychrock, but takes some work to get anything else out of it. Orange heads are very very good at doing the one thing that they do really well, don't even bother using the EQ controls, just set them to noon, and if you want it to do other tones, don't bother, just get an EVH5150 or Peavy6360 or Marshall JCM or literally anything else that has controls that actually change the tone. TLDR: if you want the Orange sound, get an Orange. If you want your orange to sound like anything else... why did you buy it?

Hell yeah C.O.C.!! Throwing horns all the way from NC at you Fluff. I will be completely honest, I always preferred the OR's over the RV line, specifically the 120, but these sound absolutely amazing. Third times a charm for sure. "Beefier" is definitely the correct adjective to use. Straight jelly of your UA OX man. Universal Audio significantly raised the bar with that one IMO, but hey, sometimes mic'n up cabs is half the fun, well...until the cops show up. A VHT Pitbull 120 and two OG Orange 4x12's will do that. I've seen it happen. I plead the fif. Great video as always man. Never stop being awesome dude. Cheers!

I’ve always felt Orange amps fit their name too well; to me the gain structure sounds like an orange peel feels. I have no idea how else to articulate that. But generally, my thoughts are that they’re great for rock rhythm and similar things, but fall flat for rock or metal leads, even with a good OD and compressor in the front

I discovered the hard way how heavy Orange amps are, to the point where I have been debating whether or not to use it for playing live. Do I really want to be hauling around THIS much weight? Or should I get a Micro Terror, and use a boost pedal? That said, I love the sound, so I may end up gigging with it anyway. That, and with the money I paid, I really should be doing what I can to get my money's worth anyway.

a friend and i tested this amp, and we were in awe of the distortion sound, but the cleans were really lackluster. we had the perfect riff-rock tone (d standard, drop c, e standard, open d....) but the cleans only let us do spaghetti western clean tones. kinda cool, but far from versatile. my friend ended up dropping 1400€ on a mesa recto-verb and eq pedal instead. you'd kind of expect more than 2 types of sound out of a 1500€+ amp. that distortion sounds friggin' awesome, but not worth 4 figures as a standalone.

I'm glad I'm a metal amp enthusiast and not 100% picky with it... certain metal bands use certain things to make their sound even though playing is super important, the ampligication of instruments is incredible and I love extreme metal so I want to collect all these dark orange amps... theres definetly a lot of other cool amp companies out there too like Peavy Sunn Ampeg Mesa but I always loved Orange for those sludgy ass metallic metal tones that crunch just nicely and really I dont ask for much with the gain, as long as its loud and all my notes can be heard I'm happy 😁😄
