Notes about the 'One Song' series: The idea for the 'One Song' series came about when I was trying to come up with a cool idea for my next EPIC/MEGA amp comparison with around 30 amps. So I came up with the idea of writing a song in multiple styles that would do a good job of 'testing' the versatility of an amp. It would start clean and end with metal. And I thought it could be interesting to use multiple guitars, so one for each section. Then I realised that it would be cool to release each amp's video individually first and when I'm all done I'll upload a compilation that would essentially be similar to all my other mega comparisons, including all the timecodes etc. This will be called: 'One Song, 30 Amps!'. So that's the plan basically! However, I'm also planning on running the song through some modeling platforms to also demo those and see how well they can work with all the material in the song. I've chosen to NOT use the same IRs for each segment this time because I want to use cab tones that the amps are 'comfortable' with. So don't view this as a direct comparison of the amps per say, but view it as an amp showcase that also allows you to hear how the amps function inside the song or inside the music, of course in comparison to one another in that sense! This will showcase the uniqueness of the amps more, which is more fun imho, and it also allows me to be a little bit more creative when reamping each amp. Plus: some of you guys will say 'they all sound the same' anyway and the different cab sounds will make the amps sound more interesting and unique! For the metal segment I'll very likely use a boost pedal for most of the amps, just so you metalheads or djentheads can hear how a downtuned baritone with a boost sounds with the amp. Anyway, I hope you guys will enjoy this series and I hope I made the song interesting enough to listen to it a couple times (because I don't expect anyone to watch all 30 or more amp videos lol). -Jon

Great video and thanks for the time and effort to do this. I have the TH30 and it is my favourite orange amp by far. It can be tricky to balance the two channels as the clean is a non master volume channel. The clean channel is by far the best clean channel on any amp I have ever owned. When pushed into natural overdrive it is heavenly, but extremely loud even at 7watts. I use a thd hotplate to tame the volume to get it to naturally overdrive at ear friendly volume. To push it further an mxr micro amp works wonders on this amp. Can’t recommend this amp enough for all styles.

What this amp shows is that you don't need a million buttons, sliders, plugins, effects and knobs, you just need tubes run through a proper circuit. A little reverb space in post is where tone begins, the rest is just gravy on top.

This is an interesting orange amp to me because it sounds like their signature orange "crunchy" sound has been shifted from their normal position in the mids, to the upper mids, almost reminiscent of a Marshall but still with that creamy orange sound. The crunch in this one is tighter, thinner, and higher up than in most other orange amps. Almost more of a "sizzle" and I love it.

I’ve used the IRs you used here but I cannot seem to get a similar sound at all - Ive had a look on the scope, and there seems to be a very strict low pass filter with all of the ownhammer IRs that cuts absolutely all of the brightness around 8k, leaving my tone sounding very very dull and not at all like my actual orange cabinet. What am i missing? I’m using Lancaster Audio’s pulse to load the IRs if that helps.

Bit late to the discussion but, I've use my Helix floor straight and through the FX loop and didn't notice any appreciable difference. The pedal and amp are both plugged into the same power outlet and there are no other conditioners or anything else in that loop so, I've found it pretty clean. I use a pretty standard 4 cable set up, nothing trick at all and no noise. Be interested to know if you've worked it out. I've use the Helix in the same way with the Dual Terror with the FX loop mod with no issue.
